This sketchbook is so so creative, I haven't really seen any artists on UA-cam nowadays with an even remotely similar style. It makes my heart happy how complex people are and the drawings they do to reflect them and their emotions!!

i loved seeing the colours come in. i have been doing a drawing a day every day since 2015 and those series of sketchbooks are some of my favourite things i have ever done. i love seeing other people doing similar things. i hope you enjoy doing your 2021 dairy.
That is incredible! Definitely something to be proud of! Aren’t the sketchbooks just wonderful to look back through? I am inspired by your dedication, thank you for sharing ☺️
When I was a kid I used to draw all kinds of aliens. I remember I got in huge trouble in school, they called my parents and I was not allowed to draw them anymore. I draw portraits of people now but Omgsh you’re diary inspires me to draw my aliens again 🧝🏻♀️🧝🏿♂️
Oh yay, I agree, draw your aliens!!!! I am lucky that my dad wasn’t too concerned about what I drew as a kid and encouraged me to just do what I loved. It breaks my heart when I hear how some weren’t encouraged in the same way, so I’ll definitely add my voice to anyone pushing you to take up drawing your aliens again if you miss it! 🥰
this is stunning. Your ideas are so helpful, like writing goals at the beginning of a sketchbook and recording statistics, like how many days of the month you use it. Very applicable ideas for an analytical yet artsy person like me. Your style is such an inspiration of a cohesive look. Thank you for posting!
This actually kinda helped me. A lot of times I’m so focused on improving that I forget to have fun and I’m a person who just can’t draw when I’m forcing myself. I’ll probably try something like this, also because I have troubles creating something just from me. Idk when it started to be like this, but It’s like my brain is dead and all I can do is to copy. I mean I can have some idea, but it’s just couple of things copied together. I just feel like I lost my ability to create stuff and I feel worn out because what I do most of the time is stressing about what I can’t do. This could be a good chance to finally get rid of my bounderies and insecurities
I feel the same...it makes me insecure to not at least copy an outline because I like portraits but I fear drawing out of proportion and the thought of not being happy with the result in the end paralyses me a lot...there is a lot of acceptance/ letting go that's required to be a true artist, not perfection. I was also not like this when I was younger and I personally think our culture and our society has been a huge factor in suppressing that. It's the reason we have so much depression because we're forced to put on a mask and pretend to have it all together pretty much all the time. We tell children to 'grow up' but they are the ones who know true wonder and imagination....we all had that once and I believe that if we release ourselves from expectations and fear of judgement we can find that boundless spirit once again :)
omg i totally in the same stage as you and after watching this vid all i realised is we shd just keep making stuffs and make it as a habit rather than focusing on i need to make sth big and complete and what we gotta do i think is we have to boost our own confidence and security by looking back our progress, cuz when i look back at my old paintings i still always feel the energy of it
I randomly got back to this coment so I’ll update cause I think I got a lot better. I still don’t do very complex drawings and I only have the attention spam to draw things that take like max hour BUT I got back to coloring and that makes me super happy. Finally got bored of only just a pencil :) I also draw usually without references so I use my brain at least there. I still have troubles thinking of ideas but I have to say my art got genuinely a lot better then when I wrote this. I quite changed up my art style and I draw very quickly now which is a good thing considering my lack of attention spam
The diary in this video is by Oberthur, it was a chance find in a French bookstore, I was never able to find it again either in person or online. I got in touch with the company and they told me they do still produce a version of it with white paper, but it is not available online, only in store, in select chains in France. Hope you'll enjoy this little sketchbook tour everyone! 2020 may not have been the best year for me to try this challenge out XD but it was fun nonetheless! Are you tempted to give it a go yourself?
I've been thinking about doing something like that for a while now, and watching your video gave me the motivation I needed. I was putting too much pression on myself and you helped me seeing the true goal behind this kind of exercice. By the way, it's so nice to see how you got more comfortable drawing just for fun with each passing week, and how it reflects on your art!
