NieR Replicant - Song of the Ancients / Devola [Soundtrack Re-creation] ft. SOLARIA
Вставка
- Опубліковано 30 гру 2022
- 'Song of the Ancients' originally composed by Keiichi Okabe (MONACA) & Emi Evans.
Aural transcription & arrangement for virtual instruments by Timothy Richards.
An arrangement combining elements from both ‘Gestalt’ & ‘Replicant ver.1.2247’.
As a big fan of Yoko Taro games and their soundtracks, I had previously transcribed a few of my favourite pieces. I hadn't considered uploading them as I had no way of replicating the vocal performances which are a hugely important part of their sound.
However, earlier last year I came across Solaria; a vocal synthesiser bank for SynthV by Eclipsed Sounds. After getting to sit down and spend some time playing with it, I decided to see how closely it could replicate Emi Evans' Chaos language.
Please note chord midi data has been removed and vocal midi is represented an octave higher for visual clarity.
Enjoy!

I had legitimately no idea the vocals weren’t a real person before I read the comments. This is fantastic and makes me wanna go play nier again
The use of tech here genuinely blows my mind; you are a master at this.
I knew Synth V is pretty amazing especially when it comes to how close it sounds to an actually human being but HOLY COW! You did such an amazing job I wouldn't have known if I didn't read the description. This recreation is just absolutely beautiful. Will be looking forward to your future works! ❤
I had no clue vocal VSTs could sound this real. Awesome job man!
Best version of this song I've heard so far. Clean, thorough and detailed. Nothing can hold a candle to this.
Fantastic transcription! I had no idea vocal libraries were THIS good at recreating vocals. Bravo!
just when i restarted playing this game you pull out the song of the ancients. awesome stuff again!
nunca iria saber que não era uma pessoa cantando ta perfeito de mais
You are absolutely brilliant, your work is stunning as always Timothy!! You're the only channel on youtube i have turned the notification on bell for.
wow
Wow. Timothy, what’s your background in music? Your ability to transcribe is exceptional.
amazing! I enjoy this as much as the original.
Also I'm very curious what VSTs are you using for the sounds in the ending section? Specifically the haunting ethereal pad-like ones - like in the 4:24-4:28 section before the bell hit, or at 4:38, where there's some higher/sharper pad playing the B flat and a lower/duller one playing a C? I see you've listed things in the description but I can't quite figure out the ones being used in that section. I've been searching for sounds like these for ages and would really appreciate any help. Thanks!
Thank you so much! The ending section is comprised of all the libraries listed under the "Percussion" & "misc" subheadings.
I should add the "pad" you mention at 4:24 is just the reverb tail of the very end (4:56) printed, reversed and stuck in front.
@@timothyjamesrichards thanks so much - this is super helpful
For the vocal VST did you use the airy preset for solaria, also would you mind sharing what you used on your vocal fx chain? I’ve been playing around with the vst a bit but cant get it to sound nearly as good as how it sounds in this video
IIRC I used the "soft" mode for Solaria in SynthV. No special treatment regarding processing. I treated it the same as any other ordinary vocal!
Wow..i have never played this game, but this track sounds awesome. Is the voice real or a VST? When yes, what is the name of this plugin? :)
Highly recommend the Nier franchise, all of the music is amazing! The vocals are made in a program called Synthesizer V by Dreamtonics.
@@timothyjamesrichards It sounds so real. The music seems to be amazing😆👍
in the description he mentions it's "Synthesizer V" with the Solaria voice pack
