Thank you so much for the information i just started stock photography i only have 2 sales on Shutterstock worth $0.45 . I watched your videos these gave me so much ideas. Your videos gave me motivation.
Aweosme! So glad to hear 🙌
@maryamrajpoot-mr6 I've been a long-time Alamy contributor (15,000 images) but just recently started Shutterstock. I have just over 600 images there now and am starting to see traction. The dime payments are discouraging BUT once you have a lot of photos, they start adding up nicely!
As Mr. Wollertz says, if you enjoy it, THAT is the initial reward. It's not a get rich scheme, but if you like what you do and get your numbers up, the financial rewards, though modest, will eventually come. This channel always encourages me when I'm in a mental funk.
Hang in there, and good luck in your endeavors. 😊
@@CarmenSisson thanks Carmen
Another great video. I always walk away with new ideas and motivation to improve my business. Good to see you got a sponsor, Kartra, I'm going to check them out. Thank You
Thanks so much Greg! I know, I’m excited about finally having a sponsored video. I’ve turned down many because the companies seemed sketchy or dishonest. Kartra seems straight forward.
I have trouble getting that many different shots during one shooting, if I shoot let's say food at home, I don't think even get 10 different shots. Any tips on that?
It happens, I’ve leaned its beat to start simple and then start adding more props, change backgrounds, change plates, different plates on different backgrounds, no plate, close ups as well as wides and different perspectives.
A burger on a white background, black background, white plate white background, white plate back background, close up with each background, now wide with each background, add fries, or salad, maybe bacon, use a cutting board or a table as a background top down view, side view, 45 degree view and just keep changing compositions
Food looks good. Congrats on your sponsorship 🎉. Great, informative video.
Can you believe it! I finally got someone to sponsored a video 😁.
The food was good, cold but still good. It was the salt technique that made it good 😁
Thank you Charles, yet another great video and very inspiring. Straight from the heart. Only a passionate photographer can speak with so much conviction 🙏
Thanks so much!
That’s it exactly, straight from the heart. I can only share my experiences and wish to help others as I’ve been helped! Cheers 🙌
Great video Charlie!
Thanks so much!
You are right Charles...work...work...work...you must love it and after is changing to...fun...fun..fun :)
Thanks Miro!
Great video, Gives some boost to upload more photos and videos and get on track .. Thanks.
Glad to hear!
Thanks so much for the comment 🙌
Great video. Can I ask - do you have any rejection for similarity? I often shot 3-5 photos on photoshot, than send for example 1 or 2 photo per submit to avoid rejection. Still sometimes they reject me some photos that are similar. Last Istock rejected me photo of whole pond with special flower when second photo is detail on flower itself.
Do you send all photos together?
Thank you
It depends on how similar the photos are. I took 100 images and selected 45 that were different enough. Shutterstock accepted all of them, Getty rejected 1 and Adobe still pending 🤷♂️.
I find that as long as I move around and change plates and lights, most get accepted
@@wollertz OK thank you
Great video Charlie, thanks mate!!
I’m glad you like it! 🙌
Thanks for the comment 😁
Bringing the value, as always.
I am very interested in the technique of focus stacking. I love to shoot food, but I'm terrible at it.
I'm considering using Lume panels and Lume cubes, but I don't know if they're worth the money. I currently use Nikon speedlights and just bought two Westcott Rapid Octas that are intimidating me. Haven't shot with them yet. My speedlights are flaky and won't always come on or stay on.
I have enthusiasm for decades, but I live with my family (just turned 51) as I care for my mother with dementia. They can't see my dream or vision, all they see is the pitiful paychecks and the way everything I own is patched together and falling apart. They don't understand anyone who doesn't do a traditional 9-5.
It hurts that they label me as lazy when I'm working more (and harder) than I ever did as an editor and staff reporter/photographer. It's very hard to walk your own path and ignore naysayers who don't get the vision that has become your single-minded purpose.
Thanks so much for sharing.
My favorite lighting method are speed lights 100%!
I can eliminate glare from other light sources and use only my se up. Scound would be LED pannels or cobb lights, Lume cubes are great but pricey, look into neewer, they always have a sale going 😅 or use Wollertz21! for 21% discount (it only works if they have a sale thats less than 21%)
I totally understand how you feel about your family, I have the same "problem" everyone thinks I don't do anything, or that the little I do is reflected in my pay checks. Its not easy swimming against the current. Building your own business with photography can be very intimidating to other people, because secretly its what most people want, but wont dedicate the time to do so 🤷♂️.
I'm sure taking care of your mother is a full time job as it is, photography gives you the flexibility to work around that schedule and that has to be worth a lot right there.
I wish you the best, and I hope you see the light at the end of the tunnel soon. Stay focused 🙌🏼.
This is a video I made a while ago on blending apertures, the original focus stacking 😁
ua-cam.com/video/1I8JlznWjEo/v-deo.html
Currently I am near Australia's Snowy Mountains and it is winter, I have been shooting various subjects mostly as editorial, the data shows people searching for the keywords, but none of the images have sold yet and I suspect I haven't captured pictures of what they are looking for, So I keep shooting.
Another inspiring video. My biggest problem is writing unique descriptions for each video or pic. Any ideas there?
Thanks so much! 🙌
I think we all struggle with this, that’s why I like doing sessions of the same subject then most of them can share the same title and description, I might change something like blue plate to white background or wooden serving tray but that’s about it, keep it simple and save time 😅
@@wollertz Yes, work quick, improvise, this is not movie, this is only B-roll, but cane be used in movie :) I have many ideas on paper but I use only parts from them
May be Chat GPT can help you or you can probably find the inspiration from similar photos or videos already published.
Hi Charles. At the 7 min mark you mention watching a video by Chris How? I think that's what you said. Can you please share a link or confirm the spelling of his name. Thanks Charles and as ever, thank you for your great videos 👍
Found it!

@@wollertz Thanks Charles. Much appreciated 👍
That's basically what I've been doing. Thank you
Awesome! Best of luck
Hello. Can you explain more clearly what type of lighting you use for your home photoshoots? There are many types of lighting, and this causes confusion for many. Thank you
Will do!
I use many types of lighting as well. For this I only used 2 COB LED lights

@@wollertz thank you
I uploaded my first photos they are accepted, but i see the price is only 9 euros, do you know how to get higher prices?
The price depends on the usage of the photo, and weather the buyer buys it outright or uses a subscription. My average per download is about $1
thanks you for information
Any time
Very interesting video with lots of useful tips you can apply not only for stock photography but elsewhere as it takes time and dedication to succeed.
If you shoot food photography like you did with your avocado toast, it's an opportunity to cook, to try new recipes and to eat better quality food than if you buy a ready-made dish from a supermarket.

Th ask so much for this comment!
I'm looking for a third party program to help track stats and royalties across platforms. Does anything like this exist?
Years ago I was using microstockr.com
then they starting charging for some features and I haven't looked back since. It might be free again 🤷♂️
Thanks
Of course! 🙌
