YOU PROBABLY DON’T NEED SHOULDER SURGERY | Trevor Bachmeyer | SmashweRx
    .
Your shoulder is designed to take all kinds of abuse, and recover. That’s not the problem.
    .
The issue is that a lot of you wait until a grenade goes off in your shoulder to START taking care of those nagging problems you’ve had for the last decade.
    .
Instead of tackling a shoulder that’s filled with shrapnel (however this video will handle that no problem) this video explains how to take care of those aches, pains and sticking points BEFORE your shoulder implodes.
    .
When you work through this (or any other program) you need to make sure that you exploit the full potential of the area that you’re working on.
    .
    In this case, the shoulder.
    .
When you’re going through each movement, push PAST those restrictive points in the range of motion. By doing that, you’re training your nervous system to bypass the ‘safety switch’ that’s built in to limit motion and load when you have pain.
    .
Except...that restriction will stay in place unless you do something about it.
    .
By going through most shoulder programs using unilateral movement, it keeps your nervous system from ‘piggy backing’ off the movement and range of motion of the ‘better side.’
    .
Hit this entire series 3 times a week, independent of your training (no, not as a warm up either).
    .
This video will take you from stuck, in pain, and weak, to working the way your shoulder is designed.
    .
    1️⃣ Unilateral Cuban Press - 4 x 10
    2️⃣ Banded Unilateral Cuban Press - 4 x 10
    3️⃣ Unilateral Ring Row - 3 x 15
    4️⃣ Prone Double Sweep - 2 x 10
    5️⃣ Prone Bump Sweep - 2 x 15
6️⃣ Side Plank Push - 2 minute hold
    7️⃣ Partial TGU - 2 x 15
    8️⃣ Push Up Hop - 20 reps
    9️⃣ Plank Walk Around - 360 degrees
    .
Hit me up in the comments with whatever you need!
    .
    I love you all!
    .

Two torn labrums in 2018 - I was a mental mess, nearly everything on the internet points to surgery (and so do DRs) with very few corners of the internet speaking of successful rehab stories. Its 2023, and I'm lifting heavier than pre-tear. I did the exercises in one of trevor's earlier videos, they helped tremendously. To anyone reading this - be patient, be methodical, be consistent, be optimistic - You can fix your shoulders.

Which video/exercise did you do? My surgery date is mid-June. Although I’m lifting heavier than pre-last shoulder surgery last year, my shoulders are a mess, specifically the one that was operated on. It’s causing so much pain in my arm, it’s unbearable.

Preach. I have shoulder surgery around 2005. It is the 2nd worst decision I've ever made.
In a 20-year struggle to continue to be fit and overcome the effects of that surgery. I've learned so much more. I don't go to a doctor anymore unless I have broken bones sticking through my skin.

First one when you got married? lol just kidding. I am with you, had 5 surgeries and should not have done any of them. Stupid me. But go to a doctor if you have medical issues, seriously. You don't wanna get cancer and discover it too late etc etc. But for orthopaedic stuff? Absolutely I hear you. Last time I went to the doctor he told me that since I'm 53 years old, I should not train seriously, I should stay on the sofa. (like, what the actual fck? ).

Hey Trev, great to see you cranking out the vids again. I hurt my wrist/thumb area from tennis serving (after adding pronation for more serving speed) and tried adding a wrist brace but it must've been still aggravated because when I did straight bar bicep curls the pain skyrocketed. My physio says I have likely ligament sprain and tendon strain. So any videos on this - when to let it heal vs adding in exercises. then preventing this from coming back. also from all the upper body rotation when swinging forehadn/backhand I developed costochondritis rib pain in the chest. So now I get chest discomfort when just sitting in a chair without doing any chest exercises etc. So improving costo plus prevention of it returning would be great. Thanks!

I tore the long head bicep tendon off the labrum after a fall. I had to get that fixed surgically. It was a long, hard and extremely painful year long rehab. It was worth it 100%, but I would have done about anything else if I had a choice. I am going to try everything else I can in my other shoulder that has pain building in it. I needed rehab years ago but was too stubborn...

I have a slap tear, left shoulder. 3 years ago my right shoulder was replaced. Bad outcome.
Pain is bad in left shoulder and bicep
I've been athletic all my life and I am tired of the wait to see specialist.......
I will try this routine. Today, could only do 2 exercises and that was 2 sets 5 reps.
I will commit to every 2nd day for 30 days baring further injury.
    See you October 6, 2023.

Trev! I’ve been looking all over for some corrective exercises for the pain I feel in my rear delt when I do internal rotation… for example, if I have my elbow at my side and it’s bent at 90° and I push on my own belly, I feel pain in my rear delt
I feel the same pain on most pulling exercises when I have my elbows pull it all the way back on a row… Feels like it might be the rotator cuff

Shoulder tendonitis, impingement and partial tears infamously take a long time to heal. It usually starts with a restriction on chest and shoulder pressing movements for upwards of 6-8 months. Meanwhile, you need to be building the rear delts, and upper back. Also, dead hangs can help a lot. I'd invite you look that up.

    • @usmcmma
      @usmcmma 9 місяців тому

@briansotosf85 Thank you, I absolutely will! By dead hangs, do you mean from a pull-up bar in the down position? I just started doing this for spinal decompression, and my shoulder feels like it's getting better.