I thank you for this video because it made me realised how much I dreaded working on new projects. I'm studying architecture you see? and despite how much I love it, I have been feeling so lost lately. I couldn't bring myself to finish or hand in my last project because I hated it and I dreaded to work on it to the point where I started to doubt this was the right career for me. I would look at old drawings of crazy buildings I came up with as a child and I felt something missing from my work and I couldn't realise what it was and then your video made me realise I was missing the fun. I was missing that "I'm not doing things because I have to, but rather because I wanted to" like how you say you missed drawing for fun! I'm glad you ended up taking this challenge, and I'm super glad you ended up posting this video because thanks to it getting recommended to me, I now understand so much more about myself. Now I've been working on some project ideas and just having fun with them and I feel much less stressed out and like I love what I'm doing again! So really, I just want to say thank you for everything that you didn't even know you were doing, cuz somehow you helped me a lot. Oh god I hope I didn't make many grammar mistakes. English is not my first language.
I felt so proud of you while watching this video firstly your art is amazing, and also because I took on a similar task, and it's definitely not easy. And I can relate with so many things you have said, except for I am setting myself free from 7 years of artblock, and it's exciting and terrifying at the same time. So I might be coming back every other day to listen to this video over and over to find peace and keep on doing what I love. Thank you for inspiring me. I love your art!
Yes!! Thank you so much for the inspiration, I'm definitely going to do it for this year! I feel like it's the perfect "container" for some stress free, pressure free, daily drawing. I've been watching your videos for years now, you are a great source of inspiration and I really want to thank you sincerely for all the hard work and the love you put into it, to provide us with such a quality content. All the best xxx
love how you can see a marked difference in your confidence and creativity when you started to let lose and have fun with it! tiny sketchbooks are my go to for bringing the element of fun back into my art!
What i loved most about seeing this journey is that how you kept returning to some ideas some days. I draw and paint as a hobby and even then i usually feel really guilty when i repeat ideas that i actually enjoy because i feel like i should constantly be more creative. This was really encouraging, made me feel more validated for exploring some ideas as much as i'd like. And i love how many times you went over the boundaries of the page. I struggle with that a lot too for some reason. As if i am not allowed to use the corners of my page or as if i don't own the next page. But your drawings, especially by the end, look really free and bold and i love the ideas and the artstyle so much!! And one more thing: All artists have good and bad days when it comes to inspiration or drawing style and i thank you so much for showing all of it here. Another big pressure with most of my sketchbooks for me is that i feel like i should make it all look their best. And when it doesn't happen some days, it really puts me off of drawing for a long time. Seeing you lay it all out there was absolutely beautiful. Thank you so much for this video! I'd love to see if you try it again for this year (of course it's understandable if you don't want to share it, making it for fun first and thinking of content later is something everyone deserves). Great channel, i am glad youtube decided to recommend this to me!!!! Have a nice uh..rest of the year and thank you so much for this video!!!
My favorite is the one shown at “6:06” the one on the left side. Seeing how good you are and sometimes you still doodle like that. I’m still at that low level of doodling, so yea believe it or not that was my inspiration. To be able to doodle better. But how you said”there all as equal importance, for the fact that they each have there own page” 👍👍👍
Myriam, lots of great takeaways from this project. It was a great idea. I think that artists, creatives are most happy when they are productive, so to pay attention to how productive we actually are is healthy and positive. I'm getting ready to try Inktober after years of not having drawn....something like that (I suspect) would be quite easy for you having tried to do it daily for a year. Obviously, as someone doing it for a living, you are quite serious and productive as an artist, so doing something like this is really more 'for you' as a personal project. It appears you really got a lot out of the project, and the mostly full sketchbook is an accomplishment rightly treasured. It's been positive for me to see each sketchbook as its own standalone project- I treat them sort of like issues of a magazine produced by one person. They are either "open", meaning that I continue to work in them, or "closed", meaning that they are completed. Completed means either to resume work in another sketchbook, or to serve as an excuse to buy another one....I guess each artist has to find their own process that works for them. Also, not for nothing, kudos for picking as your main discipline, figure drawing, one of the most difficult subjects to tackle. The finished paintings are great as well, more power to you.
I often include little doodles or paintings in the daily journal I write in. I don't draw in it every day (though I do write in it everyday), but most of the art I do tends to be what's in my journal, because it is so low pressure; it's smaller and since it's my personal journal, I don't have to show it to anyone if I don't like it. I also have a little tarot journal where I try to do a single card reading everyday and draw the card with every reading.
