Great review. Thanks. What surprises me is the pricing of these lights. At this point Aputue with very similar in concept 60w light with an option for a handheld operation that comes with a case is cheaper than Godox. The new Aputure amaran COB 60d and 60x are ~40% cheaper than Godox ML 60. Not to mention that Aputure's lights support standard bowens mount and have a mobile app to operate wirelessly via bluetooth. At first I was excited about the Godox ML60 Bi, but decided to get Aputure amaran COB 60x instead. It's just cheaper and doesn't require to buy the adapter for the mount that also increases the price.

Thanks for your input. Always appreciated. The Aputure 60 series have more to do with the Godox S60, but not really with the ML Series. It’s a completely different type of light.

@@ArtVideoProductions You are probably thinking about a different Aputure light. The new Aputure amaran COB 60x is a direct competitor to Godox ML60 Bi. It's a very small light for a similar use-case with V-mount on the light suitable for a handheld operation exactly like Godox ML60 Bi.

I agree with you. With the big push Aputure has been making into the budget market as of late, like with their Amaran line for example, I think a lot of light companies are going to have problems selling their lights at higher prices. Especially considering Aputure made the very smart decision to make even their budget lights work with their pretty fantastic Sidius Link app.

@@GeraldBertramPhotography This is a classical defense move against a disruptor. In the theory of disruptive innovation, a disruptor usually introduces a much cheaper product of a good enough quality inferior to the industry leader's product. These "good enough" and "cheaper" parts allow the disruptor to take a very big chunk of a lower part of the market. It even increases the size of the market by attracting an audience that wasn't ready to pay for an expensive leading product. The economics and low margins of the disruptor are usually uneconomical for a leader to do the same and protect itself in time. If the leader blinks it becomes too late - the disruptor who already owns a big chunk of the lower and middle market goes upmarket with higher quality and more expensive products to start competing directly on the leader level and cutting off an even bigger part of the market on top.
Here we observe a classic and the only possible business move - the leader disrupts the disruptor and introduces an even less expensive product than the disruptor's product. This Aputure Amaran product line is exactly the defense against Godox and Neewer - the market disruptors. Now Godox's product is not only inferior to Aputure's Amaron line but also more expensive. I'm eager to watch all the coming reviews of Aputure Amaran COB 60d and Amaran COB 60x lights and comparison to Godox ML60. As I remember reviews of Aputure Amaran 100/200d/x were really positive and made it a no-brainer to buy.

Thanks for sharing another best review of lighting products. A couple of thoughts/feedback. 1. I watched your 3 videos about how to strap the Godox power adapter on a light stand using a velcro strap instead, but I still don't know how to make it step by step. Any chance you can show us in the next video? 2. The old Godox reflectors shared by their strobe flashes and continuous LED lights can take one of those round grids, but for the new so called hyper reflectors on their continuous LED lights, they no longer make that lip to accept the old grids, no to mention ML60 is on its own size. Those grids actually are very effective and inexpensive accessories. 3. Too bad they didn't ship you the 3 lights kit. I am really curious about the kit bag, and whether the bag can fit 3 ML60 lights instead.

    • @ArtVideoProductions
      @ArtVideoProductions  2 роки тому +1

Thanks man, I really appreciate it. On the new reflectors, yes, they should come up with a solution for installing grids.
If you buy the kits, the included Godox kit bags will accommodate everything that comes with that kit. Watch this 2 minute video, the case is shown at the end but very briefly ua-cam.com/video/5Juj5nPNBYw/v-deo.html
The ML30 lights are very new so they may not be available for immediate shipping. Also, If you use my affiliated links on the description, they don’t cost you anything extra and it helps my channel as I receive a tiny commission from BH or Amazon.
On how to attach the power supply to the light stand, here’s the link ua-cam.com/video/I-PK2-ZL890/v-deo.html Advance to 34:59.
To buy the self adhesive little cushion pad I showed, here’s the link for the BEST one you can by which is what I use! amzn.to/3xyKS29

@@ArtVideoProductions Many thanks for the Godox link. Looks like it can also fit 3 ML60.
Aha, I missed your review on SZ150R. It answered my question. It was 2 velcro straps, the fuzzy one sticks to the power adapter and the coarse one to strap it to the light stand.
Also one tip to share. I think you can stick some window gels on the ML30 silicone light modifiers to create some interesting cucoloris background.

Yet another fantastic review there. I'd actually call your videos mini-workshops! I'm planning to buy one of these lights (perhaps the daylight only model) and wondering how different they are from using an LED panel light like the Godox 500/1000? The primary reason for me to use an LED panel or flexible mat is the smaller form factor, especially with diffusion or slimmer softbox, but products like the ML30 bring a new dimension to portability and usability. Looking forward to a video from you that compares different light types and what fits which use case better. This will be especially useful for hobby content creators.

When it comes to Aputure lights, what they make best are the high end lights. The Amaran is a budget series from them as you know. I haven’t had the chance to compare the two in hands but what I can tell you for sure is that the Godox ML 30 and 60, the fans are whisper quiet, made of Metal and the colors are extremely accurate. Hi Adrian, and thanks for watching abs for your feedback. Every video I make, I look at my analytics. I wish I could attach a screen shot of the “audience retention” which is pretty impressive. Yes, most people watch it and without fast forwarding. That’s why I continue to do it this way. There’s a channel called “gaffer and gear” (I’m sure you know it). Many reviews are as long as 50 minutes.
The power difference between the ML30 and 60 is exactly that. 50%. You’ll need to bring the ML30 half closer to a wall to get the same exposure.
Fan noise: this is a topic that people really want to get as much info and demo as possible (again, the positive analytics). If there was a dip on it, I would have stopped doing or try another approach. But to be honest, for the fan part, I’ll try shortening things.
      Thanks again for your feedback.
