    Thanks for the review. I’m a 51 yr old man playing seriously for since April of 24 and I bought a 19oz Tai Bai maple cue that came with a case & glove for $80. I put a Predator Victory tip on it and it was a great starter cue that didn’t break the bank. I took some of my Christmas bonus and got a Cuetec Avid Opt-X Florian Kohler cue and it’s awesome. Thanks for all you do

      Nice! Good idea on changing the tip, it's a great (and not too costly) way to make a good upgrade to a cue. Hope you're enjoying your AVID! 👍

    I have to blue matte finished version of this cue in 20 ounce that I have been using for few months now. I tried bending the tip to see if has that flex you were showing and my was difficult to flex that much. Weight of the cue could be a factor on the tip flex. The shaft finish on the one I have is even and no defects. Mine is smooth without wearing a glove for about 30 minutes or so of playing. Definitely wearing a glove is best for this cue , same with carbon fiber shaft and maple with poly coating on it. Unfinished maple is my first choice if going gloveless. I have used my GSE cue during some of my local league matches and won a few using it. I also have an Aska L9 in 20 ounce that I use most of the time and it is liked by people that I let use it. I break and play with the same cue that I decide to use for my matches or practice.

      Thank you for sharing your experiences! You are the second person here to mention that the blue version in heavier weights are stiffer than our green review model, not sure about that but anything is possible!! Glad you are enjoying your GSE! 👍👍

    I love these types of videos and your layout of video! Great quality and informative. Seems like every pool video or review needs to be 5 minutes or less. I enjoy the longer more thorough reviews. I also would love for you test out tips on the same cue to see tiger Everest tips, thoroughbred tips in medium soft,milk dud tips, g2 medium tip, and Caiden fighter tips in either medium or soft.

    It was ok for a first time cue of mine. I had a black 18 oz and a green 21 oz.
    Eventually I upgraded to Cuetec and a Z shaft from Predator.
    I gave the black one away eventually and the shaft was super warped when I spun it on a pocket lathe. 😂

    Good video but I'm still super confused: am I supposed to buy screw on tips or is the wooden tip it came with all Im supposed to hit the ball with? Doesn't seem like it can be chalked by itself. But there is no place to screw in a tip?

    • @AverageJoesPool
      @AverageJoesPool  2 місяці тому

      It comes with a leather tip already installed, you do not need to buy a separate tip. The tips on these are glue-on (not screw on). Hope that helps! 👍

    Using this exact cue model in 21oz blue. Very little wobble and extremely stiff. Tip feels hard to medium. I use this cue is used for breaking only. Better than any off the wall cues at any pool/ billiards clubs. I won’t be crying about it if I inadvertently leave it behind lost either.

    Need recomendation of cue for 100-140. Im thinking off a mcdermott lucky or a fury ty knight
    Viking valhalla isnt available in my country
    Some of my thoughts are the mcdermot is at 150 ish the one available is the one with decals that is 60$ more expensive thatln the normal one while the fury is at 120 with low deflection.

    • @AverageJoesPool
      @AverageJoesPool  4 місяці тому

      We don't have any experience of the Fury Ty Knight, but the Valhalla's are excellent, and we'll be reviewing the Lucky by McDermott soon.
      Have you tried buying a Valhalla from Amazon.com with International Shipping? Amazon.com ship all over the world, and shipping is very reasonable. Might be an option if you cannot buy one locally? Hope that helps 👍

    a good cue you recomend from amazon? 50-200$ range?

    • @AverageJoesPool
      @AverageJoesPool  4 місяці тому

      Hey there! Firstly, that's quite a big price range! A good place to start would likely be the Valhalla which falls pretty much in the middle of your budget, see it here: ua-cam.com/video/_9Auq6how2A/v-deo.html You may also want to take a look at STAR by McDermott (ua-cam.com/video/b8d3cpMF2c8/v-deo.html) which are a touch over budget but great cues, and also the LUCKY by McDermott which is a strong competitor for the Valhalla (review coming soon). If you want to be nearer to $50, then the Aska L2 and Viper Underground Series are good for the money (as outlined in this video). Hope that helps 👍

    Because of your recommendation … I bought the Valhalla by Viking. I know this is off topic but does it take time to ‘break in’ / ‘get used to’ a new cue? I’m a complete newbie but noticed I was doing much better with the crappy cue in my apartment complex. Thanks so much.

    • @puboh
      @puboh 4 місяці тому +1

      yes, you need get used to every new cue

    • @AverageJoesPool
      @AverageJoesPool  4 місяці тому

      Yes, absolutely it does take time to adjust, and different cues can have very different feels and characteristics. This is one of the key reasons why we always give new products at least 5 hours testing before formulating an opinion, because using a new cue for 15-20 minutes just does not give the time to get properly tuned in to the characteristics of the cue. Stick with it, you'll dial it in 👍

      It depends what you consider not expensive I guess, but one our channel you'll find reviews for the Valhalla 100 Series, ASKA L2/L3, and also coming soon Viper Underground Series. Those are all solid cues in their respective price brackets, and you'll find the video reviews on our channel. Hope that helps 👍

      If you're in the UK, try the Amazon USA link in the Video Description. They can ship most items to the UK, and the shipping is very cheap too. Often much cheaper to buy USA pool equipment from Amazon.com and ship to the UK than buying in the UK. Hope that helps! 👍

    • @AverageJoesPool
      @AverageJoesPool  9 днів тому

      You can buy pool cues from $30-$1000+ on Amazon from some of the biggest names in the business. And you'll get free (and hassle-free!) returns on Amazon if there's an immediate issue with the cue, i.e. 30 days (beyond that it's covered by whatever warranty the manufacturer provides, and must thereafter be returned to the manufacturer). So the idea of buying a cue on Amazon is far from crazy as you'll get the best 30 day return policy out there (and free!). However, the craziness part may entirely depend on what cue it is that you're actually buying of course! 👍
