Nov. 2023 I went on a carnivore diet to stop my daily acid reflux after my meals. The added bonus was my 15kg weight loss, plus no more heartburn since then. I also drink coffee with cream as a treat, l use it to keep my weight stable as I lost it too rapidly. When I want to loose more weight I drink warm water, green tea or black coffee instead. The bit of pleasure I get from a coffee treat does help against wanting anything sweet so if it works why not.

Never in my entire life, even before i went carnivore, have i ever convinced myself or anyone else that coffee is healthy in one way or another.
I drink coffee as many others do. I drink too much in my opinion.
    I don't drink it because i think it's healthy because i know it's not.
I drink it because im addicted to caffeine. And because i like the taste of coffee which doesnt help.
I have quit drinking coffee many times. Often months at a time but for some reason i always get to that point where i try 1 cup and than im sold.
There will come a day when i will stop drinking coffee completely. I just hope that day won't be in the next life.

I think every carnivore owes it to themselves to spend at least some period of time as strict as they can just to see how much healing is possible. I've gotten off track in my health pursuit and would benefit from a strict reset. This is a timely reminder that if you're in a flare or a stall, there may still be levers to pull to help you get things moving in the right direction again. Thanks for the thoughtful video!

Yea...I love coffee so much that I started back up again 2 months ago - decaf only. It made me so happy, but my joints started hurting again (I have EDS and fibro) and I felt worse than I had in quite a while. Was it the coffee? The heavy cream? The full pot a day that I allowed myself to drink with the excuse that I have given literally everything else up? I appreciate your honesty, "It's bad for you, I still do it and here is my justification for it". I'm old and drank coffee for 50 years, at times(years at a time) addictively. 11 months ago I tried carnivore as an elimination diet because of itchy rashes. My results on carnivore have been so astounding that I just kept going, including not drinking coffee. I don't rule out that I may use it medicinally at some time in the future but for now I feel better on carnivore than I have in decades. May be something to whether or not one becomes addicted.

    A) anxiety went to 0
    B) energy levels stabilised
    C) sleep became better and deeper

For context was throwing back 6 to 10 coffees a day, mostly instant.

I gave up coffee because I didn't want to be dependent on caffeine anymore, and I also feel it logically shouldn't be part of a carnivore diet if you're doing that. I honestly don't miss it. Yeah it could "wake me up" when I needed it but then I'd be in this weird state where I was being kept awake but still felt absolutely exhausted. I'd feel terrible in the mornings and needed that coffee just to feel normal again. I was addicted to the added sugar as well (lattes were my go-to). And on top of all that, I'm certain it was either causing or at least agrivating some type of digestive issue because it would usually be the common denominator on days where my stomach would freak out after eating for "no reason".
People still cling to coffee on carnivore because they're addicted to it, plain and simple. And yes like all addictions, it can feel pretty bad when you try to quit. But you'd think carnivores of all people would understand that already.

Good video thanks MX .. ~6 months into my carnivore diet, my coffee policies are still shifting. I kicked coffee in Feb/Mar, then returned in Apr .. More recently I've been having a 50/50 mild coffee with milk (Reheated in the microwave; 2 per day) - Reason for this has been to soften the impact to my adrenal glands which has been successful, but I acknowledge the insulin spikes - I had attempted butter/cream earlier & found that weight-loss was slowed. From your comments, I think I'll give the butter/cream another shot, then see if I can reduce to 1 per day; The challenge with kicking takes several days to normalise & includes a few headaches in transition. ☕🐄

Thank you for being transparent about your personal use. I too find that I need that boost of caffeine from too little sleep but it has become a ‘tradition’ (aka addiction 🤣). I just recently started carnivore and am 69yo.I have worked labor on horse farms and in warehouses most of my life so want to extend how long I can keep that up. I enjoy working hard! I realize though that I my be cutting my nose off to spite my face using caffeine to keep motoring…I know from watching great content on a carnivore lifestyle by Drs. on YT, that a lot of the problem of really being serious has to do with our conditioning. Well, I am going to try caffeine pills ( with theanine) to see if the jitters and anxiety side effect goes away as they ‘say’ it does in reviews. I have tried to quit coffee but I am one of those women that are tired all the time. One of the hopes I have is that the carnivore life will change that! Certainly I hope I did not damage my organs too badly and can reverse most of my health issues. Quitting sugar was HARD but so far so good. I was keeping coffee with cream but learning about the carcinogens, pesticides, and poison in coffee and plants I think it will have to go. Keep the great content coming! 👍

