Sorry to hear about your pup my friend. It’s absolutely terrible losing a K9 and it will never get better regardless of what people say. The positive, and maybe the only good thing out of this, is that you’re obviously an awesome dog owner and will take what you’ve been through to pay it forward. 👍

My mom's family bred Airedales. Which is another large terrier. Just like the Schnauzer the breed is written off as a foofoo dog. My families Airedales protected the ranch from bears, wolves, and rattlesnakes. They had a stud who was immune to rattlesnake venom because he had been bit so many times. They were tough as hell yet great with the family. They were also great at keeping the rats out of the horse feed.

I own a Dogue de bourdeaux also, who's much stronger than my Rotti, and while I love all my dogs, the Rottweiler as a breed has superior independent problem solving ability than many breeds much stronger than it (second only to German Shepherds) and that's the trade off I guess, to absolute strength. Deshaud Brown I have a male , 3 yrs old , my first Boerboel after always owning GSD . Has never been on a chain , never in a kennel and we are fortunate to live in a wooded area , great to allow him off leash when we walk or hike . From what I have learned , this breed truly thrives being with family , a true part of our family dynamic .
They say this breed has a sixth sense when it comes to knowing what their humans are thinking . This is a true statement . We noticed early on at even 8 weeks of age he would watch us , even when he didn’t know we were observing him . With side glances , through windows , when he would run ahead in the woods , he would often look back , while he pretended to be occupied with bones or toys he always had an eye on us .
He learned so many words , signals with hands , tone of voices that he is very in tuned with us . Highly intelligent , protective without the aggression , and a few times with enough aggression for coyotes , Black bear etc.I have learned so much more even after owning dogs my entire life of over 40 some years thinking I knew it all .
Good luck with your female .

I was so thankful to have my dog with me that night, we went in letting the people know about what happened, they had people to walk us out after that, a yellow bug Volkswagen that was parked next to my 69 T bird in the parking lot was gone, as it turns out it was that Bundy guy, since police back then didn't know what was going on between the different states, not many people knew about him even being around. He must have high tailed it out of my state, but still managed to go down to FL and kill 3 more girls, he wore a cast on his upper right arm, telling people a dog bit him, wish my dog would have got his throat instead of his arm.

The one that starts with you, is matched to your energy level. Don't try and pick one because the dog will actually pick you. He obviously knows nothing about Shar pei... Ours was 65 pounds and would go from one window to the next looking for Intruders and never stopped... He's a legend in this house with all our vendors that would come and go as well as the pizza guy... He was awesome to watch... The catwalk was his hang out place because he could see down our whole street at night...a great protector for certain

I've had many different breed's of dogs, and growing up we had all kinds of dog's...American Bulldog, Presa Canario, never had a Cane Corso, would like to some day, had a Doberman, 5 Rotti's, although not at the same time and all of them with a docked tail, can't get into the natural tail, sorry, lol, and I've had two Filas, had a Malinois, Dutch shepherd, German shepherd.
I now have a Caucasian Sherpherd, but my all time favorite dog, #1 dog for Personal Protection, I've had about 12 in my life, the American Pit Bull Terrier. I went back to the Pit bull after messing around/fooling around with all these other breeds, lol. For a whole bunch of reasons I went back to the APBT, it's their tenacity, courage, drives, resilience, endurance, eagerness to please, the list goes on & on!
I got a real nice red nose female right now, she has no fear of nothing, she has all the drives, everything, and I'm working her in PP. She's about 55 lbs, but it's not all about the size. Pit bulls are supposed to be naturally human friendly, but I made all mine easily bite on command, lol, and most of the one's I've had were not that friendly, it's how you train them, they train easily.

In my experience the Cane Corso is to weak and the presa to happy and Rottie and Dobberman you must train to protect. With my long experience i chose Fila Braziliero, neapolitan mastiff maybe boerboel for serious natural protection.

Didn't even realy train my doberman and she walks glued to my side watching everyone passing me, she even protected me from some base head trying to fight. He lunged at me and she locked her jaws on his arm, I whistled and she let go and he ran off l, they love their masters fiercely I don't think I've ever had a more loyal dog

I have a question are Boerboels to large to be great home protection dogs? Bedsides my my question Zeke as always your video is very educational! Zeke, I have another question and I’m wondering if you would be willing to do a video on the blue dog as (Diane Jessup calls them in the interview you did with her) or as many erroneous call blue nose pits. I had one and best dog ever, but watching the interviews you have done now I’m not too sure if I can call him an APBT or true bulldog. Please, I need more information on these dogs. So I may call them correctly and educate those around me. Thanks Zeke! Also it’s my bday in May so on my part thanks! 😊 say happy bday to your son from the Rizo family.

Read up on them, they are number 1 guard dogs in my opinion. They guard in South Africa in terrible conditions and are known to ward off lions. Male Boerboels can reach 100KG, yet they have the agility, energy and speed of smaller dogs. They are insanely muscular for their weight and have less loose skin than most Mastiff breeds. I have owned many Mastiffs, but the Boerboel (African Mastiff) is by far my favorite! They have been the most loyal, easy to train, powerful and protective dogs i've owned. bowwowinsurance.com.au/dogs/dog-breeds/boerboel/ Beautiful dogs! ua-cam.com/video/Ze2VnBMYCbY/v-deo.html

My chow has 2 rots and one pit to her name. The most aggressive and fearless dog I’ve ever seen. The incidents occurred while we were jogging. She was out weighed by at least 50lbs. by the rots. Not bragging as I wish it never happened.
