@@ZealandonYT Zea, make one video on a team that has good players but average tactics and one that has average players but good tactics please 🙏. I wanna see it 😔
My worst fm'ing was in the Italian cup against ac Milan. I lost 1 0. I had 23 shots with 13 on target. They had 0 shots and 0 on target. Their only goal was from my keeper kicking the ball into the head of my defender and scoring an own goal.

The goalkeeper situation drives me nuts. I have a world-class keeper who you'd be forgiven for thinking he's blind. More often than not, he only faces a couple of shots and he'll let one in or even both. Meanwhile at the other end, the opposition keeper who stat-wise, isn't fit to clean my keeper's boots, is leaping around like a salmon saving EVERYTHING and ends up MOM.
Literally the first game I play in FM today after watching this video, I go up against a team with that low block 4-5-1 formation, and it's 0-0 at half time, even though I'm in control and they don't have a shot on target. I applied some of the tips from this video (both FBs on attack, less direct play, play out wide instead of through the middle) and it worked! One goal from a cross from a fullback, and then a through-ball through the middle because their defense was stretched out. 10/10

Marshall, and Jason Segal in general, is the best! So that's pretty decent.. You also have shades of Jim from The Office, mate. Love you Zee, loved the intro T&C's
Drop your lines back and turn off the offside trap. You are likely too compressed and don't have any way to generate space against teams with 10 guys back. Also turn on early crosses and turn off counter, consider regroup if they are cutting you open with over the top balls. Make sure you can build up play, turn off pass into space.
Don't sleep on the 'stay back if needed' instruction as a safety measure on set pieces. I always have one set to do that in addition to the standard pair on 'stay back'. If the opposition leave two men forward, I have three men to defend against counters. If they only leave one forward, I have an extra man in the box, essentially on the 'get forward' instruction that most people would probably have him on anyway!
I feel like working the ball into the box doesn't work against low-blocks, your players just run into a wall. I just untick it and leave more options open for shooting from range and early crossing
From what ive seen in this fm, work ball into the box is only useful if you have extremely good players, otherwise u ticking it is the best idea, my midtable teams are incredible without it
Video idea: how to set up your team to counter/exploit common opposition formations. Like e.g. what's the best way to nullify a 4231 and what spaces should you be looking to overload
i also find team fluidity is important to consider, usually i find against low blocks being structured works much better, especially as this usually just means changing some support duties to attack. Being fluid against low block teams seems like your players are trying to find space where there isn't any, where as with structured players don't roam around and the ball is progressed more as you instructe. Also: if you're a team looking to mke the next step, getting elite center backs is huge, i just had a summer transfer window where i did this and now i hardly ever concede a shot on target
I watch for the intros and stay for the ads (never thought I’d say that about an ad) . The ad on this and 20 Good Minutes podcast with Ben Carr are both priceless. One day we will need a compilation vid of just ads. 😂🤣
one additional thing that is very important and maybe was only hinted at here is this: Tired players make more mistakes. Especially if you're playing some varity of gegenpress and your guys are sprinting around the pitch like Roadrunner, come 70/80 minutes you're going to see some guys who are dead on their feet. if you're playing a high pressure tactic i've found Fresh legs make a massive differance late on.
Extra advantage of the more controlling tactic once you are ahead. It should be lower intensity so it keeps your players condition higher. I generally have that one as my second or third tactic pre loaded, including the set pieces. And yeah the main focus is not let's go defensive it's much more focus on retaining possession and slowing the game down. My rule of thumb for when to switch is 90 mins - (goal difference -1) x 10). Also always leave a third sub for extra time if you can. In case of injuries or in order to waste time with the sub.
@@nickfury8973 Yeah depending on the FM and my mood its just - goal difference x10 so even if 1-0 up, I do that in the 80th. For me it is lower tempo, more disciplined, no risky passes on everyone and max time wasting, plus more defensive set pieces. And move some players back a little/ change roles.
@@Hyde_Hill I will play double DM and lower the lines. But I don’t move my attacking setup because i want to keep pressure on and counter attack if there is an opportunity.
One more tip that I learned recently: every time the opposition makes a sub, don't forget to opposition instrctions (can I make it a verb though) him. Recently I was playing against Man Utd, dominating the match, then they brought on a regen with 19 dribbling, 18 acceleration/pace and whatever against my wing back on attack. Two plays later and I got knocked out of the Carabao Cup (who cares about it though lmao). Valuable lesson learned.
my only problem with extended highlights is how many times you have to watch your players shoot the ball straight into a defender two feet ahead of them. If that could get toned down a bit (I don't mean the incidents, I know it happens a lot in real life, I just mean the amount of times I have to see it per game on extensive highlights) then I'd be more inclined to watch increased highlight options.
Good tips. But yeah, we’ll all continue to get FMed anyway because it’s programmed into the game. When you’re running away with your league, FM manipulates results against you. That’s just the way it is. It’s still easy to win the league most seasons, despite FM trying to slow us down.
In the first half of this video, before the ad, you talk about being FM’ed but I totally saw that situation irl in the final game of the Euros. I think this happens irl more often than you think.
I have never seen a formation like that. One of the key attributes is decisions. I like my players smarter than I am and with a great assistant manager, I can spend most of the match day watching UA-cam videos. Seriously, smart players with 15+ decisions which come from mentoring from a few smart old duffers in the B team or wherever.
Best way to keep a lead is to keep possession 😊, pass the ball a lot towards the end of the game and set the play for set pieces instruction, you might as well as get another goal towards the end.
Getting FM'd is no big deal. It happens in real life as well. São Paulo x Grêmio in Copa do Brasil 2020. São Paulo had almost 80% of ball possession and 20+ shots on goal. Grêmio had a single shot in the entire match. Grêmio won 1x0 and qualified for the final.
Top tip: update your opposition instructions when they make a substitution. That 19 year old 4 star advanced forward wonder kid with 19 finishing and 17 accelerationthat you were tightly marking, had now been replaced 32 year old 20 shot dude who just kills it from outside the box. Update your instructions!
Dominating the match with 1-0. 90+2 opponent scores 1-1 90+6 opponent scores 1-2 And there are no goal replays, its just text. This happens to me once every couple seasons or so

