- Action movies are a dime a dozen these days, especially since Marvel and DC Comics began their huge movie franchises. This is not to say that action movies are becoming diluted and predictable. If anything, the good ones are actually getting better and even more entertaining.
However, there are action movies from our past and current eras that are not part of the Marvel and DC Comic franchise and are a must-watch. These movies are not only guaranteed to entertain with great action sequences but some of them will also move you and possibly make you cry.
The action movie genre has evolved throughout the years and here is a list of action movies from past and present that you need to see once in your lifetime.

Expecting Terminator 2, Die Hard, The Dark Knight, Kill Bill, and The Matrix? Check out our previous video featuring action films you need to watch: ua-cam.com/video/6QLo92FHYRQ/v-deo.html
You should have just said "Watch every action movie once before you die, but consider these 18 twice." Then probably there'll be less bitchin'.
Looper
Looper what Marvel movies were you saying specifically takes themselves too seriously? Cuz I want to say I don't agree with that but I would like to know specifically Which films.
Where's Aliens and Predator???
THumbs up for including for including Rogue One
Edge of Tomorrow is the most underrated movie of the decade. Sooooo good.
Edge of Tomorrow looks to be a american movie knock off of the manga All You Need is Kill
That's where it took inspiration from.
Edge of Tomorrow is really good until it completely dumps the premise and becomes about a rag-tag band of misfits winning the war through the power of cooperation and willingness to sacrifice. Especially considering the movie made very little effort to make us care about those misfits first.
Great premise though, nice first two acts. Just a shame..
BatalionHunter
Knock off ?
Have you watched it ?
It was the only movie of the decade so far where I left gobsmacked at how good it was, so underrated!
John Wick did not adopt daisy she was a gift from his wife. Hense why john wick is pissed off
it's like they're not watching the movie.
Correct. She planned giving the dog after she deceased so John would have someone else to love and care for. With this present, John final started to mourn ... and then this rusky babyboy comes with his friends to take it away ... no way John could let it go. Actions and CONSEQUENCES. :)
@@rosbin56 You sir haven't watched it..
I was about to say the same, it is a pivotal point in the film
@@rosbin56 And they just read what others said about James Bond.......Sure let's remake James Bond with anything that makes it a Bond movie.......its just Jason Bourne with English accent.
Taken, mad max, bourne ultimatum, mision imposible,
Ok boomer
@@hxxwk all of them are modern films apart from mad max
@@hxxwk damn homie that's so clever & original & really definitely worth the time you took to think of the perfect response just to really tell them how it is... Good job bruh 100 cool points Fer u
Mission Impossible only had the helecopter/train scene as its only action sequence. Tom Cruse stealing the secrets is not action.
The puppy was a gift from his wife, he didn’t adopt it (John Wick)
Yes the puppy was a gift from his wife, but if John Wick didn't adopt it, then what did he do, throw it out in to the street to starve to death?
Correct, it was said so in the film
Exactly " A final gift from my wife. A chance to grieve unalone...your son took THAT FROM ME, KILLED THAT FROM ME....."
@@JJ_ExMachina it's not considered adoption if the wife gave it to him as a gift. Stupid lol. If wick went and adopted the dog himself at a shelter then yes, it would be an adoption.
@@imtheonehero9305... Yes John Wick's wife gifted him a puppy, which she picked out herself for him...
He still adopted it... That's what it is called when you take care of an animal or a child(that's not biologically yours)
Adopting something is to take responsibility for and to provide care for that person or animal...
The 2012 Dredd is a friggin' masterpiece!
Karthik K C Amen to that!
At least they got that right
Karthik K C super underrated
It's essentially an english version of The Raid though. But yeah great movie. Way better than the stallone movies.
i totally agree!! watched in in 3D, this movie is massive!!!
Thanks for the tip on "Kung Fu Hustle", it was brilliant - a hell of a lot more fun than just an action movie.
Watch there 2nd movie. Shaolin soccer
It was more about life & how to deal with it. Spirituality is the key
Korean Oldboy has entered the chat.
I loved this. Hilarious silly fun and cool fight scenes. What's not to love.
kung Fu Hustle is a must see. I absolutely love that flick
Yup it's worth 5 watches easily
Shoulin Soccer, your welcome.
Kung Fu Hustle is so funny.
I love the bit where the nagging wife elbows her husband😂😂
@@jonathanbabcock9177 I was gonna say, Shaolin soccer is right from the same shelf and I've watched both more than twice for sure.
Kung Fu Hustle is by far the most underrated comedy off all time
Shalin soccer, with the same cast too....
