I really love Arishem´s voice. It has a certain level of wisdom and benevolence to it.

So we trade one planet for a Celestial, who then makes galaxies? Seems like a net profit overall.

They monitor the universe

It reminds me of a philosophical dilemma that I've seen on the web. If you have to choose between saving 1 or 5 person at the hospital due to material constraints, anyone would obvisouly go for the outcome where maximum people survive. However, there's a harder version of that dilemma. 5 people come at the hospital and the only way to save them is to go back to a person you saved 5 years ago and ask him to give up on a specific device that was implanted in him back then (which would result in his death). It's still a 5 vs 1 dilemma but I would argue that the choice isn't obvious anymore.
@@rialyandriamiseza9814 stab all 6
@@rialyandriamiseza9814 The choice might not be "obvious" but if objective morality exists (good/evil,right/wrong) and its anything like what our society instills in us then not self sacrificing for the greater good would be evil, immoral, wrong. Thus Eternals were evil... Besides Celestials are gods and if objective morality exists it must be god given trancending natural laws so good would be whatever they decide, which leads eternals again being evil.
However since objective morality doesnt exist IRL any debate about morality is just subjective perspective and driven by the self interest of the one presenting. Moral codes are formed based on self interest of those who hold power. Thats why Humans have rights and human to human violence is restricted and frowned upon (serves selfish self interest of majority of humans; Thomas Hobbes) whereas murdering and treating cruelly sentient feeling mammals with the intelligence of 3 year old humans is fine (pigs). Again if objective morals exists buying/hunting meat if not necessary for survival would make you evil.
Murdering, torturing, keeping slaves, raping for pleasure is neither good or evil, it just is universe doesnt care. In the end only way to have any meaning to your morals, albeit shallow and meaningless, is to actualize your view in real world. It comes down to power, "might makes it right", and any outcome that happens is "just".
And in this case killing celestial was the right thing because eternals had the power to actualize it.
That one scene creates the ability that any of the Eternals can come back.
They very well could be rebuilding Ikarus, Gilgamesh, Ajax, and even Sprite inside the World Forge.
@@Cerberusballswhy would they rebuild some eternals😭
Some of them prob died before in previous missions. They would never know.
@@marcusobrien384 because they're basically organic, immortal robots built by celestials, and then have their memories erased in each emergence of a celestial, much like a robot having its memory wiped.
so it's possible that they can be back as their same selves, just in a different way possible
Yeah they do in the comics all the time.
Celestials need their own movie or a show. one episode for each Celestial
yeah i loved them in this movie but tbh hated msot of the eternals hahaha. It was a lackluster movie but there is some cool lore in there about how eternals are created - how the celestials are born from ripe planets - and also a very true fact of how war advances technology, technology advances medicine, medicine allows tons more people to be alive for longer and at all during their own births, so you get a skyrocketting population that then feeds the celestial. And Galactus comes around and kills celestial babies essentially as he feeds on planets that ARE CLOSE to popping. It's got very little fat on it as a nice complex premise for explaining how ceestials are created and also the motivations of galactus in one fell swoop. It's a great concept woven into a fact of technological advancement that applies to reality right now. I also like how the celestials present themselves kind of as Gods but really in teh scope of the hierarchy or pantheon if you will of deities and powerful beings, a lot of them ain't shit tbh.
They also if I recall correctly more or less provoked the war with the Beyonders who were a linear universe species and could not come up with a way to travel to our multiple universes so they started destroying them one by one, slaughtering the celestials en masse was the first signs of this happening across teh multiverse. Then where Dr. Doom managed to halt their advance by using molecule man to destroy like 1000 universes at once was fucking awesome :D
They are really sinister in that respect but I feel like it's kind of in their nature, they can only breed by exploding out of planets full of billions of sentient life forms, that's a rough call to make, keep up the gross cycle or die off like a wimper because of the morality of it all? idk... we know what humans would do. We'd fuck up a lot of people in order to save our selves or our close loved ones or friends. That's how our brains are wired. Anyway i found them VERY interesting. Such a massive creature even being alive in the first place has got me hooked, my dude Arishem can make his own wormholes and safely approach earth with his entire body in its gravity well like that too which means he can probably dampen his own gravity field some how which let's him move around the universe without accidently throwing planets around by moving too fast or something. And it's not just idk technology or whatever, their species is cosmically powerful in this way i think its not all just tech altho that does seem to be a big part of it. It's kind of insane that they through all of their power haven't simply found a way to peacefully replicate their species...
I don’t think they need a movie or a show I would rather have stories and the mysterious side of them
I agree. I think maybe someone at Marvel entertainment should think about making a (CELESTIALS) cartoon show series, or maybe if possible make a live-action show series about the (CELESTIALS).
I also think other questions should be answered; Such as who created the process of CELESTIALS being formed, and who made the first CELESTIAL?
We already have somewhat of an episode about a celestial he was in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. Except he was corrupted and under a false interpretation that he was alone and in doing so he tried to create the expansion of himself what he didn't encounter was falling in love with a human and giving birth to a son who's true destiny live beyond the expansion and in doing so he was defeated by a tree creature. This Celestial is known as ego The Living Planet. Besides eternals was Marvel's ultimate failure not to say that it was wonderful in comics but it is not meant for films. Now I don't think anybody wants to see that movie after what transpired with Ezra Miller and also I hate Richard Madden

I'm surprised they didn't dig deeper and have Arishem explain the history of the Celestials. Arishem mentioning their creator would allow the MCU to do Eternity War. Actually guarantee you the Eternals is leading up to Eternity War with the rise of the First Firmament and the return of the Aspirants aka Dark Celestials.

i doubt any of this movie will be used at all in the future. I don't think they even once touch on the fact that a giant hand is in the middle of the ocean and a literal god appeared in the sky.

