I know you're insanely busy with everything on the business side, but I wanted to just thank you for continuing to make time to create these videos for us.
I absolutely love silver oud (Cecil Zarokian is a master) . Wasn’t sure you would like it, it’s definitely a love it or hate it. Massive longevity, clothes still smell of it after a wash.
Great review. It's true that it gets better once it settles down a bit. I have it and love it. I get lots of compliments, but it's not easy to wear and not for everyone. It's very niche. A great fragrance. Great work by Zarokian.
I waited a while to get this one and it's just superb. If you like this, you will like Opus XV King Blue which is similar, but different enough to warrant having both in my opinion. King Blue has some blackcurrant which works with the rest of the composition amazingly well. (I am a bit of an Amouage fanboy admittedly.). Excellent review as ever. 👍👍👍
Always great to see your take on fragrances. I've been watching you long enough to know when you really like something and when you don't. Always a pleasure!
Aaron, your voice is so soothing and calm...puts me in a relaxed mood as if I were listening tot ASMR😊 I have a question I am hoping someone here in the comment section knows the answer to....what notes could cause a perfume to smell tart, like shampoo or hairspray? I really dislike that in a perfume and am trying to avoid those notes as I find they make a perfume feel cheap. I am thinking one of them may be musk (as in Erba Pura) -but I do not dislike every musk so maybe it's certain types. And sometimes there's no musk at all but I still get that hairspray / shampoo vibe. I would so much appreciate it if any of you 'perfume connaisseurs' here in the comment section could help me out!🙏
Hello, That's a mix of Aldehydes, Aceates and musks like Tonalide. But I bet what your sensitive to is high doses of Aldehydes like C12MNA These give fatty or soapy finish.
Hi Aaron, love your videos, can't stop watching when I start Your impressions make me understand a little more about fragrance each time Could you review Amouage Jubilation XXV next, please? Would love to hear what you have to say about that one
This is one of my favourite scents ive ever experienced. Definitely took a while to grow on me But cecile Zarokian's use of vanilla to smoothen the formula here is masterful as always
Same. I tried it in a shop and thought it was a bit animalic for me. I ordered some samples and they chucked in a free sample of Silver Oud that ended up being my favourite out of them. Now can’t get enough of it!
You are by far and away my favorite perfumer if not favorite human on the planet you are such a inspiration to follow your dreams I really wanted to smell some of your fragrance line but being in the us and having cancer IDK if I'll get the chance if I don't get too as sad as that makes me keep up the good work
Yes!! Thank you so much, I’ve been waiting for this one for a while. I really do find more appreciation to the perfumery after learning more from a expert nose in the industry. I usually look at perfumes from the notes described and find it harder to identify the other things going around like I’ve always said that Amouage’s Silver Oud has a weird but addictive sweetness but never have I pictured it the same if it weren’t for Aaron. Ethyl maltol, raspberry ketones and vanillin dancing around bridging a shell of heavy resinous oud, woods and animality. So good. Oh and about the castoreum, amouage is well known to get the best and rawest of materials but as for castroreum specifically I do believe it is an aromachemical considering data about imports for castoreum in Oman which has been at an all time low since 1996 and needs a pharmaceutical license to even import (Unconfirmed by Amouage nor Cécile Zarokian though)
My favourite is Amouage Gold, i tried Jubilation, Gold still does it for me. I use it very sparingly, only special occasions. If you get a chance, please review Gold. Cheers
Dior esprit du Parfums Oud isphan. Amazing rose and oud fragrance super concentrated that I think you will enjoy ! I really love high quality oud and rose and your onyx, luna, onyx extreme and Dior ispahan are all my daily go to fragrances. And a little goes a very long way! As always enjoyed your review !:)
Silver Oud supposed me. It's actually good, didn't expect it. Very important I don't go nose blind with this one. I got a lot of hours of enjoyment wearing it.
Absolutely spot on with the aromachemicals used. I'm studying this formula and yup,- huge dose of ethyl maltol and javanol, some raspberry ketone, to round out and support it all. I'm going to experiment inverting the vanilla and ethyl maltol content to see if it becomes unbalanced, and maybe including a bright floral for the opening. All in the name of education haha Castoreum can be most likely be the givco synthetic recreation of it, but there are some natural means that don't require killing the beaver, more in the vein of expressing the sac out of a sedated beaver like how vets do with dogs
@BRUXXUS There is genuine agarwood in this, so I use it. I have some fairly priced Thai 'fruity' aquilaria crassna and a 'skanky' assam aquilaria agallocha from Hermitage Oils. Both are great and not TOO expensive. The key is to run your trials at very low sample size, I only aim for around 1-2g of the finished test perfume. Gotta use a ton of dilutions and micropipettes haha
My favorite house it has a very interesting combination of fragrances…. I would like to hear your opinion on purpose… Amouage does a great job of capturing the moment…
I find your videos very interesting and your delivery is just right. I have been wearing Amouage Reflection 45 for most of the and am sadly disappointed. I don't think this is the house for me.😒
I've been trying out King Blue today, for the first time. It's a very strange experience for me. It would be nice to hear others' opinion on it. I find it at least interesting in the moment, but it does not strike me in any sort of personal or primal way at all like most Amouages.
@@Tranquilize779 not a perfect fit in the Amouage collection, but a lovely scent, nonetheless. For me it was meh, but I insisted and it grew on me to the point it became a favorite, a very comforting scent, an easy and warm take on oud, similar to the oud accord in Silver Oud, imo.
Aaron! I ordered this a while ago, its in Mexico at my mom's house. This new year I am visiting her with the family and picking this up along Interlude man and Complex by Boadicea The Victorious. I would love to see you review Complex! I heard is a monster!
I'm not sure whether Amouage uses natural castoreum but seeing as they're a house that prides themselves on using naturals I would hazard a guess they do. Natural castoreum is still relatively easily obtainable, due to the annual cull of beavers in Canada and other nations where they deem them to be "overpopulated".
Hey Aaron! Could you please review Xerjoff torino21 next? It is my favourite warm weather fragrance even though it doesn't last as much as other xerjoff fragrances do. I think you will love the smell!
Hi Arron, I hope you are doing well. A bit off topic I was just wondering if you have any information when will be any restock of your fragrances in the Woodberg online shop?
Royal Tobacco is astonishing. Very heavy smoky liquorice / aniseed though, and you absolutely need to want to wear it, as it won't dissipate for days. :)
hey aaron, there us a particular house that i really like and it's called jeroboam. they make extract de parfums and im abslutely obsessed with them i would love your thoughts on them
Not to be a dickhead but just to inform you. The word 'eau' in French is like 'ooh' in sound. "Ooh the parfume", water is 'l'eau' and sound like 'looh'. Some side info. Thanks for sharing your great content and knowledge.
To be honest what you typ is what i mean. :) I just made the word longer. But indeed that's how i also learned in school. (Not Englisch and French native speaker.)
I respect others' opinions on animal products, but I personally don't mind them as long as they are ethically harvested. Many respectable suppliers of real animalics source from hunters that are going to eat the deer or they hunt beavers that are overpopulated and are causing damage to ecosystems. In other words, the animals are being killed anyway and aren't being harmed or hunted just for their musk sacs. Some classic fragrances just aren't as good when made with synthetic versions.
I can remember when Antaeus had castoreum in it, it was sublime 👌 Musty ferret smell however is not sublime its very pungent and definitely an acquired taste 😂😂😂

