- In this video I review a 2008 Infiniti QX56 which is a fullsize luxury SUV first introduced in 2004 with the 1st generation model running through 2010. Renamed the QX80 during its 2nd generation, the QX56 is sibling to the Nissan Armada and based on the same platform as the Nissan Titan.

I owned a 2004 QX56 and made many long distance trips yearly with it. The seats were the most comfortable I have sat in of all the vehicles I have owned. All of the control button and switches were easy to reach when driving. Driving position and handling where very good. It had high miles but never any costly repairs. Overall I rate it a better driver than my current 08 Sequoia.
Great video, great presentation and information and most of all, great camera work!
Solid review of one of my favorite trucks. I actually like this over the new QX80. It's just a better looking truck in my opinion. Buying used, this and same generation Armada are about the same price. So it's really to each their own. But I'd still take the QX56 over the Armada just because.
I have both my 05 qx56 just won't quite die. Has many issues, but 2.5 years ago I stopped fixing it. It's still going and my daily driver. Solid vehicle. Many big fixes over the years, and many quirky issues, but solid vehicle. 355,000 ish kms, and it's the vehicle that will start in -30°. Unless my screen is acting up and drawing power (quirk). Love my '13 Armada, but it has more rattles and already has a rust patch starting. Has a heated steering wheel which my QX56 is missing The 05 has a full bench for the 3rd row, no 60/40 split. Not ideal. Think they fixed that issue in 06.
Wow what a great video. I’m just starting to look for one and this was a great start.
High quality video and good info about the car
I have a 08 and I love it. The very dependable engine
Awesome review mike! I was hoping you would do one of these and guess what, you delivered amazing content! Just wish the driving part would be a little longer and maybe a little more acceleration clips!
Thanks for the feedback. Sometimes I feel like the driving clips are less desirable because its more talking and less showing the car but I'll keep your input in mind.
Fantastic review!
I love my 2007 Qx56 I got it for 2500
how reliable has it been??
That is a steal. Was it a salvage title or something. Whats the catch?
The button that you say dims the instrument cluster is actually to control the position of the Headlights. I own a 06, 08 and 13 and they all have that same feature.
Thanks for the input. Very cool feature!
How are they holding up? Looking at buying a qx56
I don't have any data, however, just from reading the comments in a dozen or so UA-cam videos, the Infiniti's seem to have more issues and problems than the Armada's of the same vintage, specifically reading about Infiniti blend door actuators and dashboard (electronics) issues. Both models are susceptible to premature catalytic converter failure.
I am not an audiophile, but I know that Bose is considered more of a 'marketing' brand, than true, high end audio. That being typed, I LOVE the sound from my 2015 Armada Platinum head unit/speakers.
Every time I see the back of this suv I’m thinking it’s Nissan Armada, but it’s not!😂🤦🏾♂️
They do look similar...
Basically same thing
Nissan owns infinity
I absolutely LOVE the (so-called) 'dated' interior and exterior of this vintage of the R51 Pathfinder and the TA60 Armada.
For MY money, the VK56 and VQ40DE are THE best non-exotic vehicle engines, second only to the 4.6 and 5.7 in the Lexus GX and LX, and even that is arguable, as the Nissan's have better throttle response, but the Lexus' are a little more refined. I prefer the engine in my Pathfinder and Armada over the Lexus, however, I can understand those who would prefer the Lexus.
For MY money, the R51 and the TA 60 are THE best values in body on frame SUV's. In 2024, you can pick up a very clean R51 for about $10,000 and a very clean TA60 for about $20,000.
I just bought a 2006.
I’m looking at a 2004. The gentleman says it all wheel drive, but I see no badging stating that. I thought they only came in four-wheel-drive or either rear wheel drive. How would I know if it’s actually all wheel drive? Did they make an all wheel drive?
Size of the tires please?
I have a QX 56 what remotes work on the DVD player if you go through infiniti they cost almost 300
How do you open the glass hatch on the back? Have driven this model for over a year and still can't figure it out lol.
Has a button under the Infiniti sign, feels like a bump press it hard
I owned both the 1st and currently own the 2nd gen. Honestly they need to redesign the qx80 as it uses the same body as the 2011 and the tech in our 2011 was good for that time is really outdated now
Well done! Does the rear glass open on this model?
Sure does!
Weird how this one doesn’t have a transmission temp gauge, battery or oil pressure gauge
Cool 😎
Can you compare it with qx80 2014 and 2022?
Compare all the options and which one faster
I've test driven the 15 and 22 model. Honestly, they're about the same. And that's not a bad thing. Nissan makes solid trucks, and if ain't broke don't fix it. It's a reliable platform.
I was looking at a used one for sale, it's a 2005 with 182,000 for $8900, never heard of this vehicle before but it looks nice.
Too much just got a 2011 nissan armada platinum for 12,000 with only 127,000
Im looking at one 2007 130,k for $8,000 clean in and out
my have around 230,xxx miles
I just got a 2005 110k miles for 6k. I absolutely love it. I had it for 3 weeks now
@@GnosticJuggernaut. how is it for daily driving
Where is this vehicle located? I am interested in purchasing it. I see the for sale sign. Thank you
Bend, Oregon. Link to dealer website is in the description.
QX56 vs GMT900 Tahoe?
I personally like the Tahoe more but they are both pretty solid rides.
How tall are you! Would fit tall persons?
5'10". Plenty large for someone taller than me
Thankkk you((8
More horsepower than the armada
Also takes premium fuel while the armada takes regular
@Tripp216 I wasn't aware of that. My Maxima took premium. Loved everything else about that car but hated paying for it at the pump. Can't imagine feeding this beast. A lot of people told me I didn't have to use premium, but I didn't trust their opinions. When a manufacturer tells you what kind of fluids to use with their machinery, you listen.
I had that bih 6 year but I fucked it up
I thought EVRY infinte suv had 7 seats and ... this came and... ya the 8 seater 😑
Bench seats optioned on this one, mine has them too
Do these have aux ports
For phones
My 05 qx56 does not. But I believe my 13 Armada does.
@@kericabrito4384 thx
I still think the armada is nicer looking
Big bulky plastics cheaply
That makes no since

@@CarWizard lol, weird seeing you here. How's your QX56 holding up? I'm looking at an 06 with 150,000 miles, I'm not super familiar with the 5.6 or the trans. They're asking $5,000, new brakes all around, new rear suspension, new driveshaft, u joints and muffler. Provided it passes a pre purchase inspection, should I go for it?
