    Awesome Fire Table April! However, I will probably wait until next spring to build one. I'm very busy in the fall harvesting soybeans and corn on my farm. I'm glad you included links for the Fire Pan Kit and Horizontal Propane Tank, since I will need those when I build one. What are the over all dimensions for both of your Fire Table Plans? I might have missed it but I don't think you mentioned it in this video, and I don't see the dimensions on your website plan's either. Great Video! Enjoy your fall evenings relaxing by a peaceful fire April!

      Sounds like you've got your work cut out for you! I forgot to mention the dimensions. They're now on my website with the plans. The large fire table is 39.5"x39.5" and the small fire table is 30"x30". Hope this helps!

    I think it would have made sense to to put a platform inside for the tank. With wheels, I can see this shifting around and banging into the tank, especially by guests who might want to just move it a little closer, move it aside as some passes, etc. Also, as the design stands, when you do want to move, you have to go under and disconnect the tank, move, move tank, and reconnect. One other thought was that the inner frame seems like it would benefit from some upright members, rather than relying on just the plywood.

  • @chicagorandy

    Very nice build - thanks for sharing. One question, for climates subject to a lot of rain and snow, should the interior bare lumber be seal-coated/weather proofed?

    was that fire glass? Looked like normal aquarium glass? Im building a fire table, but getting fire glass is hard here, but i have 100 pounds of glass aquarium stones i use in other decorative projects id like to use, but i believe its not safe (unless i like exploding glass)

    • @AprilWilkerson

  • @331SVTCobra
    @331SVTCobra Рік тому +1

    The magnet idea is great. Not sure I'd build fire furniture out of wood though.
    For youtubers, research whether propane leaves soot on fireglass.... I believe fireglass works best with natural gas. I have fire stones instead of glass, the soot is significant. Also, a glass fence around the fire makes it pop.
    April, thanks for the video, the result looks great.

    • @haunthunterify

      If you are getting soot on glass with your propane then you need to research and add an air mixer. Problem solved.

    Looks nice but a quick glance at the burner manual will tell you there is a 48" clearance around it to combustibles. So your wood top will dry out and become a fire hazard. Be careful when messing with fire and DIY products in videos people.

    Question. I saw that you have the SawStop Floating Overarm Dust Collection unit. It is understandable that you wouldn't use it while pushing lumber through while the operation is being videoed; however, there was a lot of sawdust on the table saw. So my question is, do you ever use it? Trying to decide on what overarm unit to get - if any at all. BTW, I am the one Laura Kampf asked to take a picture of you, her and Andy Birkey at the Bay Area Makers Faire. Thanks.

    Oh my goodness am I so very thankful for your recommendation of the new modeling software! I have been building projects for more than 15 years. Always stuff straight from my head to the shop, which of course was complicated and so very time consuming as I never had an actual plan on paper. I tried Sketch Up several times and for whatever reason it just wasn't working for me. This new one, however...game changer. The moment I watched the video and saw your suggestion for the Make By Me software I was hooked. Jumped right on it, easy as can be and modeled a firewood rack I've been wanting to build for years. The breakdown of materials needed and cut list is going to absolutely change my building life. I can't thank you enough April. Love it! And of course love all the things you build ❤

    I've noticed this from multiple maker videos i watched, but why do you make multiple passes with the chop saw instead of just one swooping chop? I'm assuming it's something to do with the sliding action? My saw doesn't have the sliding feature, just a 12" compound miter saw

    • @johncampbell4923