Same 👍 Add it because my area have power failure sometimes, I have four saves on a single play (pre-match, post match, midweek 1 & 2). My brother once saved, & during saving, a power failure happened & making that save corrupted.
I have a Brighton save and I was in the quarter finals of the carabao cup vs villa. 21 shots (16 on target) compared to their 3 shots (2 on target) 2-1 😐
In fm 21, I had a brighton save, was gunning for the title. 4 games left as we face 19th place West Brom. Vlasic scored and we went one nil up. Pappeti toes sliding in on Diangana and Cyle Larin scores the pen. 35 shots later the game ended 1-1 with Trossard hitting the post twice. Brighton Shots: 35 Brighton Shots on target: 16 West Brom Shots: 2 West Brom Shots on target: 1 We placed second by 4 points after our momentum was ruined
Sometimes i can accept getting fm'd is a natural part of the game, after playing for 15 years. HOWEVER SOMETIMES THE GAME IS JUST TAKING THE PISS!! when you get fm'd with absolute BS 4 games in a row
I was just the other team in Champions League with a swedish team (Djurgården) beating Atletico Madrid with 1-0... having 2 shots on goal, and they having 15 on goal... FM karma restored
If I can’t score I have 4 formations in 4gameplans cannot score plan winning plan drawing plan and park the bus with 8 players at the back for last 20 minutes
Zealand - It's the 80th minute, you're up 1-0 and your 4* playmaker is getting pretty tired: would you rather sub him for a fresh 2* player or keep him on and trade his fatigue for skills he has?
All the tips mentioned in the video made sense, so I tried them in my next game as I was dominating, but just couldn't break them down. I got FM'd and beaten 1-0 with their only shot on target.
@@ZealandonYT I just laughed at the end of the match! I've since had another couple of matches where I've had the same problem, however in those following the advice in the video worked perfectly and we won. I've dropped quite a few points to matches like those described in the video in the past, so to come away with wins is real progress.
The worst I’ve had on FM2022 so far is 25 -5 shots with only 3 of their shots on target. I lost 3-2…I also had 2 goals disallowed and their winning goal was penalty…I am NOT joking. A close 2nd though was a 29-7 game. 3.70 - 0.56 xG. I lost 3-1 which also included me missing a penalty and having a goal disallowed. I have photos of both of these results which is why I know the exact stats
I've read a good guide somewhere, that there's a logic behind it. The more your team controlled the match, the tighter the opponents organized their defences. So, to combat that: lower the pressing, decrease the offensiveness level, in order to give the opponent more room to breathe, and loosen their defenses. Works wonder for me. Felt contradictive a bit, yes. But that's some reverse logics behind it.
I tend to find that a physical outball is important when trying to shut up shop. Either a target striker/wide targetman or a pacey forward/winger. 1 or 2 of those will ensure opposition cannot happily flood your box with players.
Or jus don't. Like Zealand showed to a degree its not about parking the bus, much more about controlling possession and slowing the pace down if you are the better side. It depends on the skills of your team in general and vis a vis the opposition.
How much do training rating and Form impact your decisions on who to start? I guess what I'm asking is ...Do these stats actually carry bonuses/penalties into a match? Or are they just after-the-fact statistics that don't influence future performance?
Got recommended this video immediately after watching oriental dragons lose 5-1 with an xg advantage on the final match day of the promotion play-offs (first season of save).