Hey guys. I’m a vet who suffered a shoulder injury years ago. I work construction now. I’ve been dealing with my right shoulder popping in & out of place my whole life. Doctor last week told me the only way to repair that joint (fill in small pieces on the head to stop it from coming out) was to have surgery. Now, I can’t afford to be out of work for 4-5 months on recovery. Think strengthening the surrounding muscles would help? I used to go to the gym religiously and stopped after injuring that same shoulder and I guess I’ve been sorta scared of rly injuring it. I just nut up and deal with the pain every day. Help?

  • @robbydridesemtb4428
    @robbydridesemtb4428 Рік тому +2

Thanks for your perspective regarding shoulder strengthening. I'm a 62 yr old lifelong athlete that is 6 months post, Total Reverse Shoulder Arthroplasty on my LS that had 2 100% nonrepairable tears, the supraspinatus and Infraspinatus, both recessed 1.5" along with severe arthritis. This was the only option for my situation after trying to rehab the shoulder for 2 yrs. Mtn bike and ski crashes caused the tears, and my hard-headedness caused the prolonged downtime. I was initially diagnosed with a grade 3 tear, so I decided to rehab, didn't work. I'm in the gym doing light weight training and the deltoids are picking up the slack of the two missing LS RC muscles. My question is, since my other shoulder has similar damage but is less arthritic, can I try some of these exercises or should I keep to my current regimen that includes LWeights (3-5 sets, 20-25 reps) bands and normal exercising, includes Mtn biking ( no more air time), Golf (soon, just hitting wedges ATM) and pickleball, easy paddleboarding? I've been told the RS needs surgery too, and nearly 3 yrs of trying to rehab it hasn't really helped. I'm frustrated and looking for options.
The exercises you perform seem like they are more suited to someone with shoulder sprains or less?
Along with my normal gym routine, I played PB and mtn biked 17 mi and 2000' vert this past weekend without pain, just some expected soreness. Due to two procedures, I didn't ski or mtn bike last year but am making my comeback this year and also have committed to an extremely healthy diet and supplements.

I'm in a similar position. The surgeon says i need a reverse total shoulder arthroplasty too. But I still have almost a full range of motion and had a full thickness supraspinatus tear repaired 7 years ago that somehow got torn again. I'll go the exercise route this time because the surgeon told me last week that I would only be able to lift 20lbs. overhead even if the operation was successful.

@@ThrasherTylerI prayed so hard before the second surgery. Turned out to be a procedure where the surgeon removed lots of hemorrhagic bursitis - that caused me most pain as I tore my left one because of it (not fitness related). The first surgery to my right arm, although the tear did fix, my arm internally rotated as a result and having issues lifting my weights, where there wasn’t issue before on certain exercises. Fixed something, but messed something else up. Tbh I wish I never did the first one. Toughest year of my life, and I had a stroke. My pain threshold is high, but this was on another level.

@@SandraJM I have a shoulder that won’t stop dislocating it’s happened 8 times in four years, I had a MRI I guess my labrum is torn and I have a hill Dachs lesion on my glenoid from bone on bone rubbing and they want to sink 5 anchors 3 in the labrum 2 in the hill lachs lesion and threw arthroscopy. I’m terrified I’ve never had surgery but my shoulder won’t stop dislocating it even happen while I was sleeping and sitting on the couch. I’ve recently bought health supplements to start feeding my bone what it’s lacking like bone supplements and ligament and tendon supplants and collagen for new cartridge growth I’m trying everything even fish oils turmeric glucosamine msm all of it and I want to start eating deer antler powder and fresh bone marrow too for new stem cell development and again new cartridge growth I just don’t know if any of this in the end will really allow my shoulder to stay strong from not dislocating again I just think I need the surgery but I just don’t know and am lost right now!

After I went to my doctor and he recommended that I get an MRI I did so. The MRI revealed that I have no Cartlidge left in my shoulder and I have bone spurs on the other part tearing up tissue. Any recommendations?

Gradually rebuild strength through available range of motion.

Surgery to help you with fake cartilage. No matter the exercice you can’t rebuild cartilage there.

Find an intro video and start much much slower. No rush. It took you a long time to get this injured. It will take some time to get it back.

@@hnunez1307 Thanks man, I hear you. When I was in my late 20's something happened, suddenly I couldn't lift weights or throw. It gradually got worse for the next 30 years to now where they are a disaster. So you're probably 100% right, it's gonna take time to undo30 years of poor posture and shoulder mechanics.

PS, I used to have big shoulders that looked like a half a softball implanted under the skin, now I have absolutely none, like ZERO muscle. I should probably go to the doctor and see why these muscles atrophied so much, maybe I have a neck issue, my hands do go numb at night when I sleep.

Quick aside...if I do things for people who I love and care about as you implied, and they also take that spirit to heart, then, isn't it possible that someone is coming to save me? Sure, be self reliant. That's great. But, realize that there are people who do care about you. I realize he makes money and all, but isn't Travis doing this video like someone offering you a rope? We're in this together, and I would come to save you if I could. Sorry for the tangent
