I adore it when he writes "for not being there" then changes it "for what happened". He was there!!! Little things like this are so pretty and significant
This email was a turning point in the movie. I holds the keys to the drama this point forward. He decided to keep her instead of dumping her, he started being humble instead of arrogant, he defined the problem that he was the enemy so he worked on being a friend in real life, and that she didn't trust him so he worked on gaining her trust, and he confronted himself that he was actually the one to blame for it all.... And finally he planned to fight to win her so that their next blind date she will find a trustworthy intimate friend instead. Isn't it just amazing how many hidden messages it included !
If your apology can change everything that had happened in the past, restore everything i had lost, completely get rid my trauma, anxiety and depression i suffered, then your apology is accepted. If your apology cannot make all these changes, no use of forgiving.
That's a terribly harsh standard. No one can reverse time and make it so that pain was never inflicted. The best they can do is acknowledge that they have wronged you and to ask your forgiveness. Sincere and honest apologies are like water in the desert. It's wise to accept them on the rare occasion they're offered.
Forgiveness is something you do for yourself more than the other person, whether they apologize or not. Took me a very long time to learn that. I'm not diminishing your experiences. I share them and I know how hard it can be. Forgiveness doesn't mean you didn't have a right to be angry in the first place, and it doesn't mean you have to be friends. But forgiveness can't change the past. Forgiveness changes *your* *present.* It unburdens you from the anger that weighs you down more than you know. It's true what they say, hanging onto resentment is like drinking the poison and hoping the other person will die.
Not sincere. My 3 year old niece, when she apologises she really mean it. You must see the way she apologise. She puts her two palms together, tilt her head and say sorry in a pathetic voice. Any devils heart can melt. The next step is how to make friends.

Apologies have nothing to do with forgiveness. Forgiveness is not required post-apology.
