Good evening Ian. Wow, this was a great piece of wonderful music. You must have a great music memory to remember all this. Sounded amazing👏👏👌💯🎵🎶🎸. Very pleasant listening and a big 👍16. Kave pleasant week and take care my friend. All the best Olav
Evening Olav, I can’t read music and I choose not to follow tabs…… but ….. if I can hear the words of a song or the notes of an instrumental a couple of times then I would gamble heavily on the fact that I could play it all from start to finish, note for note……….. I think it’s called having an ear. I also chop things into sections in my head……. Like learn intro, learn verse one, verse two is exactly the same or verse two changes an octave, chorus is played twice with verse one played again in between then end section with probably a solo somewhere in between. ( I have been known to write all of this down, but not very often. ) I think most guitarists have some method similar to this. How do you play ? Best wishes from the Guitar Sanctuary..............♥️ Ian 🎸
Thank you for taking the time to comment……….. it’s always appreciated. To receive a response is always a nice gesture……………. ( My English teacher always taught me never to use the word ‘ Nice ‘….. I’m just rebelling ) Best wishes from the Guitar Sanctuary..............♥️ Ian 🎸

Al❤️🎸🎸
Hi Alan, thank you for your response to my arrangement of ‘ The Living Years ‘ which has very sad memories for me as it came out on 27 December 1988 and my dad died on my birthday which was 26th Dec 1988. It has taken this long to be able to sit down and play it. I’m pleased you enjoyed my arrangement which was very much to my liking…….. I will be watching the Arsenal v United game tonight and although it doesn’t happen very often………. I’ll be shouting for Arsenal ⚽️👍⚽️
Hi Ian, hearing it the first time and felt the beautiful vibes. It sounds great as an instrumental. The top class playing on the the Burns Dream and its tone together with BT makes for a very listen. " The Living Years " the long play justifies the title absolutely. Enjoyed my listen very much. Guess the festival approaching every day must be a busy day. Wish you'll the very best this season, take care and i look up to the weekend jaunt. Bye for the moment.
Morning Krishna, ii thank you for your response to my arrangement of ‘ The Living Years ‘ a title that means a great deal to me…………. It’s taken over thirty years to summon up the desire to sit and play this song as it has personal feelings for me. This song was released on December 27th 1988 the day after my father died, ( Dec 26th - Boxing Day and my 40th Birthday ) the lyrics of the song are unbelievably true in oh so many ways…….. it was as if this song was written especially for me……. so much so ………. I’ve never played t until now. A beautiful song which I love dearly. Thank you for your comments…….. they are always appreciated. Best wishes from the Guitar Sanctuary..............♥️ Ian 🎸
A wonderful piece of music and beautifully played as usual, dear Ian. Sounds fantastic on that "Dream" guitar!. So soothing and calming to listen to - really enjoyed it. All the best, Ludwig

I particularly like this title Ianfor your excellent interpretation, the choice of sound and this superb Burns Dream ( I've said it before but this guitar is so beautiful) Denis
Hi Ian - Wow that's a long song ! 6 min and I watched it all the way through. I've always liked this song and I saw Mike & his Mechanic play it live many years ago. Makes a super instrumental and was a good idea having the lyrics syncd to the sound as It's a very sad song. Sounded very good on your Burns Dream guitar and you played it equally well.. All the best Phil
Evening Phil, thanks for your good comments, it certainly was a lengthy piece……… One I have not been able to do for a number of reasons for a long, long while, I finally sat down and got down to playing it yesterday for the first time since I lost my Dad on my birthday, Boxing Day 1988, this was released the next day on the 27th December 1988……… As you say …… a very sad song with meaningful words. Thanks again for your comments…… ❤️🎸♥️ Ian
Oh boy that was good Ian , a big favourite of mine ,loved the sound from the Burns ,it suited this one so well , you've done a super arrangement , I don't know how you remembered it all at 6 mins long . The BT from KV was very good too, sounded very much like the original . A big like 9👍👍. Noticed on all Burns guitars Ian, the 1st fret is very near the nut , why is that , is there a reason? All the very best Dave.🎸🎸👏👏🎵🎵❤❤😊😊
Hi Dave, this one has a special place in my music catalogue as it was released on 27th Dec 1988 the day after my father past away, it was Boxing Day ( My 40th Birthday ) I’ve never played it until now………… this was one I’ve purposely held back on. Thanks for your comments and kind words, I don’t know why the nut is positioned as it is on the Burns…….. just the style of the head and neck I think. No special reason as I see it. Yes, a big six minute’s of very special words ………. ( I never made to his bedside either as I had spent all night with him and had left to come home for some sleep ) unbelievable lyrics ……… Best wishes from the Guitar Sanctuary..............♥️ Ian 🎸
@@ianwilsonguitarist3079 Hi Ian , yes I read the other replies , about your father , and this song tells the whole storey ,withs its beautiful, but sad lyrics. I was only 34 when dad died he was only 64 in 1992, he taught me all about carpentry , he himself served his time as a wheelwright and had other jobs throughout his life . I went on to work in the building trade , as a bench joiner ,and wood machinist, I retired in January, I still have all his tools, plus my own . He also played piano accordion , and the organ, probably that's where it all started for me playing , so lots of memories. Thanks Ian ,take care Dave.
Great performance, sound so beautiful, thanks for sharing👍👍
I’m always grateful for your comments, enjoy your week and best wishes from the Guitar Sanctuary ………….❤️ Ian 🎸
