We had Hospice at home the last 2 months of Mom's life. We needed help managing meds for Mom's pain (fractures due to osteoporosis) and anxiety from Alzheimer's. Hospice ordered the wheelchair, walker, hospital bed, Depends, bed protectors, etc. They came in to wash her hair, bath her and evaluate her condition. Mom enjoyed the music therapy and Chaplin visits. We were blessed that our dear Mom did not have to die alone in a nursing home due to Covid restrictions.

Thank you so much for sharing your intimate experience and pain with those of us who need it. God bless. I trust that things will become easier for you, as time passes.

My husband and I have used Hospice for 3 parents in their 80s. They all had different issues, but hospice served them all in the end which our siblings needed badly for comfort.

I wish the music was quieter or my hearing was better. It was hard to understand.

I wish we had been told about hospice for my husband Ken 12 years ago. In moms case, who just died on January 15th 2019, she took sick in October, chose to fight and when palliative was finally started she died very quickly (2 days) after, so I hadn't even known about palliative care until just before she died. I thought Canada was better equipped than to wait until it's too late to finally even offer palliative. 😢😭😢😭😢😭😢😭😢

I bet if you're living on social security and only have Medicaid you're not getting this service

Can't speak for hospice care in the US but in the UK hospice care isn't denied to anyone based on economic status. I receive hospice care 1 day per week which includes lunch/beverages. I can access varied therapies and counseling, and for that I make a donation, around £10 though if I couldn't afford it then I wouldn't be turned away. Hospices in the UK rely on public donation/ fund raising and service users leaving a sum of money in their Will if that's suitable. I live on welfare so hospice is a valuable asset to me.

Hospice is the best place to die. Seen too many people die in bleak side rooms in squalid NHS hospitals. If the NHS is so wonderful why does virtually every British doctor have private health insurance.

      Speed...No waiting..NHS so slow....
Iprivately run hospitals can only dream of the huge huge amounts of money the NHS has had..
