  • An ASO or allele-specific oligonucleotide is a short fragment of synthetic DNA that is complementary to the sequence of a variable target DNA.
    As the definition includes variable target dna, that simply means it actually detects the mismatch in the dna or more importantly snps.

    Great, but I wonder about the answers to the questions at the end of the video and also about whether the Aso probe is complementary to the normal sequence or mutant one or each of them have it is own complementary Aso probe

      ASO...allele specific oligonucleotide, specifically desihned for a particular allele to distingush it from the other.
      Use of the 1/2 ASOs (normal + mutant) depends on the technique being used.
      Watch tetra ARMS