Considering you were Brighton, that sounds pretty realistic
In fm 21, I had a brighton save, was gunning for the title. 4 games left as we face 19th place West Brom. Vlasic scored and we went one nil up. Pappeti toes sliding in on Diangana and Cyle Larin scores the pen. 35 shots later the game ended 1-1 with Trossard hitting the post twice.
Brighton Shots: 35
Brighton Shots on target: 16
West Brom Shots: 2
West Brom Shots on target: 1
We placed second by 4 points after our momentum was ruined
Sometimes i can accept getting fm'd is a natural part of the game, after playing for 15 years. HOWEVER SOMETIMES THE GAME IS JUST TAKING THE PISS!! when you get fm'd with absolute BS 4 games in a row
My worst fming was when in season 1 with West Ham against man united.
I had 31 shots, 16 on target and lost 1-0
I was just the other team in Champions League with a swedish team (Djurgården) beating Atletico Madrid with 1-0... having 2 shots on goal, and they having 15 on goal... FM karma restored
How about a video on chasing goals wheb down near the end of the game?
Bet Gareth Southgate wishes he'd heard 16:04 before Sunday.
I just watched this video and an hour later for fm'd. I'm about to cry.
Can we see some testing of manscape products on your chest? Just a suggestion? Give the people what they want!
For me, I would sub him for a center back and use a defensive 5-3-2
All the tips mentioned in the video made sense, so I tried them in my next game as I was dominating, but just couldn't break them down.
I got FM'd and beaten 1-0 with their only shot on target.
The most FM thing I’ve ever heard, I cite the disclaimer at the beginning of the video
@@ZealandonYT I just laughed at the end of the match!
I've since had another couple of matches where I've had the same problem, however in those following the advice in the video worked perfectly and we won. I've dropped quite a few points to matches like those described in the video in the past, so to come away with wins is real progress.
Is 1:06 a how i met your mother reference?
Fm'd since 1999. 20 mouses and 30 keyboards destroyed
Great video, but there's no way to maintain sanity playing FM...
10:57 top quality ASMR.
HIMYM reference? Didn't expect to see that here of all places
I remember you at 9k followers....you're now on 121k....you smashed it 👌🏾👌🏾
16:21 England in the Euros final
That intro was legendary 🤣
If only Deschamps listened to that advices...
@@Hyde_Hill i am rarely the better side. 🤣🤣
A quick powerful counter and lucky breaks can kill off games too. 🥰
@@finding_aether Ah yeah in those situations then indeed that is more the shut up shop style indeed and then maybe counter.
Play narrow. Pass into space and Standard/Direct passing coupled with 2-3 fast attacking players.
I refuse to enter the shell at all. I'd rather win 4-3 or end up with a 3-3 draw than end up losing like England did vs Italy.

Manscaped: A great gift for a woman you'd rather not see again.
Zealand respect to you to put in big the #AD. Really love when creators to this. They dont try to make it seem like it isnt a ad. Thanks zealand!
How much do training rating and Form impact your decisions on who to start?
I guess what I'm asking is ...Do these stats actually carry bonuses/penalties into a match? Or are they just after-the-fact statistics that don't influence future performance?
How do you stop your striker missing 100 shots and the opposition gk turning into prime Dino zoff
Could you make a video on substitutions? Idk how those work best :)
yes recently lost my job because of this 1 one month after coming 3rd in the world cup with Australia 3 days to late :(
Well done, sir!
Got recommended this video immediately after watching oriental dragons lose 5-1 with an xg advantage on the final match day of the promotion play-offs (first season of save).
*proceeds to get Fm'd*