I love that so much. It sounds lovely and personal in the best ways :) Thanks for sharing, I always find hearing what others have as part of their creative routines inspiring and interesting!
One of you should try to do the illustration for your own tarot deck and get it published. I always wanted to do that but make a deck with other artists. Preferably 4 different artist for each suite and then feature smaller/beginner artist to do one of each of major arcana cards.
I really love the fact that it's like a journal with the date written above. I think having to skip a page and leaving it blank is a very good motivator to keep going. I would find the blank pages very confronting, but I do really love your story and explanation. I love how you dare to show your weak side and 'bad' days. I have tried to draw everyday but then I didn't skip pages, this way it feels like the days were I didn't draw (about 1/3 of the time) just didn't exist, and had no purpose, meaning or contribution, they were just failed days. But in your book they didn't at all look like failed days. You embraced them and even gave them a page in your journal. Like a day of rest, silence and especially emptyness and nothingness. It's hard for me to accept that those days are very necessary as well, to repair, rest rethink, do others things or just do nothing. But often they are filled with selfhatred and disappointment, but maybe that's something you can embrace as well. This book made you look so open and human will all your flaws, strengths, insecurities and skills. Thank you for showing your human side :) it helped me accept mine a bit more, and I think the same for a lot of others
This would be a great thing to start every year at the end of january or february, because little diaries like this always go on sale in book stores/stationary stores because they're labeled with the date. By the end of February they're usually like 80% off!
At first, I was like "I really like her art style, I should subscribe to this channel" but my forgetful self didn't remember that I already subscribed to her channel. lol
man i felt like this opened up so much in me, i think a lot about some things you said (like the feeling of everything being all or nothing or invalidating myself because i miss something or lack motivation/inspiration) this was really nice thank u
Wow, even though you didn't draw in the sketchbook every day you did so much. I love that some pieces were turned into full pieces. Amazing sketches and completed drawings.
I’m heading out to buy a diary tomorrow! 7th of April is as good as any day to start!! So inspiring and I love the idea of having a special space every day to do the sketch to keep track of my progress.
dont know about high quality sketch book but seeing in my home many calendar books that are not used - this looks perfect to have a print in calendar to see which pages are drawn and which are skipped very nice. very inspirational to get back in to sketching again
Great drawings. ✨💛I like how they became colorful at the end. Really enjoyed your marker drawings. Like hands at 9:49 or figure drawings at 7:47 and 7:51. And the whole double pages at 9:36 and 10:17 are stunnig. ✨👏 They are all cool:) It's nice to listen to your thoughts.
Your skill level is so high, and abstract ideas are so creative that its a bit overwhelming from the perspective of a beginner. Nice vid too, and thank you gor sharing.
I woke up today, watched your video first thing with a cup of coffee. Paused it after ten minutes to go to my local library to buy a small agenda to start my 2021 sketchbook. Thank you for reminding me that I'm not what I draw, but that I just simply love to do it. And damn, your English is good.... Je suis jalouse. 😉
How can anyone not like this? There are so many interesting visuals and concepts here! I'm so excited to see how many of them will be turned into paintings or evolve into new ideas! I don't even draw and I'm super inspired to create something from looking at this! Thank you for your hard work Myriam!
love the juxtaposition between what i think is may 15th and 16th, the simplicity and familiarity of the left side compared to the value and composition on the right. just immediately subscribed, your art is lovely
I just starting balling and crying, I put down my pencil because i thought i wasn't good enough. you inspired me so much thank you. your art and self expression are BEAUTIFUL!
Ok but I’m SO GLAD you’re showing the original and some of the finished pieces. Seeing that process is the most inspiring and helpful to witness. Thank you so much for sharing your incredible work! And what you learned along the way ❤️
Amazing "doodles". You really set your aim high with the quality you needed to achieve every day. It is true that learning a skill as complicated as drawing takes a lot of practise and time, more so with unique ideas. I just hope you can be more kind to yourself and accept that some days are not as easy as others. Really great work and original ideas. Just don't be so hard on yourself!