    Thank you.
I would estimate that the optimal average consumption of a varying amount of coffee at different times of the day will be once a month.
If you are interested, why I came to this conclusion, then read on.
    All humans are addicted.
Addicted to alcohol, nicotine, hard drugs, caffein, habits, social acceptance, being loved, status, sense of life, shelter, sex, physical contact, raising children, curiosity, sugar/carbs, protein, fat, oxygen, food, …
The addiction serves as a trigger which forces us into beneficial behaviors.
Those behaviors are however only beneficial in an environment which is deprived. I.e. an environment where there is too little of “everything”.
In modern societies there is usually an excess of “everything”.
Note: Some people might argue that an addiction is only for things that harm us. I use the term addiction as a way to describe a trigger for a specific behavior.
If we want to live a healthy life in our environment of excessive supply and freedom of choice, we have to artificially create the limits for ourselves.
The first difficulty is to find out what is the optimal supply of all these things and feelings for our body & soul.
The second difficulty is to then give our body and soul exactly the correct amount of those things and feelings.
Note: A “perfect” supply is actually not perfect. Our body and soul needs challenges. We therefore need to “every once in a while” challenge our body and soul to make it stronger. Within reasonable limits, the “What doesn’t kill us makes us stronger” paradigm can be applied, when applied wisely. Wisely means to randomly apply restrictions, so that our body and soul cannot always predict what it will get.
As you can see, the caffeine question is getting quite complicated…
Considering all the above, I would estimate that the optimal average consumption of a varying amount of coffee at different times of the day will be once a month.
For people who, as I am, are interested in finding and implementing the perfect conditions for our body and soul, such analysis, research and discussion is essential.

---> *_A couple of things to think about:_*
*_Organic Caffeine vs "Chemical" Caffeine. That's Caffeine from a cup of Coffee Vs. Caffeine from a Caffeine pill; the Caffeine is made/created 2 different ways._*
*_And people react differently. If you get jittery from Coffee, try a Caffeine Pill instead. The Caffeine pills are usually 100mg Caffeine. In a Cup of Coffee(that's the measuring unit "Cup", think "Grandma Cup") it's usually 70mg Caffeine, a Mug is about 100mg. In 1.5liters or 1/3 Gallon of cola/diet cola is 160mg of Caffeine. So now you can see the amount in some different beverages._*
*_Also, many Caffeine pills are slow release, so you have a steady release of Caffeine over the day._*
*_I feel "strange" when I drink Coffee, but I feel "great" the entire day when I take 1-2 100mg Caffeine Pills in the morning; which I take 1-1,5h after waking up._*
*_Also, I am CLEARLY more allergic in the spring if I drink Coffee Vs. if I take Caffeine Pills instead; an allergy reduction by 90% I'd wager._*
*_Also, there's benefits to adding a small pinch of Salt(some Maldon triangles) to your morning Coffee. Not only will this bring forth a new flavour profile; it will easy your stomach if the acidity is too much for you. And a Carnivore needs more Salt than others anyhow._*
*_Does Caffeine help your bowel movements? Well, yes, but there are other factors. It's more the warm liquid that starts a bowel movement, try just drinking a cup of Hot Water in the morning and see for yourself._*
*_Now, I do not know if mixing Organic Caffeine and "Chemical" Caffeine has any benefits or downsides. It does seem that when adding Caffeine to other components for increased effect; it's the "Chemical" or In-Organic Caffeine that works best?_*

This may or may nor be helpful to anyone reading but i would like to share my story.
Was definitely negatively affected by coffee throughout my life and do agree with much Max has stated in this video.
Stopped drinking coffee for many years. That was until i decided to try several different coffee`s. Was really surprised how my body responded to all the different types and brands. This was not subtle.
Now after lots of trial n error i only drink high quality Byron Bay certified Organic coffee (several cups in the AM during intermittent fast) with small amount organic Ghee, few drops of ionic potassium/electrolyte or tiny pinch sea salt before my PM meal.
Every other coffee seems to have a negative effect on me to one extent or another.... except this one! (so far)
I do not drink coffee in the evening but the times i have tried, with this coffee, barely effected my sleep at all.
This specific coffee really seems to agree with `me` which i find amazing since never being able to handle coffee in the past at all.
Feeling great now, more energized and positive too, drinking several cups every morning/afternoon with no issues since finally finding a coffee that agrees with `me` whilst also seems to be giving me all the benefits coffee is known for without the negatives.
Tried a few more apparently quality coffee`s recently and immediately felt some varying negatives in comparison.
This has basically proven to me it is not necessarily coffee itself. It is the type, maybe the specific blend, the roast quality and the overall organic *quality* more than anything. How we consume it and finally just finding one that agrees with us individually..
Considering we are all slightly different with so many variables going on which could affect the outcome.
In summary i now find drinking coffee such a pleasure and a crucial compliment to the healthy carnivore/keto/fasting lifestyle..
Maybe try some different types - chances are you will also find a quality coffee that *finally* agrees with you - as i have.
    Good luck 🙂

