I never understand these 'not sponsored but I've been given an xyz' type of videos. And with an affiliate link. The original GO 3 had 45/170 minutes of recording time, so 32/122 minutes is quite a big drop!
Thanks Luke! You're the first person to mention that the 3s is not only compatible with the old Action Pod but that it's also sold separately. That'll save me a few bucks.
I just checked their website and the stand alone camera only cost $240 for the 64GB or $270 for the 128GB camera. For only $30 more I would definitely go for the 128GB myself
Thanks for talking about the freeframe limitations.
Unfortunately, I like that I can change the aspect ratio in post. So freeframe is what I use on my go 3. Looking at your samples, it's a hard no.

I watched a ton of videos on go3s today, and you’re the only one explained about the freeframe mode. I thought that go3s doesn’t have this function anymore.

Can you retain the widest field of view if you enable horizon lock but lower the resolution to 2.7k? Or is the field of view lower with horizon lock, no matter the resolution?

I would just get the 3s and keep the pod with the Go3. So I can use both cameras and put each one in the pod to load -> but what about the settings, are they stored in the respective camera?Thanks for your cool video!
Glad you enjoyed the video! I just checked and yes if you switch the cameras, the action pod also switches to whatever camera settings It was on when that camera was last in it and seamlessly switch back-and-forth. it will also instantly connect to whatever camera you put in the action pod, You don't even have to turn it off first.

The focus is way to far, for vlogging you look out of focus, the field of views is narrow now and I hope they have a flat profile because the over sharpness is crazy. It's a hard pass for me.

Hi, based on your review, does the narrower field of view in go 3S occur because you shot in 4K? Would it be the same field of view if with lower resolutions, like from go 3?
No, it will be cropped, regardless of what resolution you set it to. just to be clear, the field of view is just as wide in the regular video mode as the old GO 3 it’s only when switching to horizon lock mode or portrait mode that it crops in
what's the sensor size? in free form mode what is the highest resolution export settings? and does it overheat?

I bought 3S but returning it for GO 3 since 3S is a downgrade imo since I'll rather have wider view and more options for free frame mode, also longer battery life. Thanks for this video, great content!

Do you know, if you have the Go3 action pod and use the Go3s camera, will both the go3 and go3s work with the action pod after the firmware is updated? Or does it essentially make your Go3 useless?
It will work with both and even seamlessly switches between them. which ever camera you put in the action It will automatically connect to, and it even saves the settings from the last time you had that specific camera in the pod.

They should sell it without the box. In a version that charges with usb. For half current price because it's kind of mediocre if you watch videos that are non sponsored for real.
You are not in focus when in go 3s. Good to have but not a must have. Another product for gullible consumers. Another gadget that will life more complicated. One question though, what is the video file format?

Just for clarification the camera only has 128GB of internal storage. The SD card goes into the quick reader and then the quick reader downloads the videos from the camera.
@@LukeEdwin what excites me about that is when I'm on a vacation recording a lot. At the end of the day if I have to transfer everything to my phone. It's slow wirelessly, chews up my phone and camera battery, and fills my phones storage. However if I could pop it in that case at the low in the day, clean the camera off, and then have it basically on a thumb drive I can either edit off of or take right to a computer. That saves so much headache. And gets my camera back ready to shoot like right away. I'm curious what the max size sd card it'll take, and if I export multiple days does it append or format each time? Thinking I could shoot a whole trip and dump it to the card. Then edit later.
Really enjoyed your overview of the camera. I noticed colors seemed more vibrant on the 3S vs the 3. Were they shot on the same color profile? or was one on vivid and another on standard?
