I own two Mark III blue stripes. One is simulcast DRGX the other 100/60 HRGX. Prefer the non Simulcast it’s more in your face. The III continues on the same lineage as the 2C+ more so than the IV IMHO. Very underrated amp.
i prefer the triaxis models myself. the lead 2 modes in the triaxis have the treble shift and the pull shift (fat) on by default and i think they're a bit easier to dial in. i also owned a triaxis for years, so i'm probably a little biased.
my personal II-B is really a different beast.. and I love it of course.. but I've often wondered how the II-C+ would have been through all those hard rock and hair metal years.. but alas Simul Class and the II-C+ came out about a year or so after I bought my II-B direct from Randall and his team in Petaluma circa early 80s.. it's nice to see you bonding so well with the FAS Mesa Boogie amp models sir.. keep it up please!

Yessssss, the tone at the end is awesome. However, sometimes the tones sound a bit like the guitar has the volume knob turned down to 5. It doesn't seem to have the "balls". It could be that the gain on the fractal is at like 5, or because there's hardly any bass. Perhaps the lack of a bass in a band/recording mix is ideal but if I had a fractal, I'd be curious to know what it's like with the gain on 10 and bass about 2-3 o'clock. I really need to buy a fractal. It's just so damn expensive and no power amp or expression pedal included! hehe! You rock Leon!
Man, I’ve got a MK V 35 combo from a few months ago and the 5 band eq. is the main thing to sculpt the tone. From savage Metal to Americana rock-folk styles, it beats the rest !!! So, I’ve got an AXFX III mark II too and depending on the gig, I go with the combo and pedals or with the Fractal.
I have an ‘86 Mk3 purple 60w, reverb and no GEQ that I love but some days it just seems off. I also have the synergy 2cp but it doesn’t sound as full as my mk3 😢. Wish the AxeFX 3 had a mk3 version
The first boogies were modified Fender Princetons so it's probably just building on the same core principle. Pretty sure Princetons, and most old Fenders, have the tonestack up front.

There's no magic formula but "cut bass/boost mids before gain stages and boost bass/cut mids after gain stages" works pretty well for what you're after
I'm a IIC++ guy for life! Just some little bit of fairy dust in that particular variant that makes it hit the spot for me. The Mark sound in general always reminds me of Slipknot's Clown hitting a beer keg with his baseball bat. Poof!
What Mark series amp (model or real amp) is your favourite?
IIC++ model for me is metal heaven. Slightly easier to dial in than the standard models too.
Never owned any real amps, but my favorite Mesa in the FM9 USA Lead Mid Gain 🤘

Did mesa ever explain why they decided to make the EQ of these amps so un-intuitive? I don't know of any other amp that does this.
