Was always wierd out by how supers take you to the shadow realm in this game
Agreed. If you keep doing supers the game makes you stay there. It happens at 5:05 in the Sean clip.
I think it’s neat. It’s like the characters use all their focus and their environment doesn’t matter; only the fight and their opponent
Reminds me of darkstalkers lol
New Gen was originally going to be a Darkstalkers game supposedly. The super flash and some of the stages make a lot more sense that way
Pretty much every capcom fighting game from 96 to 05 did that. I miss it
If anyone is curious, the Dudley infinite only works against another Dudley
Dudley Mobius
XD
No one can say it's unbalanced then. :)
Sounds lame.
Parrying in pre-3rd Strike SF3 has some wild physics, it's no wonder why they changed it. But what I love most about New Generation/2nd Impact is the stages. Look at all that beautiful art!
What’s strange about 3rd strike is how most stages have no spectators, it feels empty and soulless.
Let me play third strike with these stages@@mikeg2491
Why are these stages missing in Third Strike?
@@MrStalyn space reasons. More characters = less space for streets, less space for npcs
The older SF3 versions are better than Third Strike in some non gameplay aspects. Stages are one example.
Third strike parry goes TSSH! TSSH!
But New generation goes POF! POF!
In earlier games it was also a bit more like a block
I actually like the sound effects and audio in NG and 2I much more than 3S. The announcer is cooler and more dramatic, the sound effects you hear on KO have more impact and just overall...when I first played New Generation in the arcades, the visuals were obviously godlike but the SOUND is what really blew me away. It really FELT like a real Street Fighter sequel to 2, everything was so new and impactful! 3S has aspects about it that are great but in the audio department it really felt like a downgrade...OTHER then the parry sound, I agree it sounds much more satifisfying than the parry sounds in 2I!!
Poor Alex, even after parrying he was getting bodied. Lmao
Poor Alex in general. Randomly sounds like post-whitening Michael Jackson in this game whenever he supers.
yeah and his main character stage is stolen by Luke
I love the backgrounds and general staged of this. I think they’re cooler than 3s
Also Third Strike removed some fun details like stage transitions (between rounds), that existed in these first games.
*_PARRY THE PLATYPUS?!!_*
IT PERRY!
The arranged album is amazing. This song has incredible energy.
The “Let’s Go Justin!” alternate timelines 😂
2:53 Ryu "parry that!"
I fucking love ibuki's 1 button infinite
the microwalks make it at least somewhat challenging, but yeah its still funny asf
I always loved how the announcer from New Generation and Second Impact would say “ *KNOCKOUT!!* ” when you end the round with a Super. Makes it feel really powerful.
2:30 Average experience of maining Alex.
You can't escape!
*escapes*
Always loved the art and presentation of this one so much, sound effects, music, everything. It's peak street fighter for me, even if it's unpopular.
While I love 2nd impact nearly as much as 3s, a new generation never clicked with me
-very small roster consisting of characters I don't care about imo
-lack of ex moves
-weakest soundtrack in the 3 series
3 is still my fave SF of all time. I was skipping school with my buddies back in either 1999 or 2000 and went to a mall an hour away and found 3rd Strike and MvC 2 right next to each other and we were thrilled. I had never seen any version of SF3 before and fell in love with the whole presentation.
@@MrMeat-jv1hxweakest soundtrack in the series, yet it has my favorite versions of both Dudley and Ibuki's themes (as much as I love "You Blow My Mind")
There's this thing my brother used to do with his Dreamcast version of the game where he could change the properties of the game so that the characters could use all three of their supers and that more moves linked. I think he called, "turning off the dip switches." Either way, we played 3rd strike like that and it was a totally different game. You'd use all the supers because the edge cases where they were useful came up and low tier combo potential was higher. Not to mention some characters could use all three supers in one combo. It was super cool. I'm sure any emulated version of the game could do it but I've never seen a showcase of that version of the game let alone anyone playing it, lol. Something you might enjoy digging your teeth into, desk!
