    Oh the winds do roar
to carry us to a distant shore,
fresh sails above trimmed with care,
good watch is made so have no fear,
new lands await for our curious two,
new lands to show the land bound crew!

Watching your video's reminds me of a favorite travel account I read over fifty years ago, while still in High School. The book was LISTEN THE WIND by Anne Morrow Lindbergh. She wrote eloquently about around the world travels with her husband Col. Charles Lindbergh. That was in an aircraft they owned and the trip was made some time before WW II.
The book was just a real pleasure to read and I was vicariously transported to exotic places while pioneering 1930's era high technology. If we did not have modern video cameras and the Internet, I bet Nikki Would become a fantastic travel author. Conversely, I wonder what the Lindbergh's would have produced with our modern technology?
As usual, my weekly dose of Wynn's is a great way to start my Sunday morning. I plan to keep watching at least till the new sails wear out in fifteen years.

I KNOW what you mean. Wife and I traveld the world, including NZ and AUS....Dove in Guam, Greece, HI the Caribbean and other places...Had a heart attack, and no longer allowed to dive. I now spend more time with doctors appointments. For all you younger folks, travel where you can, step outside of your comfort zone and explore. It is important to not rely on mainstream media. For they can be extremely biased and stick to an agenda whether it be left or right. And that's why it's great to have a neutral source like Morning Brew so instead of listening to an agenda, you're listening to just plain information, the reason you watch and read the news in the first place

A good use for old sails. 1. When your poping into remote islands small ones give them to Fisher men to make huts on the beach. For there little fishing camps. 2. Cut out the middle of the main. Resew stitches. Make a free shade tent for the yacht. Toss it over the main tie it down. Now mega shade for long stays in high sun light areas. The webbing, can be made into a fish NET basket, bait the middle. Drop it over. Pull it back up with a wench, hope it's filled with fish. 3. Leave them with rope on a island for other cruisers. Start a shelter, small islands could use them to catch rain water also. They can be cut up and used as windows and doors. Tree branch frames, tie a sail webbing middle. Now the poorest people in the world who live on remote islands have a door to block the wind. Even keeping part in your ditch bag. What could be cool also is cut out part. Make a large ,sign on sail. Ask your new friends to sign the sail with a sharpie, fill the cut out patch with names . Dates and where you were. Then hold a LOTTORY for your viewer's. Injoy. .. question. What happens to a old classic car. When you drop a lot bigger motor in it. And make it go faster.... answer, the old car frame breaks. Injoy

    Super cool. New sails!!!
btw Levi jeans started out buying the old hemp sails, re-carding, then weaving up some new hemp cloth to make the jeans that never wore out. Hemp not cotton for clothing is the way to go - check it out.

Hemp and Flax/linen are two fabrics that buried in the change to Cotton ...its one of the worst mass crops out for its social history and the Environmental damage its caused globally. See the case of the Aral sea but mostly because of the demands it places on water for irrigation and the pesticides used to protect the crop. Arsenic was heavily used in the early stages of growing it ....and still leaves huge areas of land in the S. US toxic for growing food crops or building on.

Also a case of the Tobacco companies like oil companies greasing govt and politicians palms up front by taxes and via back pockets and more direct tactics.
Nylon was needed as its an oil based product it becomes part of that and the non biodegradable plastics problem.🤷🏻‍♂️

@@clivestainlesssteelwomble7665 Agreed. Anyway, now we have special hemp fiber strains with no "frills" there's no excuse for not growing it everywhere. Steam fibrillates into a fine as silk yarn - a famous fashion house should make it universally popular.

Yup its been used by car manufacturers to form interior trim panels ..
Bamboo is another bio super fiber and carbon sink ..
Though Hemp has the ability to stick down monster roots that pull up water...and lock up toxic metals like Arsenic while binding the soil in place against wind and flooding.
      Livestock will eat leaves
A bit of genetic fiddling and you could introduce nitrogen fixing bacteria nodes into the roots improve the soil and fix carbon.

That was funny and a LOT of hard work. You've gotten great service out of your Ullman Sails over the decades AND your hallmark "yellow" spinnaker. :)