@@ih_stallion950 *showlin
I watched it 100 times
Wow! Purge makes the list and no Terminator 2 or True lies or Kill Bill?!
Purge - one of the stupidest ideas ever turned into a motion-picture. Maybe "Battleship" is worse.
It’s a fan voted list, so people didn’t think they were worthy.
Prince_Sajith 1999 Purge 3 sucks ass
Prince_Sajith 1999 Or Speed with Keanu Reeves?
I was shocked not to see T2 at all
The original "Equalizer" wasn't cheesy. It was great! And I remember it well!!
To call The Equalizer cheesy means you didn't watch it. That was a good show. Right up there with Wiseguy.
Well stated.
That was a real off-note in an otherwise pretty good script here.
Equalizer was almost as good as teevee could get in those days.
Not quite up to The Prisoner (which is in a class by itself), but pretty dam' close.
Jackie Chan Legend of Drunken Master was better than Rumble in the Bronx to me.
for me too. Actually Jackie Chan has a lot of other action movies I consider better then rumble in the bronxe.
@@ramonhelbig1823 lost
John Wick doesn't adopt a dog. And Edge of Tomorrow isn't inspired by a video game - it is manga-based story.
Yes thank you so many mistakes by the video!
Ярослав Гребнев he does to asopt/steals a dog at the end.
big red the talk was about the dog, that "started" the film - the one that wife left him before her death.
They didn't say it was inspired by 'a video game,' they said it was inspired by 'video games.' It's about how you can fail and die, but always be resurrected to try to win the next time..
Good knowledge 👍
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon is so amazing.
The Raid is one of the most underrated movies ever
15/18 watched, I'm impressed with myself!
Props for recommending Ong Bak, def a great movie.
When “Rumble In The Bronx” hit theaters here, I went to go see it. Loved it so much I paid again to see the very next showing right afterwards.
The narrator hasn't seen any of these movies.... gets almost all the synopsis wrong. Wick doesn't adopt a puppy!
Not only that, he got edge of tomorrow wrong. The movie was inspired by a Japanese light novel and the manga.
thistubeisfucked and it's not comedic at all
Chris Garcia i havent gotten to that part yet so idk what the narrator said but at the end of the movie wick takes the dog from a kennel thus "adopting" him
Has he even seen rogue one? It’s so slow.
And the equalizer was an excellent British TV series.
This is a GREAT list.. Baby Driver was one of the most slept on movies ever..
Damn, where's Demolition Man? I must have watched that 2 dozen times, what with my prepubescent self getting off on VR sex. "What's your boggle?" "You are fined 1 credit for a violation..." "You're on TV!" .. sooo many classic lines. That one was so ahead of its time.. cryogenic prison, the securefoam in the car, medical diagnosis through remote sensing, anti-graffiti walls, retinal recognition, the three seashells! So many gems in one movie!
Sandra's Bullock in those tight black pants. Yeah I've seen it a lot lol
Ong Bak is one of the best martial arts movies ever done, Tony Jaa does also epic stunts
Tom Yam Goong!
No... i pass on that.
The Protector was amazing in my opinion.
Yup agree with u... Talking about martial art.. ong bak is one of the best... The way they fight n hit...its so realistic and hard
Mad9977 Productions not a fan of the first one
Another one I would have added would be "The Accountant." I'm not a Huge Ben Affleck fan, but that was a surprisingly good action flick. It's a lot like the equalizer, not as good as the equalizer, but good just the same.
I also don't care much for Affleck, but that movie was amazing.
@@jimwallace5808 I totally agree
@@jimwallace5808 agreed that movie was awesome.
The reason it was such a good film is the fact afflict hardly spoke.
@@slatibaadfast Lol! That may be why liked it! My subconcious was pleased.
This is actually a good list for once, I might for once watch some of these
AWESOME list!
I can watch Cruise and the Angel of Verdun over and over!Them dang Mimics!
Johns wife sent the dog to him as a gift before she died so he didn't have to grieve alone
This list got some official gems in it. Appreciate it bro
Seen a handful of these. Dredd and Edge of Tomorrow are two of my favourite movies of all time.
T2? Die hard?
Predator? Matrix?
You need to see all these 10 times
Dario Esquivel me too! Horrible lost without them.
Aliens, Commando, Robo Cop, Sin City, ....
Yeah what about Equilibrium, Speed, The Road Warrior
Edge of tomorrow is ...masterpiece
Fantastic list. Already seen all of them prior to this clip, and agree with all the recommendations!
Awesome, I watch them all except one. :) I'll try to get a copy later.
Die Hard? Lethal Weapon? Dirty Harry?
