The cost of a new crankshaft made replacement cost effective and it is peace of mind for the new owner. This should help you to get a good price when the time comes to sell. Looking forward to the next part of this repair.
A piece of pipe and a dial indicator can be used to straighten that crank in situ lol there is a vid on Steve's Small Engine Saloon , was about 15 mins work and the job was done
Yeah I hear seen Steve's videos.. he's a stand up guy.. but remember that there is always other ways to repair a engine.. I'm just showing one of the other ways
Just an idea here but pressure wash the underside as part of the refurb, I pressure wash the whole engine and takes a minute but brings it up clean for working. Never had an issue.
A simple easy fix he says, and yeah right ? . Can't wait for the second followup video from the big tattooed monk. Someone's going to get a resurrected beauty for a good price. Awesome to watch, thank you Sir 👍 Tam.
At 33:10, after application of gasket sealant and reinstallation of the pan head, are all the pan bolts fully torqued after only 10 minutes (and then left in place for 24 hours before filling the pan with oil)?
Trying to do a catch up on your videos as I am well behind, that shaft was well bent on that Briggs and Stratton engine. If you get a new honda GCVx engine in with this issue which is the brand new Honda GCVx engine they are now fitting to most new mowers the crankshaft is alot easier to remove the compared to the old GCV engine and you don't even need to remove the engine off the deck. Honda have designed the new engine like a two stroke engine so sections can be removed and replaced easily.
Hey from Canada Mick. Got introduced to you by watching Taryl videos. Really enjoy your work! Finally subscribed. I know this video is 3yrs old but i have a question - do you use any kind of assembly lube when doing this? Ir do you hav another method of lubricating parts prior to the first start-up?
Hi Mick question for you I have a petrol strimmer i put it away leaning against the shed wall went in a couple of days later and its leaking petrol could not find the leak put it back and noticed its leaking through the exhaust all the petrol was in the engine emptied it runs ok have come across this before. love the vids
Had something similar on a Stihl MS180 chainsaw and turned out to be the tank breather blocked. Once tank had pressure kept feeding fuel into the carb-cylinder-exhaust-air box. Maybe as a start Check your tank breather is working. This may be through the cap or have a separate breather tube out of the tank depending on the strimmer you have.
@@themowerman Hi Mick did what you said . It starts revs then dies does the carb have a rubber o ring on the back.if I move governor shaft halve way it screams it's head off thanks Mike I Don't want to be a pain cheers
Im digging the lift set up. Ive got a 6 1/4 with a badly bent shaft. Never done that in my life or sheared a pin till i hit 51 years of age. It instantly turned into a tiller. Some ass clown put cross ties in for a makeshift flower bed and secured them with re bar but didnt bother to drive the rods down flush with the wood. I turned to continue cutting in the opposite direction and clipped the 2" tall 3/4" diameter rebar and thats all she wrote. Why didnt the key shear or the hub break? From what i understand the hub breaking off is the new shear key safety device. Curious how much is a new shaft? 38.00 you just answered my ? Thanks
Hey Mick, good on ya for taking the high road ,even for content it was worth while...great production on the vid, onward to part two and many more vids to come...lots of comments I see...some interesting ones😉😆😆😆...cheers bud...
As a newbie and probably being a skinny guy not so strong as you, I will take the head piston of as well to can push back the piston more easily Tell me if o am wrong Cheers
No need to take the top plate off only making work for yourself, actually it leaves you somewhere to balance the engine on mate, where did you source the new crank from ??
Phil, with the blade turning in excess of 3,000rpm, contact with just about anything solid will cause this. A root, a stone or some other unseen obstacle. The blade hits, then glances off the obstruction often bending the shaft and blade in the process. Simple diagnosis is, the mower starts vibrating badly. Most crank shafts can be straitened and blades replaced, but sometimes, a crank replacement is needed. Cheers! Zip~
Some lawn mower dealers or spares providers can help as long as you quote the serial numbers, usually the F0 number is the one that works. Just be warned the old Qualcast mowers that were built by Bosch are starting to have shortages in parts now as Bosch don't supply the parts anymore. Allett mowers now sell the old Qualcast bosch design cylinder mowers but some parts have been changed in design so they might not be compatible with the old mowers. The new Qualcast mowers are not related to Qualcast at all as they are a Chinese mower with Qualcast stamped on them.
@@themowerman WHY DOES PEOPLE KEEP SAYING THAT ? YOU DID IT THE RIGHT WAY & IT WAS A GREAT VID. AN ENGINE COSTS MORE THAN THAT CRANK. FOR SURE. PLUS YOU MADE MONEY OFF THE VID. GOOD JOB SIR, Henry from PA.
