Genetically afghanistan is a mixbag. The current racial makeup of greater Afghanistan is a result of historical migration and settlement. But the greater genetic contributors are Indian greek and persians. Well the thing about the lost tribe is an unproven notion. The history binds this region to the subcontinent and persia. Afghanistan has many sites of indus valley civilization. The ancient indian texts like mahabharata and arthshatra mentions about the uttar kuru(tajik or uzbek one of them) and gandhar(present day kandhar) as mahajanpads and the final indian frontiers. Gandhari the mother of kauravas and his brother shakuni the villans of mahabharata were of gandhar(kandhar), the name peshavar comes from purushpura that was the seat of kanishka a famous ancient indian king of I suppose kushan dynasty. Although there was judaism and Christianity present in Afghanistan before the advent of islam but the mjor religion followed were Zoroastrianism (en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zoroastrianism) and hinduism. Even as late as 8th cenury BC their exsisted a hindu dynasty that ruled afghanistan the pal dynasty they later migrated to Kashmir with the advent of islam. The nuristan region had a substantial population of these aboriginal belivers as late as 1800s and hence the region was called kafiristan till the last century. The compiler of first ever grammar/ compiler of samskrit grammar panini was a pakhtun and came from aria or afghanistan. Afghanistan word comes from the samskrit word ashvaka. Their were three home lands for vedic Indo-aryans. Ariana(from where irag gets its name), ashvayana(afghanistan gets its name) (en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ariana) and bharatvarsha/India or aryavrat/north India and dakshinavrata/south India. The etymological view supported by numerous noted scholars is that the name Afghan evidently derives from Sanskrit Aśvakas, q.v. the Assakenoiof Arrian.[25] This view was propounded by scholars like Christian Lassen,[26] J. W. McCrindle,[27] M. V. de Saint Martin,[28] and É. Reclus,[29] and has been supported by numerous modern scholars.[30][31][32][33][34]
In Sanskrit, the word ashva (Iranian aspa, Prakritassa) means "horse", and ashvaka (Prakrit assaka) means "horseman",[35] "horse people",[36] "land of horses",[37] as well as "horse breeders".[38] Pre-Christian times knew the people of the Hindukushregion as Ashvakas (horsemen), since they raised a fine breed of horses and had a reputation for providing expert cavalrymen. The 5th-century-BCE Indian grammarian Pāṇini calls them Ashvakayana[39] and Ashvayana.[40][41]Mahabharata mentions them as Ashvaka(na). Classical writers, however, use the respective equivalents Aspasioi (or Aspasii, Hippasii) and Assakenoi (or Assaceni/Assacani, Asscenus) etc. The Aspasioi/Assakenoi (Ashvakas = Cavalrymen) is stated to be another name for the Kambojas of ancient texts because of their equestriancharacteristics.[42] Alexander Cunningham and a few other scholars identify these designations with the modern name Afghan.[43]
The Indian epic Mahabharata speaks about Kambojas among the finest horsemen,[44] and ancient Pali texts describe their lands as the land of horses.[45][46][47] Kambojas spoke Avestan language and followed Zoroastrianism.[48][49]Some scholars believe Zoroastrianism originated in land of Kambojas.[50]
The former Aspins of Chitral and Ashkuns(Yashkuns) of Gilgit are identified as the modern representatives of the Pāṇinian Aśvakayanas(Greek: Assakenoi); and the Asip/Isap (cf. Aspa-zai> Yusufzai) in the Kabul valley (between the rivers Kabul and Indus) are believed to be modern representatives of the Pāṇinian Aśvayanas (Greek: Aspasioi) respectively.
Pasted this part stright from Wikipedia 😂 the pre islamic history of afghanistan is tied to Indian more than any other modern nation may be Iran but then pre islamic history of iran is also tied to India. These place had similar cultural fabric.
    One more from Wikipedia
Relations between the people of Afghanistan and India traces to the Indus Valley Civilisation.[14]Following Alexander the Great's brief occupation, the successor state of the Seleucid Empirecontrolled the region known today as Afghanistan. In 305 BCE, they ceded much of it to the Indian Maurya Empire as part of an alliance treaty.
Alexander took these away from the Aryans and established settlements of his own, but Seleucus Nicatorgave them to Sandrocottus(Chandragupta), upon terms of intermarriage and of receiving in exchange 500 elephants.[15]
    - Strabo, 64 BCE - 24 CE
The Mauryans brought Buddhism from India and controlled the area south of the Hindu Kush. Their decline began 60 years after Ashoka's rule ended, leading to the Hellenistic reconquest of the region by the Greco-Bactrians. Much of it soon broke away from the Greco-Bactrians and became part of the Indo-Greek Kingdom. The Indo-Greeks had been defeated and expelled by the Indo-Scythiansin the late 2nd century BCE.[16] Much of Afghanistan has been influenced by Buddhist, Hindu and Zoroastrian cultures until the arrival of Islam in the 7th century. But despite many Afghans accepting the message of Islam, the Muslims and Hindus lived side by side.
"Kabul has a castle celebrated for its strength, accessible only by one road. In it there are Musulmáns, and it has a town, in which are infidelsfrom Hind."[17]
    - Istahkrí, 921 CE