Asking the same thing, of course if they wanted to give shout maybe lesser know movies as well, why not Equilibrium, Shooter, The Getaway
u new here ?
wait for
"YET ANOTHER TOP 10 ACTION MOVIE "
Those over Rogue One any day.
"The Equalizer" wasn't a cheesy, CBS show! I wish I had seen more of it first-run. Edward Woodward was a terrific, classically-trained trained actor who lent gravity and class to a production that could have been "cheesy." The stories I saw were pretty good also.
I just watched the Denzel Washington vehicles that pay homage to that "cheesy" series: they did an excellent job.
I have watched most of them... The equalizer is the best one
I have watched all of 18 movies listed here. Great selection
If you do not know how John Wick got the dog, I cannot take you serious.
"Dredd"... one of the most underestimated movies ever!
"Edge Of Tomorrow"... as awesome as it could get. Simply perfection!
dredd is a rip off of the raid. same plot
Dredd is one of my favorites. Doesn't have same feel to raid. Premise maybe similar but the treatment is entirely different. Enjoyed both of them.
@@J.R.S.G.S same plot. police force enters a building to arrest a crime boss. henchmen try to kill the police.
@@jichnun as I said... Similar premise but totally different feel. I enjoyed both. Didn't feel like watching the same movie. Also, I believe Dredd is not a ripoff of Raid cuz it is supposed to be a remake of 1995 movie Judge Dredd.
I have already wathced and loved many of these
Robert McCall in The Equalizer was an ex Marine sergeant, and had a skill set a mile long. It was so fun to see him use it in the movie!
Baby Driver is so good just on the driving itself
here's my - must see before u go to heaven - list
Die Hard
The Matrix
Judgment day
Terminator
Saving Private Ryan
Kill Bill
Dredd
The Bourne Identity
Mad Max: Fury Road
Speed
Independence Day
Back to the Future
Dredd , back to the future , Independence Day ... no way ...
I haven't seen many of those movies, but 'John Wick' and 'The Equalizer' were two of my favorites.
Great list.
Edge of Tomorrow.....damn good.
Hey, why no mention of Mad Max Fury Road????
Die hard, t2, lethal weapon, predator, kill bill, true lies, heat and mad Max fury road not on your list? Glad to see equilizer. Underrated film
Kung fu hustle has it all... Love it!!!!
Awesome list...I am happy to say I have seen them and own them all! However John Wick and IP Man franchise seem to be the ones that are rewatched the most
7:06 Jackie broke his foot on that landing, but went on to finish the movie.
broke his ankle one day, jumped off a roof and through a window the next.
John Wick and Edge of tomorrow... Thank you! 😉😊❤😄
Great list. I've seen most of them. They are surprisingly well made but underrated films.
Awesome! I've seen and own this whole list except for First Blood.
Edge of Tomorrow is so good. The first movie I re-watched right after finishing the first viewing since The Dark Knight.
Where did I get plzzz
I have some found Memories of Kung Fu Hustle. Actually watched that with my martial arts team. Every time someone did some fancy moves, we'd be daring our team captain to try it.
Ong Bak was the main reason I frequently visited the guidance counselor back when I was in elementary school.
good list - EoT is great, Wick is so frikin awesome.
The Equalizer was one of my favorite shows growing up. Barely remembered...blah.
it was a great show with great acting
How much wood would Edward Woodward chuck,If Edward Woodward would chuck wood?
Masterpiece Movies i love that
The movie was awesome !!
@@nigelhickman2274 As much wood he Edward Woodward could if he, Edward Woodward, could chuck Wood. Then the person who owned the wood would hollar, "Hey you dang Edward Woodward, quit chucking my wood." Edward Woodward would then chuck another piece of wood, then giggle.
Smokin Aces, The Last Stand, Mad Max: Fury Road, and Rambo: Last Blood.
Yes! I have watched each at least twice.
Right on !
Surprised that none of the Bourne movies, transformers, Pacific rim, 300, avengers, Thor, braveheart, the dark knight didn't make the list.
That is a basic problem with lists: They are highly subjective and you won't find a list that all human beings on earth agree with. I like to take them as recommendations to watch a movie, not a challenge for discussion about the best movies. And I personally like undervalued recommendations more than "Avengers", for example. Because I have seen Aengers and I guess most people who like action movies have. But District 13? not so many
@@DunkelheitVZ well by the caption of this video it's misleading to some. Even though district 13 was great
😍😍😍i loves kung fu hustle
shaolin soccer is way better
TheAlbaner990 yes👌👌👍 . great great movie
So glad to see SOOO many great movies in this list!!!
