    Uncle Paul absolutely KILT that role -- brilliant in every scene. My faves are the slap scene after BIlly Bats, the "gotta turn my back on ya" scene, & that look in the courtroom

    Paul Sorvino played a Mafia Shylock(Bookie) in a "The Gambler" with James Caan. Great movie.

    He had a "small" role in terms of the amount of time he was on screen in that movie but he was still one of the scariest people in that film. If Jimmy and Tommy's crazy asses were afraid of Paulie you knew he was not to be messed with. Great actor. RIP

    I loved Sorvino on Law and Order, so I was very disappointed when he left that show.
    However, he absolutely nailed his part in Goodfellas. Great line about his character was "Paulie walked slow because he didn't have to walk fast."

      I m in a lounge/restaurant in NYC doing my thing in the bathroom and I hear a guy say for a place with 12$ drinks you would think it would have a clean bathroom. I look up and it’s Paul savino. And he was right. The bathroom was a mess.

      One of the two best scenes on the show was robbing the train of the methylene. Other one was one with Gus, Mike and Jesse in Mexico.

      U got associates at the bottom that haven't been made or took the oath yet , then u have the Made men ( mafia Soldiers) then u have the Capo's ( Captain of a crew of mafia soldiers) then u have the Consigleare (the Don's right hand man) then u have the Underboss (second to only the Don) & then u have the Don (boss of the entire family)

    He was most powerful when quiet with that menacing look he gave sitting outside eating before he slaps Henry. What a scene; What a film! Thank you Martin Scorsese; you should have won the Academy Award for this picture.

    Lol, I just rewatched Oh God! and was surprised to see Paul as the pastor. I hadn't seen the movie since 1980, and always remembered a line he did, "You could say I _looooove_ that little doggie in the window."
    Didn't put two and two together until 44 years later.

    The guy in that scene with Paulie, Tony Darrow was actually mobed up in real life he associated with the Gambino family.He was active long after Goodfellas. He was arrested in 2007 for extortion and ordering a guy hurt cause he owed a loan shark money.

    The shot with Paul Sorvino wearing the pale blue suit and talking about "assembly" is from the 1977 film "Oh God!" where he played a corrupt Southern Baptist evangelist. Sorvino was brilliant in the role and owned every scene he was in, considering he was sharing the screen with George Burns, John Denver, Teri Garr, and Robert Pleasence. Directed by the late, great Carl Reiner.

    The story Bill was talking about where Paul scared himself in the mirror was so douchey if you actually saw it.
    Paul Sorvino said that during an interview for a documentary or something. That line always stuck with me because I thought, “Who the hell scares their self just by looking in the mirror?” Such a bs story. Lol

    Why the cigar? I remember my uncle was an ex heroine addict he smoked as a vice for decades. Everyone knew his struggle but he was such a decent cool man to shoot the shit with. Everyone knew the old man with the cigar tucked in the corner of his mouth. Nowadays it seems like guys just want that status of guy with constant cigar in hand.

    I heard Sorvino tell this story. He was amazing in the role. But I thought Burr was going to 💩 all over him for being a pretentious actor. Who scares themselves in the mirror?! Check the clip where Sorvino tells the tale at a Goodfellas panel. Deniro almost rolls his eyes bc he’s heard that story 1000x.
