Every time I visit Bangkok I'll wake up early, take a train to Saphan Taksin and board a river taxi along the Chao Phraya for an hour to the last pier. Cool and fresh air at 6-7am.
I have been to the top of King Power Mahanakhon and Baiyoke Tower to see the views. I did the Chao Praya River Cruise at night and day. Strolled around Lumphini Park as well as Chinatown, did the main temples along the river like Grand Palace, Wat Pho and Wat Arun.

For a 5 day tour in Bangkok, what is most recommended? Not too keen about hiking or trekking. Major foodies and interested in historical sites.
