    I used to love broccoli in my twenties and put it in every supper until I developed an intolerance to it at 27. Overnight, it started giving me terrible stomach aches. I subsequently read a paper from 2010 which found that mature broccoli can aggravate gastritis (which I subsequently developed, so I might have had it even then). Broccoli sprouts, though, can help to heal gastritis! So for anyone who can't eat broccoli but wants to benefit from its array of nutrients, the sprouts might be a good alternative. They are for me.

      Rose Viola I prefer the broccoli sprouts as well. I grow them myself at home. Easy peasey!

    I keep seeing this add with the ship that goes around helping people who have deformed parts of their bodies. It is wonderful that they do this. My questions is how do these people get this way in the first place? Maybe it is the polluted water that they drink? It 's not clear although it says clear water on the side of the add. However, they never mention it in the add. I wish they would if this is the case.

      I read your comment before that part came up in the video. It was the funnest thing ever. She has a point. Frying your taste buds with hot sauce will make anything taste like, well, hot sauce. Good belly laugh.

    I am so going to make this....I have a question about cooking the veggies for such a long time...can you cook the veggie separate and then add the cooked oats to it at the end.????......or do they have to cook together to incorporate the flavor of the veggies into the oats? Thanks

  • @Equinox1.5
    @Equinox1.5 5 років тому +6

    I wonder if just a small squeeze of lemon juice might add something, instead of more hot sauce? It's my godmother's trick if she doesn't want to add too much salt and it works.

    I was so inspired by this that I paused it about halfway through and ran to the store to pick up the few things I didn't already have. I quartered the recipe since it's only me tonight. I threw it together and cleaned the kitchen while it simmered. This is soooooo good. Thanks for demonstrating your recipes. I never would have tried and would have missed out on a new favorite. My this is delicious. AND you have to tell us what you read, Ann.

    Looks delicious! Do you ever cook lentils ? Its my favorit I make a lentil stew with beluga lentils veggie broth caramelized onions red and green bell pepper cut in large bites crushed garlic and 1/2 tsp thyme , lots of smoked paprika i add 2 tbsp of it which is the key note to the stew at the end add pepper and salt if you use it. ( crushed tomatoes and balsamic vinegar gives a rreally good flavor in the stew

    I want to thank you and your mom. The recipes that you make look so delicious, I made the lemon tofu pudding, I think that was the name, and it was really good. I have been turned off by the vegan lifestyle because these people look so bad, I think that the young people are going to extremes and not eating vegan, whole food plant based properly, they seem to be losing their minds. But you and your mom look so healthy, and the both of you are not overly thin, you look well nourished. You are doing something right and have been doing it for years. I just wonder why the other people who claim to eat healthy do not follow your lead. I have tried the keto diet, the low carb diet , mainly for diabetes, but it leaves my stomach upset, running to the bathroom because I cannot eat that much fat, it really bothers my stomach and I am thinking of giving the whole food plant based diet another try. I did it before and my stomach issues went away, but I did not stick with it. Again I would like to thank you two and your family for what you are doing and I hope this makes sense, but the way you look, it does not scare me off but make me want to delve into this way of eating again

    • @forreal245

      Fat is horrible for everyone. Plant-based takes a lot of dedication & work....running to the store to get fresh all the time & preparation time so it's easy to tire of plant-based quickly. My hubby is diabetic & he is finally eating fresh fruit...whatever is in season is best. Be sure to eat oatmeal & GROUND flaxseed. Refrigerate the flaxseed! Good luck.
