    I think you already solved your 100 heads challenge dilemma! Draw them wherever, but keep a digital log of them so you can keep count. No one said you couldn't take pictures and keep them in a folder on your computer or something. I have to laugh at myself too, as I saw two different sketches I wanted a closer look at, so I paused the video to inspect them. The ones that caught my eye were the woman in sci-fi armor (gave me distinct Mass Effect vibes, but I'm not going to assume it was), and the sketch you did from Wheel of Time of Lan and Nynaeve. I must be on a fandom kick lately, lol.

    • @evydraws-art
      @evydraws-art  5 місяців тому +5

      I really will just keep a digital log! Though I won't count the "line drawing only" portraits, only shaded ones, just to change it up from my previous portrait sketchbook. 🥰
      I'm so happy you noticed those particular sketches! And yes, one is Shepard, and then I was watching WoT S1 and doodled some Lan and Nynaeve. Always great practice ^^

      @TheBlackHatOutlaw 5 місяців тому +1

      @@evydraws-art I thought it was female Shepard! I just wasn't fully sure, there was no N7 logo or anything. I find it really funny because I'm in the middle of playing through those games again. WoT is such a good show too. My wife and I started getting the books once it come out. No regrets!

    • @evydraws-art

      You can totally tell that my sketchbooks are a playground to draw whatever I'm currently obsessed with! I was replaying ME2 at the time 😆 and while I haven't watched season 2 yet, I loved the first one of WoT!

      @TheBlackHatOutlaw 5 місяців тому +1

      @@evydraws-art Oh absolutely can tell, yes. I hope to get my own to that point. I won't bore you with details, but the short version is I still have guilt in drawing what I'm currently obsessed with even though I know there's nothing wrong with doing that. That's part of why your videos inspire me so much. You draw what you love.

      @@TheBlackHatOutlaw for a long time I had this same sense of fanart being "bad" art - kind of imbued by art teachers even in high school and the general mood back then amongst artists, too. But I think it's such a wonderful, stressfree outlet - and I like to think that some of the great master painters back in the baroque and renaissance era were painting religious and Greek mythology fanart as well. 😉😆

    you draw and paint so.freaking.much. i also love the idea of having multiple sketchbooks instead of just filling one at a time, and you've been and still are one of my biggest inspirations now. and i proudly work in a mixed media and marker sketchbooks and just bought myself a watercolor one since i miss coloring my sketches with paints so much

      Thank you so much! I think the variety is what keeps me sketching a lot...! Some of the smaller sketchbooks are perfect for drawing while watching a movie, for example, and others are for more focused sketching sessions :) I'm still looking for the "perfect" mixed media sketchbook, if such a thing even exists haha

    I loved seeing so much art in different mediums. I also have a love for fantasy and darker art styles, I've been wanting to paint something like that for a while now but I haven't created anything like that yet. I've been reluctant to embrace my artistic side (and my inclination to study and work with art) and I've been restricting myself, so this year I haven't created much besides some simple portraits with pencils and markers. I really loved your video, I'm glad I decided to watch it today, it was very inspiring, your art is so beautiful!

    • @evydraws-art
      @evydraws-art  5 місяців тому

      Thank you for the lovely words - but also, I'm sorry to hear you've been restricting yourself. I hear that from a lot of artists and have felt that way in the past, too - and still do sometimes! It can be difficult to embrace what we really want to do and sometimes, starting with small steps can help a lot. It's why I love having tiny sketchbooks 💙 I hope you can try some dark, fantasy art soon and explore that 🥰

    Dragons don’t count 😅😅😅. I watch ALOT of artists on YT and you are SOOOOOO refreshing! You speak so naturally, your cinematic efforts don’t go unnoticed and your audio is a pleasant mix of your commentary and gentle background music. Subbed! 🇨🇦
    I love your large format sketchbook, I haven’t found a favourite yet, bouncing among mediums has me scattered at the moment. I find that blackwing matte so smudgey! Your coloured pencil drawings are exquisite…congrats on your goal progress 🎉👏🍾

      Dragons for sure don't count as portraits haha - so happy someone noticed that little bit of text 😆 and thank you for this wonderful comment, it honestly made my morning! I enjoy learning more and more about filming and editing.
      The Blackwing Matte does smudge, so I add a liiiittle bit of fixative spray if a drawing uses a lot of it. The colored pencils not smudging is one of the reasons I love using them so much! 🥰

    It was so enjoyable seeing all your different sketchbooks! Your art style is beautiful and I love the range of mediums and subjects! Out of all these sketchbooks is there one in particular that would you say is your favourite? ❤
    As for your question at the end, recently I've been enjoying the royal talents art creation sketchbooks. I got myself an A4 one that allows for bigger drawings and a very small picked size one that I can throw in my bag. I think they're so great for the price!

    • @evydraws-art
      @evydraws-art  5 місяців тому

      Thank you! And that's a great question: I really love drawing in my new, large Hahnemühle sketchbook at the moment, but I'd be saddest if I lost the Arches travel sketchbooks, just because of how much I've painted in them over the years, so they feel like a part of my art journey. 😊
      Royal Talens ones have been on my list for a while! I love to touch new sketchbooks and papers in art shops before deciding to buy one, and sadly, Royal Talens isn't very popular here in Korea. A4 sketchbooks and similar formats are just so much fun!

      My go-to sketchbook is the Canson Graduate sketchbook. It's 140 g/m paper and only 20 sheets, so it's thin and lightweight while still having paper sturdy enough to withstand ink. Not great for truly wet mediums like watercolor, though, but it's great for just noodling around, and inking something whenever I feel like it. :D I didn't know Arches made sketchbooks too :o

Funnily enough, 2024's been a year of coloured pencils, especially in sketching, for me too! Usually a watercolour and now gouache user, so it's been fun.