I watched this video because I love the look of a full notebook/journal/sketch pad/etc that no longer naturally closes completely because most of the pages have been used and are no longer perfectly flat. It shows the owner's achievement and dedication to their discipline in such a visually satisfying way. I especially love it when you can see so many slivers of color along the edge. So after the shot of the diary at the beginning I just had to come along for the journey to see what was inside. The message of the video ended up helping me too. I don't feel like I have any artistic skill but I do like to occasionally color/paint/draw for fun. Unfortunately it often goes from fun to stressful as I put too much pressure on myself. I found the takeaway message of the video very uplifting
i am sorely tempted to try something like this, and i think i might, mainly because i'd like to build a daily drawing habit, even if i only draw something simple! i have admired your style of art (specifically the kind of surreal subject matter) for a while and i'm curious: is this a style that you've built over the course of your art journey, or is this the kind of thing you've always gravitated towards drawing (if that makes sense)? did you start out creating art with more "typical" subject matter, or have you always liked creating more surreal art, to put it another way.
It was an absolute pleasure watching your drawings switch back and forth between the surrealist dreamy like mindscape and surrealist fantasy! Sharp lines with haze blending makes for a wonderful departure from the every day harshness of reality.
listening to you describe your challenges with motivation and expectations really resonates within me. thanks for being honest and such an inspiration!
What you do SO well and what I really is how much DEPTH your concepts convey. Theyre rich with meaning and emotion. The fantasy and imagination behind them are beautiful. As an urban sketcher, or someone who draws mainly from landscape photos, I draw whats there and that's what I'm used to: so seeing your concept work from imagination is super inspiring. Hope I can reach that imaginative level one day :)
I was wondering the same, but as a french native speaker, I didn't get the french accent at first. However, now that I pay attention I can notice the accent on the consonant I would say :P You hide it very well, congrats ! Not easy lol
I must say Myriam, you have an amazing style. I was just watching the video and listening to your thoughts and from the most simple to the most intricate, everything is so delicate, strange and concept shaker. Props to your art, and keep up! Thanks for the inspiration
If I had a third of your talent I would be so happy. I love how your brain works your art is so different. I don't know how you think/draw like this. Good for you on doing such work it does feel good to do something you enjoy everyday even when it's hard to think.
I really appreciate your candid explanation and insights into your process, and I think your doodles got a lot more interesting and better quality as time progressed.
Just stumbed upon this video and your channel, and I am just mindblown by the creativity of your mind and all the ideas you have been able to come up with!
such fun !! I can fill a sketch pad in a day or a few weeks or maybe months between drawing sessions. For a while I couldn't get the pads I like so I got a dry-erase board and markers, when I do a drawing I take a photo of it. a little more eco-friendly as I'm not accumulating landfill filler, just electrons.
Very cool. I understand your struggle with allowing vs efforting. I think for all artists that dance remains an exhausting tango. I have been working on a peace journal- words, collage, sketches- something I can flip through in future times of stress and it will give me confidence and peace- for a few months tho I do miss several days at a time sometimes, I’m persisting.
I love your videos. You are always so genuine and your artwork is stunning. You are a real gem and an inspiration to me. Although I have been drawing for over 50 years, I often have trouble believing in myself. Sometimes I can't paint at all, then I see one of your videos and I feel better. Going on seems possible again. Thank you for putting out your rambling, truthful content.
Thank you so much for such kind words! Believing in ourselves is a lifelong journey I think, and something we are rarely taught because so few of us know how to do it, let alone teach it. I have days when I can’t paint at all either, and I just take it one step at a time. Having it as a job does help in forcing me to push past the feeling, but I’d lie if I said it always comes easy. I’m very touched to hear my videos have been helpful to you. Thank you for your comment, it warmed my heart deeply.
I would really love to see your ideas turned into sculptures, that must be fantastic! every sketch is so unique and magnificent since I do not have things like these in my mind and do not really see similar artworks either. I guess, it is your style of drawing (?). again, loveee the idea of using parts of the human body as different things (hands as flowers, skin as a coat, the head as a plate). thank you for sharing your art!
