Toyota's hybrids are some of the best cars on the road. If Mazda was going to partner with anyone because they don't have the resources to develop their own hybrid, Toyota was the one to partner with. This looks nicer than a RAV4 and I'd definitely consider this over a RAV4.
Purchased the preferred (base) model a few days ago. It has everything I need, anything else is wants. With some negotiation and trade in, got it for slightly under msrp. Love it so far.
Will be looking into this one next year. Seems best of both worlds, with Toyota's Hybrid System and they have been at this for 20 plus years so the kinks have been long worked out, with Mazda driving dynamics and styling which are the two strongest aspects of the CX50-Starting price is competitive with other Hybrid CUVs so I think Mazda will have a winner here. If the 26 CX5 update comes with an available hybrid (rumored to be one Mazda is doing in house) then I will check that out as well.
This car better sell incredibly well, its exactly what people want. a stylish reliable awd hybrid 2 row suv, its like every trait that "normal" consumers care about
I don't think Mazda will be able to keep up production, especially since the powertrain is 100% reliant on Toyota supplying it. Dealers will eventually mark these up to high heaven
I've had 3 Toyotas with CVTs, and while each successive one got marginally better, they still fell far short when I needed to accelerate quickly out of a tricky situation.
The Mazda uses an E-CVT, not a CVT. An E-CVT is physically different than any conventional push belt CVT. Toyota eCVT is the simplest most reliable transmission without any wear parts.
The starting price of the CX-50 hybrid is just way too high. Pretty much any gas savings are obliterated. What we really need is a fairly priced CX-30 hybrid with either the Corolla Cross hybrid system or a Mazda system but either way, something around $30k is much more compelling and the CX-30 really needs more range.
Same here. 😂😂 I’m hoping to retire in another five or six years, so my CX 50 will be paid off by then. hate to start over with new payments just to get a hybrid.🤷♀️
I believe if you are going to buy a Mazda then buy a car that was actually made by them. The CX-5 is better car overall especially for QUALITY, though some might prefer the CX-50 feature set.
@ i had one as a loaner while my car was in the shop. A 22 cx-30. Wasnt touch screen at all. I guess i didnt like it because i was just used to a full touch screen
@@Scoobawoo I work at a Mazda dealership. No Mazda today has a touch screen. The other commenter is wrong. The only way you control the screen is with the dial and buttons on the console. BTW, of all the Mazda's, the CX30 is the worst followed by the Mazda 3 hatch. Terrible vehicles.
I work at a Mazda dealer. I won't buy one. The fact that Mazda forces everyone to take AWD is a joke and that they offer zero EV's is worse yet. The final icing on the cake is that they jumped into bed with Toyota, so yeah. That sealed the deal that I will NEVER buy one under any circumstances. So now Mazda is all proud that they have just introduced a "HYBRID" in late 2024 and they think that's good? Huge pass. Just like Toyota, as the EV world passes them by, I will wave gladly into my rear view mirror.
@@danielchampion2982 Why? Or maybe I don't want to even hear this. I drive a Chevy Bolt EV. A superior car to anything Mazda sells today. I drive many of the vehicles to drop them off since I work in the fleet department. So I have a ton of wheel time in Mazda's. The nice thing? Every day after driving them and I get back into my Bolt EV, it reinforces my good decision to go EV.
Toyota's hybrids are the best hybrids you can buy. They're some of the best cars you can buy. Not everyone is ready for EV and hybrids are an important bridge. This isn't a sports car, there's no downside to AWD.

IMO great collab - the best of Toyota underneath the best of Mazda!

@@Unchainedmaple888No they won’t. 🤣🤣

i feel the same way even with some of the economy dct hyundais
Did you ever have any of their hybrids ? Those are not regular CVT.

Base model works for me. When my 2016 CX5 dies the CX50 hybrid will be my next car
Good morning i enjoyed watching your video take care
wondering if it is worth waiting for Mazda hybrid CX5
Wins the prize for the best pointless car on the market today.
Why is it pointless? It’s one of Mazdas best selling models now with a hybrid for better fuel economy.

It’s almost the same price as the rav 4 hybrid at comparable trim levels
@@davidpinilla5150 It lacks a true base model. Even if the trim levels are comparable, the starting price is still too high
Hey! That's the same press car that @savagegeese used 😂😂
So it's just a Rav 4 heart with a much better Body? I'm down
Too expensive, preffered show $32k max
wanna pay my current CX50 off now and get this

Go into a lot debt to save some money on gas, makes sense...
No lane centering. Bummer.

i cant get over it now, they lowered the roofline where my head is so i hit it in the cx50 but not the cx5
only thing i hate about mazda is the knob used for the infotainment. its kinda clunky when trying to be on car play while driving
Really? I have no problem with mine on my CX 50, although I kind of alternate using the touchscreen with the dial

I disagree! More people are open to hybrids than EV right now