Air Parrying the Shinryuken, now that's sexy.
Ryu while Alex is parrying Shinku: "Parry this you filthy casual"
The New Generation arranged soundtrack is so underrated
What's crazy is I got into SF3 from 3rd strike, I actually didn't know for a bit that SF3, and SF32A were a thing at first. So things like the Ken's stage music, Dudley's theme, etc. all were "originally" the 3rd strike version. So when I finally happened upon a 2A cabinet a year or so later, I was like "WTF IS THIS!" it was like a fan made thing lol. The sounds were decidedly more early 90's, the music was like "arcade sound" versions of the songs, it really was a super interesting feeling.
2nd Ampact?
@@intensellylit4100 lol! Don't know where tf that came from but I sure was confident in it huh 😅
The fact is that 3S is actually the different one compared to the other two. You are saying things in a kind of inverted logic because you got to know the early games later. We could say 3S belongs to a kind of new movement in Capcom fg direction in the late 90s to make things "pop out" more and look more different than past works.
The way i see it, that new direction also includes examples like: the unique much more expressive art style of SFA3, that stands outs a lot compared to the similarity between A1 and A2 art styles; the unique presentation, overall vibe, ui design and music of CvS1 and MvC2, that is really different from the familiar "Capcom way" of doing things until then. If we pay attention, all these things were made between 98 and 00. That seemed to be a particularly more experimental period with presentation for Capcom's fg devs.
@@carlosaugusto9821dude they… know. They said that explicitly in their comment.
This is second impact, right?
Elena flip jumping over Alex was so cute.
New Generation has a special place in my heart. Before 6, it was my favorite street fighter game and my first introduction to supers.
Love the music choices a lot.
2:14 it fits so well with the music. Nice detail
New Gen had the best stages, by far. Changing places or even the time of day was a great touch!
the melodic timing at 2:15 seconds is some next level stuff.
I’ve wanted a NG combo vid like this for so long. Thanks Desk!!!
omg I LEFT MY SEAT watching that Dudley punish at the beginning. I WAS NOT READY. WOOOOOW Bravoooo!!!!
The SOUNDTRACK DAMNIT DESK 😮💨☕
Street Fighter 3 New Generation Arrange Album Jazzy NYC Latin Mix.
0:46 That full parry on Ken is absolutely gorgeous. 😩
Damn that song never gets old
God New Generation is such a beautiful game
Hey desk can you do a combo video of second impact in the widescreen mode? i wonder if it had different properties
The first match with Dudley and Elena, the hits and parries are very close to being in time with the BGM. The final uppercut hits are really close to the staccato horn notes. Dunno if you did that on purpose, but cool either way.
Shout out for using the arranged ost
THE PARADIDDLE PARRY AGAINST NECRO? I see you out here with that one Desk!
If this came out today, folks would be crying for nerfs! lol
Great video Desk!
In the Dudley mirror, it felt like Dud had the Steve Fox infinite from Tekken 5...
That post KO super by Dudley was freaking du-dastardly
Elena VS. Alex hurt my soul ☠️
That Ken 3x SRK was sick
0:56
Ken: Ah..so this is what it feels like...
Whoa I'll always love the nostalgia of the mid 90s goin to the arcade & placing my quarter on the dash waiting for my turn while watching sets play out & learned so much. The timing for parrying was slower then the rest of the series and air parry's would push your chrc forward or backwards. Still thanks @Desk for making this one especially for us Ol' heads 😂
This is incredible
This is the most beautiful game. I love it.
New gen and 2nd impact has a lot of interesting things about it, the stages and music! Music was best in new generation!
Awesome video! Who's the band that's playing Jazzy NYC? This is so dope!