I am extremely grateful for this perspective andthat you have shared all of your thoughts- the good the bad and the ugly in the process. It really helps me to reflect on my own habitual approaches and my procrastination and perfectionism. Thank you for making it - just for fun and not to do it thing its a huge perspetive shift!!!!
thank you for sharing, myriam:) i appreciated being able to see the visible reality of an artist's intention and experience, as manifest in your daily doodle diary. it's encouraging to see how much can be accomplished realistically, as well as the reality of off days and quieter periods. i loved the variety of images, styles and media portrayed and enjoyed seeing how a regular session unfolds multiple aspects of an experience. with gratitude and all blessings forward in your art and life:)
I loved this video so much! Looking at your art + listening to your thoughts was actually so therapeutic for me. Helped me have my very own introspection and epiphany. You are an amazing artist / thinker!
Thank you so much for your video. Yesterday i began sketching as a hobby, so i have no idea what direction i wil go to. I love your style and would like to use a few of your concepts as a source and inspiration to explore drawing/sketching at home. Cheers!

Right, and for anyone who wants to get better at drawing should try this too because that's the best way to get better is what I've heard
AGREED
The drawing I picked my favorite and snapshot was orange WTH?
I love that you show a finished artwork when appropriate, it's interesting to see a first doodle/idea/concept and how that evolves.
Thank you, glad you like it! I love seeing where ideas come from and how they evolve too :)

If you want any tips for building drawing foundations let me know :)
Happy doodling!
@@theendtimes1705 that sounds AMAZING
While reading this suddenly the wish to one day create my own tarot deck popped up on my being
Good stuff. Consistancy is strength. Ive drawn every day for over five years. Dont stop.
Hey. How do you not tire out?
I loved watching the flip through. I’m really noticing that you seem a lot more relaxed, I hope that your feeling better after your anemia. Xxx
Great video!, I recently started sketching everyday and chose to draw a bear each day and I’m loving it so far✍🏼 on day 23 today 🐻
Those doodles are amazing! So much creativity is on those pages! I’m sure you’ll feel so proud and nostalgic when you find this journal years later
Lol. The sketches compared to the final version. The sketches are really good but the final versions GAH DAMN 🥰
One of my favorite sketchbooks of all time. I've watched this at least 3 times. I just love your art.
This would be a great thing to start every year at the end of january or february, because little diaries like this always go on sale in book stores/stationary stores because they're labeled with the date. By the end of February they're usually like 80% off!
“Worrying is one of my main skills in life”. Love it . Such a good project for your self thank you for sharing and the inspiration
I really like how abstract and macabre some of this art is.
Massive talent in this sketchbook. Wow Myriam, this is incredibly good.
I’m heading out to buy a diary tomorrow! 7th of April is as good as any day to start!! So inspiring and I love the idea of having a special space every day to do the sketch to keep track of my progress.
dont know about high quality sketch book but seeing in my home many calendar books that are not used - this looks perfect to have a print in calendar to see which pages are drawn and which are skipped very nice.
very inspirational to get back in to sketching again
drawing just for fun is a good way to tame the tendency to overthink (in life in general)
J’ai remarqué que les jours étaient en français, ton anglais est vraiment top si tu parles français à la base, et tes dessins aussi sont très cools
Wow! You can definitely see how much progress you made with each page! Beautiful artwork ❤️
I would love a more involved piece of the one on the right at 3:48. It spoke to me
I also adore 5:21
These looked really cool!
I like your art, it's like if body horror wasn't scary.
I just love you!! Classic music is life! I can work better, think better, and be grateful for life
Wow we have a similar art style! Definitely did not expect anyone to be a little weirdo like me...
Welcome my fellow lil weirdo! :D
love the juxtaposition between what i think is may 15th and 16th, the simplicity and familiarity of the left side compared to the value and composition on the right. just immediately subscribed, your art is lovely
I just starting balling and crying, I put down my pencil because i thought i wasn't good enough. you inspired me so much thank you. your art and self expression are BEAUTIFUL!
I looove your videos so so much... runs when I paint or before I paint to get into a creative and inspired mental space...Thanks for that!
Who or what are/ were your influences of your aesthetic, styles and general art?
Ok but I’m SO GLAD you’re showing the original and some of the finished pieces. Seeing that process is the most inspiring and helpful to witness. Thank you so much for sharing your incredible work! And what you learned along the way ❤️
Amazing "doodles". You really set your aim high with the quality you needed to achieve every day. It is true that learning a skill as complicated as drawing takes a lot of practise and time, more so with unique ideas. I just hope you can be more kind to yourself and accept that some days are not as easy as others. Really great work and original ideas. Just don't be so hard on yourself!