Yeah, it was lacking something.
@@tac7826 It could have been fleshed out more if this was a series.
This should have been a series since there were too many plot twists with too many characters.
Each episode could have focused on each one's story with a satisfying ending. A movie is a terrible format to tell such a complicated story in.
The problem is we didn't get the flesh out the world. We didn't get to explore how each of them got to live after they separated and how they came to "love" humanity.
We did not get to see the human side or perspective so we could not connect to them.
They did try this with the immortals by making it into a show instead of a movie but they didn't have a good direction with the story or a good plot but this movie had a good plot but not enough run time.
Ikr. They repeat the same DCEU mistake.

If thanos actually was an eternal, he probably was going crazy like Thena.
if the celestials really care about the cycle then they should have stop the dark elves, ego the living planet, Thanos
Not really... they're not going to jump in every time some villain threatens reality. Ego WAS a Celestial, and they generally don't interfere with each other unless absolutely necessary. As for Thanos, he wasn't threatening the cycle itself, just half the life in the universe. But in general, it all comes down to the same trope as the comic books - where are all the other heroes at when Spider-Man or the Fantastic Four or the X-Men (or any other hero) is facing some huge threat to the city or world? It makes sense when Thor doesn't call the Avengers for some god-level villain, and you COULD argue that Tony Stark is too arrogant to ask for help, but in general it makes no sense.
There were 2 Celestials in Zeus's realm possibly hiding from Gorr. Knull wants the universe to return to darkness.
Base on a comic, celestials cannot interfere with each other. As for Thanos, he is far more powerful when he has all six infinity stones than a regular celestial. If they have some kind of with each other, they have to pass through the high Tribunal or the Living Tribunal itself.

I like the part where he says building stars and galaxies using the energy of planets. I wonder if the people who made this movie even begin to understand these cosmic scales. I mean, lets talk home. Jupitar, the largest planet in our solar system, has a mass of well over 300 times that of earth and it's soo big it can fit roughly 1300 earths inside it. Although that sounds like a lot, it's hardly comparable to the sun. A fun fact about our sun; If you cram together all the matter in our solar system, our sun would make up 99.86% of the total mass. All the planets, moons, asteroids, comets, gas and dust; That's just 0.02%. And don't even get me started on galaxies. This studio got absolutely melted when they tried to scale up their marvel movies.
What does Arishem do in their free time ?? Is he 100% dedicated to the cause or is there some celestial bar with happy hour
There is absolutely no reason for Arisheim to tell Cersei all the lies she has been told and believed for her entire life. Like - what's the point? May as well just say "Hey by the way, I have lied to you forever and now I expect you to go ahead and participate in killing billions of people because I said it's for the best!". Also I find it hard to believe that Arisheim couldn't tell, know or figure out that Cersei was going to try to save the planet and stop the Eternal emergence from happening. One of those after movie thoughts (for me it was during the movie but I tried hard to not think about it) that really make you realize how poorly written the movie really was.
I don't think Arisheim ever lied to her. It was the team lead at the time that did.
The eternals are programmed I wouldn’t expect an iPad to try be a washing machine don’t call it poorly written because you paid attention poorly
My guess is, since Arishem is like a God he knew what the Eternals would do, but decided to let it play out to see where it is going to lead, and if the people on this planet we humans, are worthy to live, and thats why he will return to judge us. Given the current state our planet is, yeah Arishem could be out right now judging us

Kind of agree. Although I generally enjoyed the films, one of the letdowns was not having Olympia. The impression of the eternals being robotic was also a fail although a sequel could rescue this by depicting them as genetically modified with celestial tech. They kind of have to do something so that they can explain how Sprite ended up.
There's no olympia no polaria and only 10 of them on earth the budget wasn't big enough for the rest of earth eternals it seems especially wanted to see zuras
The MCU is its own universe. If everything was exactly the same as the comics then they might as well not even do the MCU.

They are responsible for mankind's potential to gain superhuman powers as well as the creation of various races and life forms in the universe, the most know being the race of Godlike beings know as the Eternals and Deviants, the opposite of the Eternals.
Idc what anyone says this movie was amazing.
Lol sure buddy😂😂😂
According to US Movies, USARMY still got this😂
Movies like this almost always fail because they have characters so powerful that no human viewers can identify with. This is why we don’t have movies where God is the central character because having absolute power over everything gives God nothing to do. No conflict and drama. He cannot find himself in a corner with seemingly no way out.
Hmmm, just a thought, that is perhaps the appeal of the Christian story then, from a narrative standpoint. It reconciles the God story with it's unrelatability to Man.
What is the one thing an unlimited God lacks? Limitation. The concept of the Incarnation makes the centrality of God suddenly human and relatable, God can now be cornered, and His life culminates in a dramatic tragedy, before the miraculous Victory of the Resurrection.
It really is, from a narrative standpoint, the perfect story.
Doesn't matter how powerful a being is in the marvel universe, they'll always have conflict even if they are a god
And there is Saitama
The celestials being ultra powerful have nothing to do with the movie being bad.
That's a really shitty reason.