Solid list
The Equalizer is a vaguely remembered series... how vary dare you... it's a classic...
You got it wrong. Rambo's Cornell didn't come to save Rambo from himself or the authorities, he came to save them from Rambo...
LOL yeah he got a lot wrong.
And it didn’t work Rambo won
I'll give you a war you won't believe. Best movie ever
Sure did.. if he didn't come Rambo would have taken the whole state on his own lool
Edge of Tomorrow is a MASTERPIECE
Good list
They were on the tops of bamboo. Not trees.
Vanger48912 does it really matter? They were in the tops of something green doing amazing things. The green stuff doesn't change the action, stunts or cinematography.
Best fight film ever
Zero graphics
The raid ❤️🔥
Every last one of these movies are GOLD!!! I freaking love Mads acting! He's just amazing!
Good list. Have seen most.
Die Hard 1 should be here. It is widely considered the best action movie of all time
Best action movie? close, but nah. Best Christmas movie? Hell yes
You misspelled T2: Judgement Day. Which is wideRly considered.
Nah, A Christmas movie
No T2,Die Hard,Robocop, lethal weapon, Predator, Big trouble in Little China, Aliens, Deathwish, Delta force,Hard to kill?
You got some solid martial arts movies on here, but my favorite is Fearless with Jet Li. One of the most interesting and epic martial arts movies I have ever seen, plus the theme of the movie is one that can apply to anyone. Great fights, great story, great characters. Watch the movie if you haven't already.
Gd selections.
I'm quite shocked , i actually agree with most of these
C'mon no Die Hard? What abt Predator, Lethal Weapon, The Running Man. Hell, I would even throw some Snipes movies in there over some these picks. Like Blade or Passenger 57. And did everyone forget about Jean-Claude Van-Damme?!! I'm pretty sure something from him could make this list.
The Equalizer was originally A BBC production. They get the years right when they from the 80's but was not a CBS show until 2021.
The original was never cheesy.
'Fearless' feat. Jet Li is a must watch! Great true story and incredible fighting scenes!
Mad Max Fury Road!???
Robocop, aliens, starship trooper, predator, terminator...
Agreed!
Hoooo.. starship trooper was my fav.. good ol days
i agree with you. totally worth watching
Good list: Just kinda wanted to add.... The Purge "Implausible concept??" I can't remember what the festival was called. But, ancient Rome actually had an annual festival that was almost undeniably the inspiration for the "Purge" movies. People have been crazy for a long time. LOL
Did you actually watched 'The Equalizer' TV series? I did, way back in the 80's and I watched the reruns recently. The show is a bit dated but to call it cheesy is really, really dumb! It's a good action TV series and can hold its own against more recent action TV shows.
The raid 1&2 was so epic
Got to agree, the stunt work and fighting scenes best ever.
Edge of Tomorrow was brilliant... I went in with zero expectations and I was blown away. And Guardians of the Galaxy is just hilarious.
Baby Driver is the Fast and Furious movie we used to love.
I've seen all of these except The Purge - which I refuse to watch.
Is it bad?
@@Harry-bs1qg it's worth watching.
Your loss lol
@@dayjayplays2829 what is ?
I'm surprised Mad Max: Fury Road wasn't included.
Fury road was fkn horrible couldn't even finish watching it.
@@bustarogers9990 u got no taste brotha!!
@@pedatrivedi6523 I agree

Or Road Warrior for that matter.
i am nearly the end of the video and have seen all theese ,i am blessed xd. great list
So I have watched 11 out of 18. Never realized I've been a movie fanatic til this day. 😁😁😁
shaolin soccer is greatest steven chow movie of all time hands down
Kung Fu Hustle is awesome!
Loved it
The Equalizer was a British TV series in the 60's starring Edward Woodward who was I believe was classically trained, his character was trained in all the arts befitting a black ops hero, Denzel Washingtons portrayal of the hero was excellent would like to see more of these as long as the content was not diluted too much.
- FaceOff
- The Raid
- Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
- John Wick
- Baby Driver
- Rogue One
- Edge Of Tomorrow
- GoTG
- District 13
- Ong Bak : Thai Warrior
- Rumble in the Bronx
- Casino Royale
- Ip Man
- Dredd (The reboot)
- KungFu Hustle
- First Blood
- The Purge:Election Yrars
- The Equaliser
Can you do a Why we never got to see The Italian Job 2?
Vulcan Short video. Really short...
I’ve seen all but 3 and I’m going to watch them this weekend
I believe that the 2010 film, "THE MAN FROM NOWHERE"," is a must see option, too. This is a great list.
