To be a IT giant we need to increase this 7lakh sqft to a minimum of 25 lakh next year. Fingers crossed. with new tech parks, data centers and big offices in AA3 and Fintech hub, we can surpass 25 lakh also....

Sector 5, Newtown e max companies offer BPO, entry level jobs with meagre salaries, which is why even if new companies open office in Kolkata most Graduates, Post Gradutes go to Bangalore, Mumbai etc. West Bengal doesn't lack jobs. It lacks quality employment. A lot of people earn 10-20k monthly here but very few get 1lakh/2lakhs + monthly. This trend is actually making Bengal poorer each day because the outside market is growing at 10x speed with higher FDI inflows.
This trend effects lower middle class or lower class the most, which is why Political parties always brainwash this section.

its all good but why FAANGM companies don't prefer Kolkata as their investment destination? why are we only centric about small cap and mid cap companies coming to invest us? why isn't the govt approaching them to invest, Bengaluru has 3 google offices and we have none? so is it going to stay the same forever? is this the overall potential of Kolkata, which stands as an emerging IT city? is that it?

Time lagbe.... We are at stage where Bangalore was in 1997-1998 wrt IT. May be 2011-12 of Pune or 2009-10 of Gurugram.
Bangalore has a readymade IT workforce. A FAANGM level company needs confidence in the talent ecosystem to open an office. Kolkata will take another 7-10 years to build that eco system.

@@Scythe6140 not really 7 to 10 years is not really a large time window .. keeping in mind, the amount of opportunity increase in Kolkata in last 2 years, we may see a better ecosystem in, let's says 4-5 years.
See, a company first opens an office in a city, start with an experienced team (poached or people willing to relocate) and then when in next 1-2 years start recruiting freshers, those freshers need 2-3 years to gain industry relevant experience. Then only an ecosystem starts forming.
There is no presence of Google Microsoft and Oracle in kolkata which are essentially required to be opened to compete with Bangalore and Hyderabad
Oracle has office in kolkata and will scale from 20 now to hundreds in 2024 as per internal discussion

If Bengal wants to develop first the political violence has to reduce , open any Bengali news channel all the time people are debating , if within Bengal people debates so much how will team Bengal develop. The other problem I have seen is extra aggression which should reduce and people become more nimble for change.
