@@leonstraatman1857 hoi Leon, bedankt voor jouw reactie. The 80's, dat waren tijden met AFOS, New Musik, The Buggles, Prefab Sprout, enz. Groetjes Dirk.
I bumped into a colleague of mine recently who had a new dog called Lenny. When I started singing 'LENNY!', I had to explain it was a Buggles song from 1982. She only remembered 'Video killed the Radio Star', had never heard of 'Lenny'!
This is craftsmanship in producing Nobody values the brilliance of a fantastic sound anymore. Adventures in modern recording stand’s to me as the pinnacle of perfection when it comes to grand and perfect sound “Lenny” is fantastic But never figured out why its called "Lenny"...?!
Well, that's the weird thing -- It would make sense for the name "Lenny" to be used to refer to Leonardo Da Vinci, but the events described in the song sound more like things that happened to Copernicus.
First a philosopher “Aristarchus” then a “astronomer “Galileo”..but “he was walking on glass”.... the Catholic Church arrested him for claiming that the earth orbit the sun.. could have cost him his life.
They really don't make this anymore, if you have a copy your lucky. The closet cd you can get for this would be Yes Drama that has Trevor and Gregory playing on it and they even do 'Into The Lens's that is I Am A Camera on Adventures in Modern Recording. Age of Plastic is still available.
'Lenny' (Buggles) - 'Gypsy' (Fleedwood Mac) - 'Blackbird' (Alter Bridge) have the higher and higher tone in common in their song, what is this phenomenon called?!
It is a tad slower than the other version on UA-cam. I don't have a knob for adjusting the speed so if it is too slow, my turntable is not working properly. As I don't have the cd version, I can't compare.

Wow. Haven't heart this for more than 30 years. What a song!!!!
Why is the 80s so fucking good?
Becuste it's the best!
I love Trevor Horn's voice - it's really warm and nuanced
This album has all but disappeared from the internet, I'm missing some of my favourite songs ever. Glad I found it here
Love it! Something calmly atmospheric with Trevor Horn at his peak
One of my favorite songs of all-time - so original and melodic!
Why is it not on Spotify??? :(
I have this single. A real GEM. Love the eighties. Greetings from Belgium. Dirk.
Dat waren nog eens tijden!!!! De jaren tachtig hadden ALLES,nu..........ehhhh ach laat maar.groeten uit Nederland.

Ja! De single heb ik ook! Geweldig nummer!
@@dirklyssens8936 echt heh, ik ben ook van '65, en het lijkt er inderdaad op dat ik steeds meer hang naar de 80ties ... lekker toch!
@@Jinta13 zeker lekker en leuk.
I believe that The Buggles's songs predicted the future.
Yes they did
hiddem gem, i absolutely love this song

This song still rocks after all this time 🙂
Love Vermillion sands and I AM A CAMERA
As a rock and roll listener in my youth and to this day, this album is still one of my favorites. So innovative, creative and beautiful all at once.
Omg i was looking for this song for so so long!

“Lenny” is fantastic
But never figured out why its called "Lenny"...?!
Lenny BRUCE was a stand-up comedian.
@@michelelaraia7358
Wait what..??!! This song is about science and not about a comedian.
@@kimparking1 oh yeah?
I heard it's about Leonardo da Vinci. Would make sence.
Still love this little gem of a song. Strange it is nowhere to be found on any of the major streaming services..
Yup :/
Brilliant song a real evergreen
39 years old. Sounds like yesterday. Top.
What a great song!
Bought this single new on a market in Paris during a schooltrip: still love it.
I still also have this single in my collection. Still sounds great. Greetings from Belgium. Dirk.
Adventures in modern recording! Thanks for posting this! Analog gear from another time! So good!
2:20 - Proof that Trevor Horn can sound like Jon Anderson.
Totes! 😀👍
Not. Trevor barely hits that high note and sounds constricted doing it; Jon would have had no trouble hitting it at all.
Someone on another upload of this has pointed out that it's about Leonardo Da Vinci. I wouldn't have thought of that myself!
Well, that's the weird thing -- It would make sense for the name "Lenny" to be used to refer to Leonardo Da Vinci, but the events described in the song sound more like things that happened to Copernicus.
Adds another layer of beauty to the song for me.
'He could see that the earth was a mover
And the sun was a mother...'

Super! ❤
Great song ! I hope there will be a remastered version soon
Thanks for that. The good news is: I like the song in all versions :)
I love what you might call the "conveyor belt" rhythm at the end of the song. I mean the bit that starts at 2 mins 53 secs.
TOTAL AWESOMENESS....for EVER!!. XOXO
the late 80s had such brilliant music
Early 80s. This is from 1981.
@@ajs41 tells you how ahead of its time this is, it came out in 1981 but it sounds like a mid-late 80s song
masterpiece
i love that song specially the last part of the song 3:00 to the end
our daughters name is Lennie [ Netherlands}
Whish to have the lyrics. Into my soul *****
My son is named Lenny ❤️
@rkt739 Thanks! It appears my turntable is a little bit too slow, so this upload is not 100 % correct.
The version on the CD re-release runs 3:14. Hope that helps! ;)
80s....after that my life was over
One of a kind

Nice piece of Cowbell in the first part! He maximised it for hit portential!
Right, I've done some research and it seems the correct version is 3:12, and this is 3:20, and mine was 3:07! Oh bother.
Eighties were the best.........yes i know we're getting old..........😇
Tell me about it 😉
What is this song about?
Nice, they took it off Spotify.....
Ah, strangely, I just found out that my turntable has been running too fast! Maybe we will never know......
It's not about Leonardo da Vinci. It's about Galileus Galilei.
Exactly, and because of that the song title is "Lenny" ;)
Lennyda Vinci (also) said the sun does not move@@LoxTheEye
There is a nice song about Galileo. Google it. This one 😅s about Leonardo.
@@HT-ym6re I know, my other comment was meant to be sarcastic.
I think its rather about Galileo who was an astronom
