Well done Bud!! Plastic parts to the rescue, who would have thought eh!! You shouldn't have any problem unloading it, they used them things in everything heavy duty!!☺
Thanks RK. I think I will paint it. I am not in a rush. Blue (darkish) for the block with accent of grey for the air cleaner cover, front screen and lettering.
I realize I am kinda randomly asking but do anyone know of a good place to stream newly released movies online ?
@Hudson Khalid I would suggest Flixzone. Just google for it :)
@Keegan Karsyn Yea, I've been watching on FlixZone for since march myself =)
@Keegan Karsyn thanks, signed up and it seems to work =) Appreciate it!
Such a good running old K series. Cheers my Good Friend! Sean~
I am sending an email right now.
Love when old dinosaurs are resurrected
Me too.
Superb job,Bruce, love the fut fut fut,and the last gasps ,keep safe, keep well
Thanks Martin
Thanks again for taking the time and effort to do These videos. I’ve learned so much from you over the years. I hope u live to be 150 plus and u don’t ever quit making videos. Lol I enjoy and appreciate everyone u do Thanks so much
Thanks William. I am learning everyday.
Just returned and sold a modern day Kohler / Toro to working condition. Next up a road find Toro FWD with 5hp Suzuki and a mykumi (?) carb. bowl full of burned tapioca. Thanks for all your advise, tips and help. Narragansett Bay.
Have fun with the job. Jeb
That engine sounds so happy now! Congratulations on your success with it, and thanks for the videos.
Thanks again sir !!!
Bruce you have to keep that little power house . You have a lot of time and a lot of fun doing it wright . Good job .
Thanks Nick
Wow, runs like a dream, 10hp classic Kohler, awesome series Bruce, you can be proud of that.
I think paint is coming. Blue for the block and grey for the accents.
@@BrucesShop I was hoping you were going to do that.... And excellent choice in colors.
We L ike them good old engines ..You are getting a nice collection of Crescent Wrenches hanging on the wall
I sure am. Good to hear from you Jim. I use them more for bending metal that for bolts.
That was a great series. I hope it gets the perfect home and runs for years to come.
Me too. I want to paint it now. I am not sure.
I have never seen a clamp system like the before but with plastic it has to be good. Smoothest running Kohler in the country.
I have yo agree thanks Steve
I bought 2 of the plastic pumps from Amazon last summer. They both died with less than 4 hours use. I did not put the oil in the pump. I'll try it next time. Good Luck, Rick
Yes I heard the have a high return rate. Thanks for heads up.
@@BrucesShop Another youtuber said that often the valves stick in the original pumps and you just have to take them apart, free up the valves, and use Marvel Mystery Oil in the gas. I'm going to try that with 4 old pumps that I have. Good Luck, Rick
That fuel pump seems to work great. Good job on finding it. The older engines always surprise me how low of an rpm they will idle compared to newer engines. It seems to run really well with that fuel pump. Keep up the great work buddy. Have a great weekend!
Thanks again. How are you doing?
@@BrucesShop I'M doing good Still tight and sore from all the Lymph Nodes they removed I am starting Physical Therapy April 1st so that should help. Thanks for asking.
I bolted a 12volt winch to my shop ceiling for hoisting stuff up. I almost bought a 120volt hoist from PA that was on sale a month or two back.
Yes I saw that.. When that happens I ask myself. Do I need it. I use the (old reliable) hoist 3 or 4 times a year. BUT I WANTED IT LOL!!!!
Not to slow on the idle, its a splash lube system. the last gasp is the compression release holding the valve open. The K series was a favorite on the Gravely tractors, the blocks were a special design for the engine adaptor plate as well as the crankshaft.
Thanks Ed. As i was doing it. I mentioned that, and you could here when i slowed the video down that there was some clunking going on. Thanks again. I means a lot to me.
Great video! I think the secret to the smooth idle on these old beasts is the huge flywheel. They seem to be heavier than the comparable HP Tecumseh and Briggs engines.
You are right. Even with the plug out it is heavy to turn over.
Sure is a sweet runner - cool series Bruce. Thanks
I think the old Kohler is getting a paint job
@@BrucesShop Not sure I have seen you do paint jobs before :-)
That runs great and sounds fab, nice job Bruce
Thanks a lot.
