At that level of corrosion, I'd scope the exhaust on those. They are known to fail and leak. Normally when they fail, you can see water coming out the above water exhaust port

Mine had had a pin hole from corrosion in the block above the thermostat, under the fly wheel. Seems to be a common problem with these. You should have pulled the zincs in the heads by the spark plugs while you had the thermostats out and flushed it with salt remover. Those zincs have probably never been replaced.

You might want to put together a preventive maintenance schedule boats need heavy maintenance on a regular basis not just when things go bad
how long does should one expect this job to take per motor?
Does the hole or white dot have to be facing upwards?
