      It was an ok movie, I only wished the characters were more fleshed out. Beautiful cinematography for sure, amazing score as well. The fighting and choreography was a bit dated and stale I have to say, for example the "berserker" scene where the village was raided had a lot of non-organic choreography, basically enemies were waiting to be attacked by the main character, essentially standing in place waiting for a blow. It didn't take away from the movie but it was definitely noticeable. Good movie though.

    As a personal trainer myself I’m always extremely impressed by Magnus and his ability to adapt to his clients needs. He doesn’t simply regurgitate bodybuilder splits that have been around since the 80s like a lot of modern trainers you see. I love he always puts the clients physical well being and them staying injury free above simply chasing a certain aesthetic. Training to look like a warrior and training to perform/act like a warrior for months at a time are two very different things and I very much appreciate Magnus and his ability to differentiate between those two scenarios. Alexander both looked and performed amazingly in this movie well done guys. Shoutout to Belfast! I’m northern Irish myself seeing amazing projects like the Northman being filmed here makes me very proud of our film industry.

    Used to live in NYC, and while working in BBC Productions in BBC Worldwide, a friend of mine went to Marvel Studios just as Marvel were really ramping it up. She said three things - 1) some actors use steriods, 2) a lot of the action shots include best lighting angles and 3) if that didn't work, in post production they would work on some aspects of the actors body if they could make it work (like highlighting/shadows/ etc).
    Now I saw Northman, and I remember Alex from HBO Generation Kill - the guy was always in good shape and his body is not too crazy for someone who is in good shape, trained hard and looked after himself. Some of the Hollywood folks are definitely juicing

    • @jizzlemack9927
      @jizzlemack9927 2 роки тому +60

      Most are juicing. He was probably juicing. It’s kinda necessary for extreme transformations in short time frames, so it’s not a criticism, just part of the process.

      You’re definitely right- but let’s not forget that stuff isn’t some miracle drug that’ll turn a lazy slob into a stud, it’ll just make the results from the work come faster.

    • @jizzlemack9927
      @jizzlemack9927 2 роки тому +12

      @berzerkr blitz Absolutely. I know from person experience, I’ve done it natural and I’ve done it juiced to the gills, and the difference isn’t as huge as a lot of people seem to believe. It’s a big improvement for sure, but there’s a sentiment nowadays that EVERYONE who’s lean with some muscle is juicing. The only reason I’d assume this guy did was because of the time frame required for a part in a movie.

    I have only two criticisms of the film:
    1. The draugr fight shouldn't have been played off as fake, since none of the other mystical elements were in such a blatant way.
    2. Although we don't know much about Slavic religions, we know enough to have made Olga's character more authentic (e.g. invoking Morana, Veles, Stribog etc instead of "the earth" or "the north wind").
    Other than that it was really great.

    Mr. Skarsgard once said that at one point, he was sick of the bland food. Do you have a video of when you allowed him to chow out?

    My son is the adult iteration of 'Sweet Tooth'. He is a Norwegian/American/Kiwi. His mother has New Zealand residency rights. He looks, sounds and has gestures just like Christian Convery. He often freaks out his friends by keeping his hands in his pockets and doing a forward roll from a standing position and landing on his feet. He's been just over 6 foot since he was 15. If he wants to get a job as an extra in either Northern Europe or New Zealand, where would he start?

    The scapular and arm movement of a pulldown should be blended, not segmented/performed separately.
