This is kind of random: 20 years ago (I was 14) Birger Caspersen was my neighbor. He heard I wanted to start lifting weights so he built a bench/squat rack out of wood in the bunker in the apartment complex were I lived. I never really knew who he was, I just recognized him on the picture in this video. What a legend!
The rack is still standing :D

Apparently age caught on to Odd Haugen finally.
To those how think this is sad, remember that when his prodegy Martins got world strongest man, he was already 69 years of age. And back than he was still actively taking part in Martins training.
He deserves his retirement. He has nothing left to proof. All that he needs to do now is to tell his starries as he remembers them at the pace adequate for his age to every person intelligent enough to listen to the tales of an old legend who about has seen it all or at least more than enough of it.
Great of Martins to visit the man who made I'm and get him on his channel once more.
Although it is kind of sad to imaging that it might be the last time, I'd be glad to have as much of my energy left in my late 60s as he had and to be as fondly remembered by the people I cared for as he is now and will be even beyond his death although may he live another happy 40 years. It feels kind of nice to imagine him being 110 years old telling his caretaker how to use his strength more efficiently when pushing his wheelchair.

7:08 The ships mast *(Ormrinn Langi)* is 10 ft long and 650 kg (1,433 lb) heavy. Hafthor did 5 steps, not 3. Orm Storolfsson did 3 steps 1,000 years ago, but broke his back and was never the same.

In Japan there's Chikairishi (power stones I think it translates as). Quite a few temple still have them and apparently there's a championship with them in Soja where they sort of attach one to a bar of some sort by straps and whoever holds it up the longest wins. If nothing else it would be worth visiting some of the lifting stones in Japan as each one of them always seems to have a really interesting history

How do you track improvement and progress when you can’t really track the weight or shape of stones?
In the gym, I have my phone to track my snatch form, the barbell is always the same shape, and I could always add plates for a PR.
Looks hella fun to lift in nature though. The closest I get is in front of the garage door.

If you have your own stone you can do stone to shoulder for reps or carries for distance or speed. All of this can be timed and tracked. If you just train with random stone think of it as an accessory move. Just have fun training them in different ways and don't worry about it, but watch your gym lifts go up from the added overall strength your getting😁