Agreed. ❤

My humble opinion is that You are one of the best educated and the most sincere parfume reviewers. Best regards.

Yes, they use Castoreum absolute here. Great video! Also, I highly recommend you review overture from Amouage. My favorite from the house
Aaron, it's opus 13 brother, not 8. But excellent review, as always. Very scientific explanation 👍

Thank you
Thank you for your video Aaron! How would you, as a perfumer, give lift to a heavy formular like this?
I agree, increase to parfum concentration and add some bergamot
The castoreum in this is most likely the Castoreum Givco 116/6. Which is one of Givaudan 's bases
Could you review the Francesca Bianci line? I just got the sample set and they are very challenging for my nose 😂
What's a Amouage "summer" high temp weather scent?
•Portrayal Man, Aldehydic, somewhat-soapy clean
•Reflection Man, White Floral
•Search, citrus frankincense
•Beach Hut Man, Green minty ivy
•Meander, creamy bright woods
•Outlands, citrusy, floral & woody

I respect the house of Amouage and their complexity. However, this one isn't for me. There are much better fragrances from this house.
I can feel the sadness in your eyes while reviewing after detecting animal ingredients.
Relax, Sherlock, there's no animal in there, but lab made substitutes, really. French, to be more precise.

Yeah, surely Ms. Zarokian had no idea what she was doing. She ought to make a Sauvage-like scent to please every single nose out there 😂
Castoreum, commonly from both sexes of beaver (a rodent) has a musty ferret/urine, ammonia, smell to it. Quite pungent, not very nice.