I hated coffee and never drank it until I was 34 years old, then I drank it for 5 years. My doctor told me to drink a cup of coffee and 4 aspirin due to swelling I was getting in my skull from a head injury (coffee reduces blood flow to the brain by 52%). Well, I got addicted and started drinking it all day just like the guys at work. I couldn’t sleep, it changed my personality to make me angry especially at the end of the day, and I’d have hot flashes where I’d sweat through my entire mattress. It was insane. I quit drinking it and have never had even one hot flash since. I started studying it, and coffee is very bad especially for women. It milks the adrenal glands and ruins them so that they cannot take over to produce estrogen when the ovaries shut down during menopause; there are entire populations who don’t have hot flashes and excessive bleeding symptoms, and they’re the ones who don’t drink coffee. Men will also be effected by it during andropause, as their adrenal glands are supposed to make up the difference for the production of testosterone. It’s probably a big reason why T levels have drastically reduced in men these days, and the lack of fat and meat in the diet makes it harder for the body to heal the adrenals.

When it comes down to it, it's all about quality of life. For many people, quality is subjective. If someone loves coffee and that's the only pleasurable thing that they have not given up, then that may be worth the less than 100% quality of life. I still drink 3 to 4 cups of coffee each morning but I would like to lessen that but right now I'm finding it difficult because it has become so engrained in my lifestyle to have coffee in the morning.

500>>310 pounds on. 80% carnivore. I only take diet breaks when I hit new milestone.
I take Celsius, just has caffeine, taurine, egcg. 10 calories. I need to go bathroom in morning, and I do my hardest workout before breakfast. Cortisol naturally spikes in morning. Caffeine also makes me much less hungry.
I would sometimes take a second Celsius at noon. Sometimes this was ok, but usually net negative. Although hunger would drop to dead zero, I won’t deny it was usually harder to sleep. And I did start to feel that chest thumping stress which felt unnatural at 6 pm compared to a hyped morning 6 am.
Could I go without caffeine ? I think so. I tried for a while last year for 2 weeks. Tbh the weight loss kept going but, the hunger was bit higher. I also had to slowly ramp up in the morning and I had to let my body decide when to go bathroom.
It sounds VERY STUPID but the biggest reason I still take Celsius is to go to the bathroom asap.
I bet ideal universe situation I could wake up, lift weights at home, poop when the time was right, finish lifting, breakfast, work from home, walk afternoon, lunch, etc, chill and naturally sleep. But I gotta do irl on a schedule lol I’m sry =C

Hmmmm... I drink 3-5 cups of coffee a day and I recently lost 85 lbs. in 9 month's 6 month's ago. Keeping it off too. It's easy. And it was fat loss, not muscle loss. Inflammation was eliminated as well. I don't do strict Carnivore, I do Low Carb High Fat (LCHF) It includes a lot of meat, all meats, especially beef. I just also eat non starchy vegetables as well as whole fat dairy. I keep my carbs down to around 100 a day. If I didn't drink coffee it would be replaced with something much worse. I've been drinking coffee since I was 7 years old when I would get up with my Dad before he went to work. I'm 67 years old now. I can drink coffee and like you said, go to bed. I sleep straight through the night no problem. Maybe all that coffee helped keep my prostate from enlarging. 🤷‍♂ Anyway, I don't see how 60 years of coffee has hurt me in any way, and perhaps it benefitted me. It certainly didn't slow down my weight loss or stunt my growth like everyone told my Dad was going to happen to me if he let me drink the coffee. And by the way. I can stop drinking coffee any time I want. I've quit for weeks before just to prove to people that I'm not addicted to it. I really don't think coffee is a problem. But everybody's different. 🙂
