  • This video will be part one of a two part video series on the production of micro or miniature wood segmented discs. In this part one of this video series I will describe the slicing of the miniature wood segments or wedges on the band saw, sanding and assembling the miniature wedges into segmented rings and getting them ready for glue up. In part two on this video series I will be describing the glue up of the segmented rings, cleaning and sanding the glued up rings and producing a few miniature segmented ring projects.
This Video will describe the design and production of miniature or micro wood segmented discs. These segmented discs or rings vary from 1” in diameter down to 1/2” in diameter. And the number or segments or wedges in each disc ranges from 12 to 24 segments per disc.
These segments or wedges were sliced on the band saw using the Accu-Wedge and Accu-Slice systems. The segments were sliced from ¼”, 3/8” and ½” thick boards that were 1 to 1.5” tall and 12 to 18” long. These small segments were sliced with pointed ends that when they are assembled into a segmented disc there is little or no gap in the center of the disc.

Great product John, I love my Accu-Slice, I have cut material as thin as .020 with great accuracy, I look forward to purchasing the Accu-wedge system to cut segments for ornaments , typically these are 3" spheres, I don't think it will be a problem cutting the 3/4" thick, 3" tall stock to get the segments needed.
I'm greatly impressed with the accuracy of your product and just as impressed with the items you create and share in these videos. Thanks for sharing !