There is another theory which suggests that the name Afghanistan directly derives from the Sanskrit word Upaganasthan where Upagana represents the various tribes of Afghanistan. Otherwise the ancient name of Afghanistan was Aryana.

    Hi,
Pashtunistan here actually is referred to territory which has been divided by the british in the so called Durand line, you can check bannu resolution for the reference.
And for the lost tribe you were talking about their lineage, i would like to differ on that as the region they inhabit has been under many kings and rulers since the ancient times, the earliest records have shown descendance to avestan ... Much before the old testaments ...
apart from that you are doing good, i like your reactions, most sensible so far than the most of them out there!
    Keep going good work
    Peace !

Man this video is amazing !! Im from kolkata....i have seen meny kabuliwalas in my life, but i didnt know that they are pashton people !! And moreover, they forgot to mention one thing that kabuliwalas were a huge part of money lending business in post british era, in kolkata atleast. They used to have a huge money lending network....they maintained it with honesty...but as the stories goes, if any dishonest borrowing party tried to get away with their money, kabuliwalas tend to get ferocious....but nowadays, in the era of corporate investment companies, kabulis got downsided by the hard competition and risk factors....soo, thats my end of story....love from kolkata ❤️✌️🙏🤘

Brother in India there are more than 10 million pashtoons living in India, their concentration is more in pathankot,Punjab, there is a whole area in doab of uttar pradesh called rohilkhand, which was dominated by rohilla pathans,Bhopal in madhya prdesh,Bihar,Mysore,Hyderabad,Lucknow, you can find Pathans all over India because India was " soan chidi" for pathans,of course many have adopted Urdu as their mother tongue and no more Pushtu speaking ,only Pashtun speaking about 10 million, and 4-5 million pakhtoons left for Pakistan during partition most of them in Karachi, and no other muslims use Khan as surname (may be few) except pakhtoons

Oh! You're a Pashto!! No wonder you're so handsome :))
The other day I met an old Afghan lady. She came all the way from Afghanistan to India for her treatment. I met her in a hospital, she was dressed in a black robe that covered her full body except for her face. She was of my grandmother's age. So, that day I saw her struggling with her phone, her credit was over. Everytime she tried calling someone the automated system gave her a message indicating she will not be able to complete the call due to low balance. Since the message was in English and Hindi, she couldn't understand anything. So, she turned to me, gave her phone and said "Bhaiya deko kya bolta, credit khalas?". Oh! And that smile on her wrinkled face, I still can't forget her. I wish I met her again. May God bless her wherever she is.

strange enough my ex was a mix of turk and pathan as well, too bad his ex was kind of a unbearable woman who made my life living hell. felt very bad when i had to break up with him but honestly a very good man, very passionate people and once they become your friend they stick with you for life.
