This perfume is very important in the fragrance industry because it was a groundbreaking 1st step, by Tom Ford, into the middle-eastern perfumery. Considered by many the 1st designer french perfume with oud ....this was exotic back in 2002...without m7 there would be no wood oud etc....
"'Was,' not 'is.' I have the old batch, and the new one is just a shadow of what it used to be. Tom Ford was just a director at that time and didn't have his own brand.
@zoethebear especially as he loves that era of tom ford, sounds like he isn't aware of the connection tbf. To my uncultured nose, there isn't really much in it tbf. But myth is everything!
I have about 3/4 of an inch left in my original bottle. I don’t go near it. There’s nothing else like it. There’s been so many formulations since, I wouldn’t know which one would be closest. 🤷🏻♂️
love your vids aaron! what do you think about labdanum abs? i absolutely ADORE its scent and complexity on its own but i find it extremely hard to build a fragrance around it... :(
These videos inspired me to start collecting and learning raw materials and your right! Labdanum absolute is so beautiful! I've been working on refining my first woody Amber accord and found that, even at 10% dilution, Labdanum Abs is deceptively strong. 1 part Labdanum to 3 parts benzoin is the foundation of my woody amber accord. If you like Labdanum, get ahold of some benzoin. It also smells to good! Haha
Really love the image quality and the overall presentation of the video (the background is awesome), your voice, passion, your approach to describing the fragrance. M7 isn't really my favorite type of fragrance but I'm grateful for what it has done/led to
Hey Aaron, would you consider reviewing Coty's Aspen? It's a very cheap perfume, but is considered by many to smell wonderfully. I'd love to hear your thoughts on it.
This is from the time Tom Ford was the creative director at YSL. I can see why they discontinued the original one, oud wasn't very popular back then until TF made Oud Wood. But I love my M7, I think it's great, and the Oud Absolu re-release (btw, they dropped this name, it's just "M7" now) isn't bad either.
Hey Aaron! Big fan of yours, and I wanted to ask you when are you going to open up your new 2025 boutique in beautiful Los Angeles, California? Can’t wait for your future venture to come to fruition! Have a great day !!

Hey Aaron! Could you please review Xerjoff torino21 next? It is my favourite warm weather fragrance even though it doesn't last as much as other xerjoff fragrances do. I think you will love the smell!
I love M7, still to this day I think it’s a beautiful thing. I love my Amouage for when I want something different and beautiful. But M7 is still elegant to me, sexy… and in the air it’s lovely. Sensual to me, but this stuff is so subjective Definitely wasn’t down the middle when first released. Love the review!
Hi Aaron love your insight into what’s into perfume ever since I got Covid I become a bit nose blind smell and taste shot can still smell what I like, but can’t distinguish individual aromas.Just love your true and honest reviews
I love M7. It's cozy, sweet and the patchouli heart is wonderfull. The oud is modest, non leathery or animalic. The OG was made under artistic guidance by Tom Ford. The perfumers are Jacques Cavallier and Alberto Morillias. Todays version is indeed a bit flat and the presentation mediocre. But there is something very attractive about this frag. Thanks again for your always learnative review.❤
Would love to see u review The Scent Magnetic by Hugo Boss as there is Bran in it, supposed to be a very nice fragrance, be interesting to get your thoughts! New sub here from Ireland 👍
I’d really love it if you could somehow try and review Mancera Aoud Exclusif. I’m not a connoisseur of Oud by any means but I absolutely love what they did with this. For me it feels really quiet luxurious and well-made and whilst it is very dense it is very easy to wear.
This one has a special place in my heart, wore this when I met the love of my life in 2012. I keep a bottle of the OG formulation, and have a modern version in my day to day rotation. Not that anyone cares 😂
Imagine a nice wood top instead of plastic. I own this one. I do like it . Some report it smelling like root beer. It is a safe Oud. It's not like Bortnikoff Tabac Dore at all. That's challenging. Definitely unisex. The 2002 M7 edt is also good. Albeit pricy. Try that one.
Thank you for your review and here is my experience with this fragrance if I may. I have purchased this last year (recent batch)and after many many tries I have given up and sold it for nothing..Zero projection, Zero character, Zero longevity. It is lacking everything, my tap water has more character then this fragrance. In my opinion, Don't waste your money on this fragrance..you will regret it.. I will mark it as 1 out of 10 after a year of testing.. Thank you
I loved the original that Tom Ford did when he was at YSL and this version is a less potent but just as beautiful fragrance. Not for everyone but I love it and have for over 20 years.
I'm fortunate enough to have tried and owned this one before I got hold of the original 2002 after shave and EDT which I still have. The Oud Absolut is okay and gives you an idea of what the original is like. The OG is denser and richer and is the definitive version. To me, they both have a plained wood clean smell which I really like, but it's more forward and more natural in the OG. You'll be pleased to know that the original bottles (designed by Tom Ford) do have higher quality plastic and metal caps and a far better presentation all round. It's a real shame like OG Jazz, and indeed the underrated Live Jazz that they discontinued the original M7. All three are pretty superb.
Hi i am an Australian and i was working at my usual job at convince store and a person just walk in with beutifull aroma just blew me away and i could not stop asking him that what he was wearing and he said its ATH supernova since then its been 10 hr i am trying to find out how to get one in Australia but no luck why is so hard to get your fregrance specially supernova please help me
Tom Ford developed the original version of this 22 years ago when he was at YSL & opened the door for western oud fragrances. Pretty sure the original formulation wouldn’t even be allowed now with IFRA regulations.
The original was anything from underwhelming. I found one at a local drugstore and I had people from all over the world writing to me because they wanted to buy it.
Considerind this masterpiece was released back in 2002, when niche parfumery didn t even exist with the exception of a few houses (Lartisan, Serge Lutens, Profumum Roma) this was so well build and so well maide that had been shoked the parfumery industry in that time: A french fashion house to released an oud based fragrance, in 2002? Just imagine how was the impact in the parfumery world and in art in general. So saying you re expecting more middle eastern construction, more complex built its a little bit premature and wrong and before doing the review it would have been advisable to do a little more homework on the history of this perfume and what this launch represented for YSL and Tom Ford. Since 2011, with the new bottles, we find the reissue of what was M7, in the new M7 oud Abolu, which is basically the same perfume.

And that 1 is discontinued and this is a newer one. So it seems like it's riding off the name.
@@AlritealritealriteAs has every other 22 year old fragrance in existence , especially since IFRA wouldn’t allow the original formulation now

Are you familiar with the original M7? Considered the first western oud, amazing fragrance!
Nice lift Aaron. Looks good. I found the overhang a bit more endearing, gave you a softer look, but this is also very fitting look for you.

M7 vintage (2002) is a groundbreaking and beautiful creation.
Top: bergamot, mandarin, rosemary, cardamon, clary sage
Middle: vetiver, agarwood, damascena rose, coffee, jasmine
Base: amber, musk, mandrake root, laudanum, incense/Frankenstein, vanilla
"I'm not reading anymore" cracks me up every time! 😂
Even a wooden cap wouldn't cost much, but it'd cut like £0.12 from the profit margin. 😐

Tuxedo was the best but considered ole school to me now
I still have a bottle of the vintage M7. Its a nice safe smelling medicinal fresh oud scent. Im not too crazy about it though.

Smells like a sweet cola that someone's left open in the sun and has lost it's effervescence. I get maybe 2-3 hours from it.
"plastico crapo" cap 🤣