Your style is already professional...great ideas for full works, congrats!
you sound normal but based on your artwork you're obviously weird as hell. i love that.
Me: Draws something im proud of
**Shows to my friends**
My friends: Woww you are soo great!!
**Goes home (proudly)**
Then when i see the vid
Me: Dies
It's okay , keep going and don't compare yourself. You'll end up being better with more practice
@@zaineba7319 wow thank you! I'll keep that in my mind@
listening to you describe your challenges with motivation and expectations really resonates within me. thanks for being honest and such an inspiration!
Я ничего не поняла, но мне очень понравилось ваши иллюстрации ❤
I love how the narration is so sunny, but the art is often so macabre. It’s awesome.
Your art makes me so uncomfortable in the most beautiful way
What you do SO well and what I really is how much DEPTH your concepts convey.
The irony: stressing out about creating mentally healthy habits xD
The beautiful December sunsets! 😍 I could *feel* those. Thanks for the inspiration!
Is this person french? They kinda have an accent.
Her journal is also in French. Maybe she is
I am indeed ^^
I was wondering the same, but as a french native speaker, I didn't get the french accent at first. However, now that I pay attention I can notice the accent on the consonant I would say :P You hide it very well, congrats ! Not easy lol
wowi did't even notice the accent!
good job!
Good for you on doing such work it does feel good to do something you enjoy everyday even when it's hard to think.
wow you literally had me hooked for the entire video!!!! this is such a good idea, i might start this challenge this year! :)
Your style is soooo creepy good, but legit goosebumps-inducing at the same time. I love it!
Loved seeing your sketches and hearing your thoughts & experiences with daily drawing! 😍
I really appreciate your candid explanation and insights into your process, and I think your doodles got a lot more interesting and better quality as time progressed.
I love the drawing of the woman emerging from the white and black tiger, I believe. You are honestly an amazing artist.
this share is very helpful to so many people. wonderful example of learning through relaxing and finding joy in sketching
Every single one of them is soooo good! And the full paintings are just perfect. You're amazing!
I love your art style and emotions your art produces and reflects what it's like to be a human at times
Just stumbed upon this video and your channel, and I am just mindblown by the creativity of your mind and all the ideas you have been able to come up with!
such fun !! I can fill a sketch pad in a day or a few weeks or maybe months between drawing sessions. For a while I couldn't get the pads I like so I got a dry-erase board and markers, when I do a drawing I take a photo of it. a little more eco-friendly as I'm not accumulating landfill filler, just electrons.
i like your honesty in reflecting on your own habits and thoughts that impede you. very wise
Your art looks so emotional and broken. GORGEOUS.
I relate a lot to the struggles you described. Life as an artist can be such a rollercoaster. Here's hoping for a more joyful new year!
Love the sketchbook as an item itself too! I always try to sketch every now and then. Wishing you the best for 2021 :)
I guess, it is your style of drawing (?). again, loveee the idea of using parts of the human body as different things (hands as flowers, skin as a coat, the head as a plate). thank you for sharing your art!
your art reminds me so much of james jean’s work! i assume he’s a big inspiration? beautiful ideas and execution
I am extremely grateful for this perspective andthat you have shared all of your thoughts- the good the bad and the ugly in the process. It really helps me to reflect on my own habitual approaches and my procrastination and perfectionism. Thank you for making it - just for fun and not to do it thing its a huge perspetive shift!!!!
thank you for sharing, myriam:)
i appreciated being able to see the visible reality of an artist's intention and experience, as manifest in your daily doodle diary. it's encouraging to see how much can be accomplished realistically, as well as the reality of off days and quieter periods.
i loved the variety of images, styles and media portrayed and enjoyed seeing how a regular session unfolds multiple aspects of an experience.
with gratitude and all blessings forward in your art and life:)
I loved this video so much! Looking at your art + listening to your thoughts was actually so therapeutic for me. Helped me have my very own introspection and epiphany. You are an amazing artist / thinker!
i love how abstract her art is thats amazing
Thank you so much for your video. Yesterday i began sketching as a hobby, so i have no idea what direction i wil go to.
I love your style and would like to use a few of your concepts as a source and inspiration to explore drawing/sketching at home. Cheers!
