      It was an ok movie, I only wished the characters were more fleshed out. Beautiful cinematography for sure, amazing score as well. The fighting and choreography was a bit dated and stale I have to say, for example the "berserker" scene where the village was raided had a lot of non-organic choreography, basically enemies were waiting to be attacked by the main character, essentially standing in place waiting for a blow. It didn't take away from the movie but it was definitely noticeable. Good movie though.

    As a personal trainer myself I’m always extremely impressed by Magnus and his ability to adapt to his clients needs. He doesn’t simply regurgitate bodybuilder splits that have been around since the 80s like a lot of modern trainers you see. I love he always puts the clients physical well being and them staying injury free above simply chasing a certain aesthetic. Training to look like a warrior and training to perform/act like a warrior for months at a time are two very different things and I very much appreciate Magnus and his ability to differentiate between those two scenarios. Alexander both looked and performed amazingly in this movie well done guys. Shoutout to Belfast! Especially with these workouts. Great exercises for building real strength all round the body, but these exercises are not mass-gainers. If Skarsgard did these, then he was juicing way more than I had expected. I can only assume some standard heavy compound lifts formed the basis of his routine.

However, do not ever fall into the trap of "I'll eat and train like X = i'll look like X". It is almost always not the case, because each and every one of us is different. Used to live in NYC, and while working in BBC Productions in BBC Worldwide, a friend of mine went to Marvel Studios just as Marvel were really ramping it up. She said three things - 1) some actors use steriods, 2) a lot of the action shots include best lighting angles and 3) if that didn't work, in post production they would work on some aspects of the actors body if they could make it work (like highlighting/shadows/ etc).
    Now I saw Northman, and I remember Alex from HBO Generation Kill - the guy was always in good shape and his body is not too crazy for someone who is in good shape, trained hard and looked after himself. Some of the Hollywood folks are definitely juicing

It’s a big improvement for sure, but there’s a sentiment nowadays that EVERYONE who’s lean with some muscle is juicing. The only reason I’d assume this guy did was because of the time frame required for a part in a movie.

      come to islam, and stop being utilitarian liberals or whatever the moral system or ideology you have. Islam is the only metaphysical and moral system that doesn't generate contradictions. Learn more through sheikh like othman ibn faroq or mohammed hijab or free books (Divine reality and the mirage of atheism, the Burhan, etc) ... and hopefully you guys will understand that this life is made temporary and ment to follow our desires, but to worship the necessary existence, self-sufficient, etc, who created us (through evolution or whatever the theory). There is only one god (Allah). He is not a contingent existence. He is unique and has no partners. He descended revelations to prophets such as Moses, Abraham, Jesus, and finally Mohammed peace be upon them all. Islam structures your life so your din, intellect, family and property is protected. It makes sense and its a way of life that will make you happier as a consequence. Paradise is for ever, this life is temporary, don't be blind. Its just a reminder for those who reflect.

God has to be omniscient, self-sufficient, and be independant. Catholics and protestants believe god is jesus, which is a big contradiction, so the principle of identity is not respected, done. You cant have someone who don't now be omniscient. a human has a biginning and an end. Jesus prostrated to god. he cant be god, his nature is limited. You cant be unlimitted and limitted at the same time unless you're schizophrenic. Judaism in the story of the oven of akhnai, rabis debated god and god has apologised for his mistake... So their god is Not omniscient, another contradiction... Hindus are polytheists, so how can you have a gods that are limited and not limited at the same time, same contradiction with chriastianism... How can you worship a cow or animals or whatver contingent existence it is. Atheist are materialist, so they believe matter is god, but matter does not have will to create and its not independant, its a contengent existence, so contradictory to the definition of god. Only islam is clear about its monotheistic belief. And only belief that respects the fundamental principles of logic. So, NO, not every religion are the same, islam is above all religions.

    Magmus, I played (multiple) sports most of my life (HS varsity and college, etc ...), Powerlift (until life got screwed up the last few yrs, had 40inch quads, etc... and training to break a bench press record (max bench was 425lbs, before the aforementioned)) and more. So of course I realize not everyone powerlifts (or honestly is "cut out" for it). With that said, I didn't like your lifting suggestions, they're two light and not enough sets and you didn't mention "negatives" which greatly enhance size and more importantly Strength. Though for the "average person" and "newbie", it was ok and appropriate to start out with. And, I do highly appreciate the need for agility training and the abilities of agility & range of motion - these techniques you showed I did like and suggest others to listen to you on them. And Remember y'all, Form IS Everything! If you want to gain max results, size, strength, agility and Avoid Injuries - Form is Everything!! ... If its too heavy for you to workout with (including "maxing out") while keeping good form; then do Not Force it - work up to it!!

    Does performing farmer's walks at the start of the set not compromise grip strength on the following exercises (potentially failing on grip before properly exhausting back and bicep muscles), or was the aim to increase forearm strength/size? Also, if this is Alex's genuine back day and the aim (as per the reduced cardio) was size, shouldn't there be more heavy compounds? Not criticising, just surprised and genuinely interested.

    • @alexemmett5787
      @alexemmett5787 2 роки тому +2

      Farmers walks seemed to be the main heavy compound movement. The exercise works your entire back, arms and shoulders isometrically in the same manner as a deadlift would.

    • @johnnyrocket1685
      @johnnyrocket1685 2 роки тому

      Not that it may necessarily work, not for everyone at least, but the general idea behind the concept is that you’re doing farmer’s walls at the beginner with as much weight as you can manage so that you burn your arms out before anything else.
      .
      The belief is that your muscles build back harder and bigger if they’re already exhausted when your main exercise begins. You’re adding far more stress, and therefore Micro-Tears in your muscles, by burning them out first and then doing your exercises, than if you just did the exercises.
      .
      Like I said though, it’s certainly not a scientifically established concept, and it widely differs from person to person. One person may do it every day and see insane results within 3 months.
      Another person might do this and end up in the hospital.
