NF is one of my all time favorite artists. He is so raw and emotional in his songs. This song is from his latest album “Hope”, which is all about him moving on from his pain and old self. His song “Happy” from the same album was actually what finally convinced me that I needed to go to therapy. It’s so powerful! You should also check out “How Could You Leave Us” to understand more of his story and the hurt he’s been living in. All of his songs are good though. Definitely enjoyed this reaction!

The "I appreciate all you've been able to help me accomplish, but I can't keep doing this" message of this song really hits.

This song was the last song on his current album, Hope. When you’ve been thru the NF journey and you’re intimately aware of and connected to it, this song, as the culmination of it all, is so incredible, and so perfect.

There's a really deep sense of deep self-empathy. In Nate's earlier music, his relationship with those self-destructive aspects of himself was a typical one of fighting against that aspect of himself. Hating it, wanting to bury it in the backyard, wanting to reject it and take his life back and loathing that aspect that was affecting his life. And with maturity and growth and hard work on himself, he's come to ACCEPT those aspects of himself. He can acknowledge, and accept, that side of himself, he can empathize with it, appreciate how it served him in the past. But also, how he needs to move forward, and like friends we've grown away from, it's ok to sometimes move on, and say goodbye and wish them well.
I love that the aspects of loathing of his "darker self" are gone, and it's been replaced with empathy. Because those aspects are ALSO him. It's really powerful to see someone start to figure that out (I'm still working on it myself). That, combined with the beautiful production and Nate's talent for making a soulful touching song just brings it all home.

You could almost say this was the last episode of season six of his Journey‼️ From the beginning to now there were so many insights into mental health. Major Trauma until he's found HOPE. 💔❤️‍🩹♥️

This was fantastic!!! You guys need to do more NF! I know everyone will chime in and say you need to do the journey. If you want to see the entire NF arc, go for it, it’s awesome! But, he has a HUGE discography and I’ve seen many great reactors get overwhelmed and write it off. So, if the whole journey is too much to commit to, I suggest the list below in order (IMO):
    Mansion
    Therapy Session
    How could you leave us
    Intro III
    Let you down
    The Search
    Leave me alone
    I hate myself
    Change
    Hope
    Happy
    Mama
    Mistake
    Running (Already done)
I’m sure others will chime in with their favorites, these are mine. :)

Speaking as a fellow LPC/LMHC, NF's music is truly an emotional journey. His discography is a glimpse into the life of a person whose traumas early in life led to the depths created by anxiety and relational dysfunction as a result of fear and anger. This journey took him through the desolation of utter despair to the point where he is now where he at least has the promise of hope. Through his music he has an amazing ability to connect with the listener on an emotional level. I use a lot of his music in my counseling work to resonate with topics such as forgiveness, anxiety, hope, and grief. I would love to see a deep dive into the NF journey, but if not, he still has some powerful songs worth listening to. Thanks for covering Running, which is the pinnacle of his music catalogue, and thus his emotional journey, to date.

Subbed for more NF! Every song is dope. Don't worry, some of NF's best songs don't have videos. We don't mind if there isn't a video, unless NF has an official video which you always want to watch. Now that is how you are supposed to do a reaction to an NF song! We want to see you connect to the song!

To me I picture the comfort of the confines of a cacoon... we have now entered that moment of saying goodbye to the familiar and 'safe space' of our known existence up to this point and then?.... comes the faith to know that our wings will soon unfold and dry to the stage of that first attempt to flap these new wings of freedom but also risking the flight into the unknown that leads us to more risk while multiplying the reward of the joy in the journey we have left on this time line.... ;)

My perspective on this song is that it's about acceptance. Nf has gone through a long journey battling and dodging regret. He has quite a few songs, that try to motivate him to overpower these feelings. But it never works. Running is not about saying goodbye to the dark depressive parts of his past. It is about accepting his history and the parts of him he dislikes, as part of himself. It is saying goodbye to the dodging and avoidance of those emotions so he can feel whole again and learn to love himself as he is.

My therapist and I sat down last week and I shared this song with her. We discussed it and broke it down and then she had the idea that I should add my own images to it. I can't describe how powerful it was to do that. I would love if you watched the song with my video added to it. To me it is definitely about breaking free from that relationship with my warped self before therapy. There's also a reconnecting with my childhood self mixed in. I would love if you gave it a watch or did a reaction video to my fan made version of this song! I left the link to it on my UA-cam below

Story time: After a couple signs ppwk for a divorce, there used to be a finalization waiting period called a “cool off period”. It was implemented to counteract future regret.
Then they even got rid of that. Now you can get divorced and a happy meal via drive thru and the ink is dry before the burger is even cooked.
It’s really sad to think about how easy they’ve made it to implicitly sin with no remorse or consequences.
How can differences be reconciled if never given the chance?