It's from the New Generation Original Arrange album, it's the latin mix but a whole bunch of people worked on that
2:15 that shoryuken sync with the song tho
The parries kept getting wilder and wilder. The beam and sustained AOE ones are insane
my dyslexic ass read the title as "a new generation of praying" 💀
4:27 Alex was like "ENOUGH!!!" [Proceed to bodyslam]
Yea, me too desk...
Such a beautiful game!
That SF3 music mix is 🔥🔥🔥
The Doctor Light of techs
You can't escape!
*escapes*
Ok now this is epic
Love these games
Wth......the level of dopeness.....dude.
istg Desk be the type of guy who'd successfully parry a raging demon
1:46 I've been informed that this string is unique / exclusive to Dudley mirrors
The worst part of Capcom's updated editions is that the old stages are left behind.
Very nice
Parry Me Parry Me...!
The game that literally invented the parry mechanic and gave it it's name.
New desk vid hell yeah
Evo its gonna be crazyy
New Generation is still the best looking SF3 game imo.
@desk: Can you do a combo video with Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper from GBA?
I'm sensing some hostility towards Alex
Song name is Street fighter 3 New Generation Arrange Album - Jazzy NYC Latin Mix
Nice video
Not sure about how interesting this idea is... but have you thought of making a variety fg combo video involving all chars who have a Shoryuken-like move? Strictly the jumping uppercut (not Rising Tackle, Cannon Spike, etc). To show the scope of influence of this move in the whole genre.
1:46 Crispy links my beloved
Talvez certos golpes vc possa passar pras costas do cara fazendo combos shoryuken por exemplo
Stick, hitbox o path the combos?
Can you show how you did it?
Ah yes, Third Generation. The game full of INSANE style
New *
Podia fazer vídeo de colisões d especiais pra ver os efeito ou os melhores em cada jogo ou colidir especiais pra ver no q dá seria interessante
What is this awesome remix of Jazzy NYC I’m hearing?
Love me some NG love
This game is the definition of "You don't need to nerf anyone if everyone is broken"
Jokes aside: this game did age so well, one of the coolest street fighter games ever made
Even this parry sound is good, if only SF6 had cool parries (parry built into a block button likeMK11 doesnt count)
Thankfully someone made a SF3 parry sound mod for SF6
Thankfully, they nerfed Ryu's ability to combo into shinshoryuken, because it was crazy how many TOD combos he had in this game.
Janky ass game I love it
2:15 Average Deshiken round
evo moment 1 through 36
Awesome! I want to know what other fighting games have parry system.
So far, I know Garou Mark of the Wolves.
Dea desk. You used lever , htbox or fighting pad in this video?
My drive meter……😢
What song is this?
Alex Theme Latin Mix
Why are all these stages missing in SF3 Third Strike?
Well, in principle it was a good thing that a new yearly release had totally different stages. In SF2 that didnt exist, except like changing the time of the day in a new version. And in SFA each game have a different stage. And in Darkstalkers and the first two SF3 versions there are some repeated stages, and both DS3 and SF3 3S added completely new stages. That is actually cool... The only problem is that the new 3S stages in many cases are worse, or didnt improve anything. It's similar to SFA3, where many (not all) stages are worse than A1 and A2 stages.
@@carlosaugusto9821A3 stages are superior than A2 stages, those ones cause the game speed to be different on some stages. A3 doesn’t have this issue as much, if at all.
Back in NG and SI, you could control your direction after parrying--I think 3S got rid of that
It doesn't get much more hype than desk dropping a Third Strike parry video on a Friday
Not third strike
What’s the background music?
>no gill
call the cops
Não q seje regra mais parece q se o personagem ficar no canto for pro alto e tu bater antes pode fazer combos monstruosos ou até infinitos em alguns casos
..SF3 was so ahead of itself..still gonna find new tech in 3024😅..great clip!!
What‘s the Name of the Music?
Street fighter three the second generation you can tell by the combos you can also tell by the animation background super it’s in third strike that it is in the second one
It's actual New Generation.
You lose!
@@FelixMuk good call
SF3 is crazy broken. I love it 😈
