As a reminder, Naofumi’s voice actor was changed this season. Billy Kametz, Naofumi’s VA for the first season, announced that he was taking a break to deal with a diagnosis of stage four colon cancer.
EDIT: As many have mentioned, he passed away on June 9, 2022.
If that is why the dub as taken so long to be made I will 100% forgive crunchy roll that’s so sad for billy
I will miss him as Naofumi, but Stephen Fu sounds like he's doing a goof job so far
The new voice actor honestly sounds robotic and lacks any of the mannerisms that make naofumi himself like u can clearly hear how the lines would sound coming from naofumi and he dropped the ball big time imo

I'm not really a devout orthodox religious person but I sincerely pray that Billy Kametz recovers from his cancer 100% and can come back to voice acting real soon as I genuinely liked him a lot as Naofumi.
Till then I'll continue to support his new voice actor as that is what Billy had asked us to do in his health update video.

In fact, I think that Stephen is doing well, he might try to be a bit like Billy's version of Naofumi at first, but as the episode continued he's starting to bring in his own version of Naofumi's voice.

Couldn't agree with you more,
his performance is the main reason I decided to give the dub a shot and after watching the entire season 1 dubbed,
I can't imagine anyone else besides Billy as Naofumi.
I really hope he comes back soon.

Yeah, he's doing a good job filling in for Billy so far but I really hope Billy heals and returns as Naofumi.
We already lost Chris Ayres to cancer, I don't want to lose anyone else.
P.S Chris Ayres was the one who voiced Frieza in Dragon Ball Z and Super.

I'm sure I gonna miss Billy Kametz as Naofumi's voice to this season but I'm glad that Crunchyroll never disappoint me, Stephen Fu is doing a great job as Naofumi's voice to this season.. Even if Naofumi's voice actor has changed, it doesn't change the fact that this is still an awesome series
Edit: Today, we lost a great man ladies and gentleman. Billy Kametz, Naofumi’s original voice actor, has passed away from stage IV colon cancer at the age of 35. He was beloved by many, myself included, and will be deeply missed. RIP Mr. Kametz

But this will never not be hillarious to me. She didn't need to do that to be Naofumi's "sword"

Ok so im confused, i thought the cardinal weapons made it so that you couldn't hold any other type of weapon other then your cardinal weapon, but Naofumi is clearly holding a knife right here (14:38). Can his sheild sense that he was just going to peel carrots with it and allowed him to hold it or what?
In the novel the rule says that the heroes can't hold other weapons with the intent to fight with them. But they can hold them if not
