Just recently found your channel and watched the first two episodes in the series. I have been wondering, when the video about the Brotherhood would come out. Nice work! Thanks for keeping people's interest in the Gothic series alive

Thanks mate! Gothic is going strong even now, twenty years later. Great community and great mods. Check out Chronicles of Myrtana: Archolos. I have a blast playing this mod, just superb!

While I liked the lakeside part of the New Camp I always felt that the Swamp Camp always felt like home. Albeit a rainy mazelike home at times but home nonetheless. I liked the architecture and the second story tree dwellings. I only wished I could get the chance to be a guru and not just a templar. I did try some of the mods that included the chance to be a guru but as they went to the second to last circle of magic it always felt sort of weak. Not sure how I'd improve on it though.

Swamp Camp forever. I love the atmosphere, especially in the early evening hours when the ore torches shine ever so blue and that haze gets illuminated.
I'm almost certain that they do something about the Guru-situation. They need to fix that. They say they want to be true to the original but leaving that one out would be a huge, massive even, mistake on their part.
The game was unfinished, make it whole please!

Thanks mate but there was still some info I didn't cover but 20 minutes should be enough for now.
Hit me up if you have any ideas, maybe there is something I'm already working on.

@@vertigo7082 Hm, what about a video on the ancient civilization from Jharkendar? They're presumably the same as the one from the deserts of Varant (the big city there has the same guilds in it).
Could be interesting to dig up as much as you can find :)

While I like and support the idea of Jharkendar people being the owners of the swamp ruins - they too may tried to get magical ore - Ialso have to other speculations about it:
First, it may belong to a civilisation which war with Jharkeder, the one from which Quarhodron gained Claw of Beliar. Would tied nicely with connetion to Sleeper.
Second, it may be separated part of Sleeper Temple - since it was build thousand years ago, some parts may have collapsed and cut off sections of the temple. Maybe even that area was underground thousand years ago, being corroded to it's current marshland over years by river.

I hope that the Brotherhood's magic gets further distinguished from the magic of the magi. Perhaps they don't require runes at all, but on the flipside never learn to use the runes of the magi either? Perhaps they can increase their maximum mana daily by smoking more and more swampweed instead of getting a bonus just from the first joint? What happens during those weed induced trances that grant this benefit? The weed smoking could become an entire aspect of Brotherhood gameplay. Perhaps learning the spells of the sleeper require both a teacher and a deep weed induced trance, so that when learning spells you need to also smoke copious amounts of swampweed with the Guru teaching you? All this would strengthen the identity of the swamp camp and fortify the player's connection to it.
I'd also like to have some sort of code of conduct passed down by the sleeper as its teachings alongside magic, details on how to properly pray, how to properly prepare sacrifices, how to properly meditate while smoking weed etc etc. The magi could also use a lot more flesh in this regard; they are priests first and foremost after all, and I'd really like to see more fleshed out religious elements around the worship of both Innos and Adanos. It also stands to reason that both Gods would bestow some moral rules upon their followers. The Sleeper could also bestow moral rules, just with some subtle elements of wickedness; looking good on the surface, but giving you that uneasy feeling of 'something is wrong but I can't quite put my finger on it'.

I really hope they expand on the economic everyday aspects of each camp. How do the swamp camp people obtain food? What sort of experiments are the magicians of water conducting with the ore and where do they get their reagents and other supplies needed for their work? Who creates the parchment needed for all those scrolls? How are the goods that are traded from the other camps transported into the swamp? Does the brotherhood grow some food themselves? Where do they get drinkable water and how do they obtain and store it?
There's just a ton of flesh that can be added to the game world by figuring out the specifics of the economy, not to mention potential problems that lead to amazing side quests. They already scratched the surface with the questline for protecting the Brotherhood's weed monopoly; this makes sense since the brotherhood is so completely dependent on the weed trade that the new camp weed producers are an existential economic threat to the entire camp.

The most common title among the Gurus, Baal, is a word of semitic origins (Ba'al) that means "lord". The biblical demon "Beelzebub" comes from "Ba'al Zebub", the lord of flies. It's funny to see that title on brothers wearing the simple robes of a novice in the old and new camps. I think they could reintroduce some sense and consistency into the Brotherhood titles in the remake.

I'd REALLY like to see the nameless hero get his hair cut and some tattoos added to his skin when joining the Swamp Camp, and truly become a member of the brotherhood in appearance.

nah... y'berion was probably alchemist or something like that and found the weed. after he found the weed he heard the call... i mean much more interesting that way. also sleeper used that magic but sleeper was never the source of it

no no no... ruins are not important only weed in swamp is important so there is no need for builders of the ruins to be worshipers of the sleeper

    • @vertigo7082
      @vertigo7082  5 місяців тому

The ruins and overall area were way more important in the early versions of the game. I think it wouldn't do the whole thing justice to say that only the weed is important.
Besides, the temple in the swamp was originally built by orcs and the swamp was meant to have a deep connection to lost souls and shamans went there to communicate with the. There is some great material on that made by Alpha Researcher. ua-cam.com/video/LKaxvfD1p30/v-deo.htmlsi=M-h8JJ0aXPW1Omu3