Great video series of this kohler coming back
Thanks Mr. Wrenches.
How's she goin'? This was an interesting project!!! The little Briggs & Stratton I'm rebuilding is sort of like this project. You said you have learned a lot about the engine and the same for me on the B & S!!! You got this Kohler running like a swiss watch!!! Take care!!!
Thanks a lot.
Would make a good go kart engine. Good job Bruce.
It is pretty heavy.
Good video Bruce, you are a wealth if knowledge.
Well I have to be more modest. i just work on what is in front of me.
Good fix there ol buddy, and once again your having way too much fun on this project.. That bench is just to clean..lol..
Right. The bench is the holy grail for me LOL.
Replaced same style pump on my M18 nice job
Thank you
Very nice repair, engine sounds mint way to go younger OLD MAN
Yes at my age I have have the luxury of working on anything I want. I would rather tinker on something for 4 days than buy a 50 dollar part.
Hi Bruce. I hope you give her some paint. It sounded like you were going to sell it which makes sense because you probably wouldn't have much use for it. Whoever gets it is getting a sweet engine for sure
Someone with an old iron yard tractor.
Bruce, good little project. Like seeing old iron run again! I like your chain fall set up. Did you use a barn door track and roller on the ceiling? Rick
No it it was some surplus aluminium Duct
Great video Bruce I love those old engines can you do a video on how you wired it up I have a Kohler k321 on the bench not getting any Spark thanks
I will see if i can fit it in. Before the paint video.
runs great sir great job be safe and have a great weekend bruce
Well I just got my shot yesterday.
@@BrucesShop great news we cant loose are small engine repair master mechanic bruce i still got alot to learn from you sir ! hope your weather is getting better to here its nice outside today
excellent project Bruce, take care eh!
Thanks for the great comment. I am taking care BTW.
Try using green scotch-brite pads instead of steel wool they work great to clean or polish metal surfaces
Great idea. I have a bunch I got from an auto body guy.
Can you please include part number and where you got it from in your description? Ebay? I got K321 that might need one eventually, I'm sure the OEM one can be had for an arm and a small toe. Thanks!
Sorry about that. Here it is and I will put it into the comments. Thanks for the help This is a Canadian Amazon site but the numbers are there for you.

@@BrucesShop Thank you, that helps. I got a 1986 WH and I'm sure the fuel pump needs replacement soon. Don't like switching to low flow electric, keep it stock.
@@DC_PRL Well this pump is as stock as I could afford.
Good morning!
Good morning Thanks for watching Paul.
Greetings Bruce , question for you, on my stx 38 Hydro mower no start hearing a clicking sound coming from the clutch can you help me ? Thanks Love your channel .
If the clicking sound is when you turn the key it is most likely the stater solenoid. If the engine won't turn over it isn't the clutch. That drives the belt for the mower deck. You need to look at why the mower won't physicality start. The solenoid runs the starter. If you short out the 2 big posts on the solenoid the engine should turn over. See in the picture below.
Here is the solenoid on amazon
www.amazon.com/CALTRIC-Starter-Solenoid-compatible-Tractor/dp/B07L6MCNRW
OK Thanks Bruce , Does it matter that the click sound is coming from the PTO clutch and not the solenoid ?
@@stevekwall925 If your problem is the mower won't start The clutch can be unplugged. You may have more wrong too. just go slow.
Another nice video. Do u have any stickers?? Bruce’s Shop
I hope to have some soon.
Make it into a portable jump station, normally u add a alternator to the engine but yours already has output so modify some jumper cables and..👍👍
The only issue for a using the onboard battery charger is it is limited to just under 10 amps. (Stator and diode block) But this idea may create another,--- already going on in my mind. Thanks again. Great idea.
That’s slick!
Thanks Jim. Good to hear from you.
I could say a lot about what I find negative about this series but I will just say interesting Bruce.
OK?
now he has time to rebuild the OEM one.
No it was so corroded I had to through it out.
Good enough.
Well the is now Paint. LOL
805ROADKING would do some body work and paint it.
It is in the works. As well a s a better piece of wood or plate.
This one screwed up design I completely destroyed one because no instructions came with it I don't ever want another Kohler Kawasaki is the best engine by far you will never see a rider at Lowe's with one on it either
ok
