Genuinely one of my favorite songs of all time, and arguably one of the best songs ever written. Nothing beats the genius of Trevor Horn. Much love ❤🎵🙌
The older I got the more I loved this track.. the dreamy sound.. the jazz and the synthesizer sound creating an atmosphere where you are taken to a completely different time
I was 12 years old and with my parents' tip I bought Video Killed The.. for 2000 Lire, I liked it so much that I collected 8000 Lire and also bought Age of Plastic. I never regretted it.
I know it took a lot longer to appear but the eventual follow-up album was, I think, pretty close to what it would have been in 81/82. Fly From Here and Riding Tide (Riding a Tiger) were already written although "Fly..." would have probably remained as parts 1 and 2 only rather than the 5 part epic it became with Yes and I think Vermillion Sands would have been a great contender for that album, probably expanded to 10 minutes or so along with Walking on Glass (Lenny) which has a lot of Yes vibes as does Blue Nylon/On TV and I would have loved to hear a Yes version of Johnny on the Monorail's alternative mix which could have been beefed up into a Machine Messiah style epic.
@@billstorie5161Madman at the Screens (FFH Part III) actually did have a demo recorded around this time, but it has yet to be released for some reason.
Oh yes, that's right - I recall it turned up on the contents of a really obscure compilation years ago but it's long out or print and I never managed to find a copy so never actually heard the demo. Was it actually called Madman... or did it have a different/alternative title back then?@@HEHEHE_I_AM_A_MASKED_WARRIA
@@billstorie5161 This is midnight motorway music - driving fast at night . Played it for my son some years ago on a long night time drive and he still talks about it. Classic Horn/Downes/80s pop
Now mistaken for the Plastic age (amazing) or some president's club. Too bad for the people that never heard what the musicians they now listen to used to play.

Horn and Downes - Still making great music in 2022
This is from 1981. The Buggles haven't recorded since then. Geoff later founded Asia

Only not together.. wonder why.
Genius. A second Yes album with the Drama line up in 81/82 would have been intriguing

Electric piano is so hypnotic
Geoff Downes on piano.
Why isn't this album on their Spotify? I thought they only did one album.
The perfect sonic articulation of Ballard's work.
Smooooth

This, not VKTRStar, is the best Buggles song.
oh my
so bizarre
From 4:23 to 5:11 (eerie organ & car crash) are we hearing a sample from Carnival of Souls?
