- I couldn't find this uploaded, yet, though probably because I didn't look very hard. XD
This specific moment comes from Season 3, Episode 6.
This conversation made me catch feels, so I wanted to upload it here.
If for some reason you haven't watched "The Rising of the Shield Hero", I HIGHLY recommend you to do so. You're unlikely to regret it. :3

Trash is one of the best characters in the series. He starts out an insufferable jerk, but he really grows to an invaluable ally at the end. His journey as a character is incredible.
Needs to atone for being such a prick.
He's also proof that the people who won't let go of a character's past, believing they couldn't possibly have changed, are full of it. It honestly bugs me how many people seem to hate the concept of a redemption arc when it's a very interesting way of moving a narrative forward since such change is a very important part of human nature 🤔
I still hate him for stealing everything, making a life miserable and try to kill naofumi
@@alexspyro563 Malty is the real villain behind everything, and she is even worse than you think she is, trust me she is the worst kind of villain there is. Trash has his personal reason for disliking the shield hero, not Naofumi personally because the shield is the diety for his hated enemies who took his beloved little sister and he believed they graped and killed her.
It turns out she actually had a decent life and had two children, Fohl and Atla. Atla apparently is the spitting image of his sister except as a hakuko demihuman. Both Trash and Mirelia recognized her.
In the end, Trash redeems himself by taking up the strategist role and proves a very capable and reliable ally getting them through the final waves which are absolutely insane! He also disowns Malty and blasts her with his magic telling her "you are no daughter of mine!". Better late than never I guess.

Melty: "Hey, what about when he protected me from my psycho sister!"

Melty: He protected me against my sister!
Trash: Didn't ask, don't care, go away, Blue.
Trash: Yes, of course, Melty. I should've known Malty..... I mean... Bitch was the real demon.

Trash just realized it but those two are his niece and nephew.
For those who haven't read the light novel Trash had a sister who left for the prince of Siltvelt. However a third party made Trash think his sister was kidnapped by Silvelt and started a war. His sister barley survived the war but died later and Trash thought she the children died in the war which made him and Melromarc distrust all demi-humans. With the revelation that his niece and nephew survived and are now in the care of Naofumi will cause Trash to do a major rethink of his actions.

"Maybe he isnt so bad" is that hes thinking. Took you this much evidence to clear up a preconceived notion? Especially one with the main thread of evidence being proven a lie long ago?
The past trauma can leave scars so great not even time can fully heal. But a wake up call like this can remind you of what’s truly important
@@ZephyrBW I feel all scars can heal. Forgiveness is always better than revenge. Letting go of the pain can feel like giving up on what you lost, but for the sake of who you are you cannot hold onto what no longer is. Those who try to are definitely warped by that, but I feel all can come to heal those scars completely.

@@thefinesthobbo4524 "Forgiveness is always better than revenge"... while I will agree with you to a point on this, however in a lot of these cases we confuse revenge for a more self-destructive form of anger. See revenge is when you get back at the person or persons that harmed you, Assuming a shield hero before Naumi did do the things Trash accuses them of doing, that has nothing to do with him, so it's not exactly revenge that is at fault here.
He just never understood how different Naofumi was from the previous Shield Hero since the King aka Trash wanted revenge on the Shield Hero for his family's death by the Shield Hero's Demi Human Rebellion

For those that like to dunk on Aultray/"trash"....DO try to remember he was being manipulated by a GOD OF BETRAYAL. Malty/"B****" is literally her avatar. She has very little choice in what she does...and it's also why she is so CONSISTANTLY backstabbing. Now whether this will ever be adapted fully from the manga/light novel versions to anime is still up in the air...but he was being played on an epic level by a being who has done this sort of thing for centuries, if not millennia (and quite possibly on multiple worlds). and unlike his daughter, he LEARNS. So cut the poor cuckolded fella some slack.

I read the whole LN. Knew she was a godlike being. I didn't know it was specifically the god of betrayal.
What happened to aultcary sister wasn't right but what he did to the innocent humans and demi humans and naofumi and raphtalia make him no better because all he did was making suffer the same way he did and he stated that he acknowledges his actions were questionable and wrong but he truly believes that he was protecting his family and his country and to a certain level maybe it was true but it doesn't justify what he did regardless and he failed as a father because he spoiled myne a lot she became evil and that on him and he needs to accept that he is not the innocent or victim or noble one but a true asshole/corrupt king who almost either made his country face a war against the world or suffer and die because of his ignorance ways
After the first season I went online and learned that after his wife and niece unjustly got killed he finally seen the error of his ways and I glad he became a good guy but not this way and he finally put his first daughter in her place
Honestly he really needs to get over the goddamn shield hero devil whatever. Besides trashy forgets he's the one that summoned him. I don't know what happened with the last former shield hero. He already knows he's doing some good in this world. Just want to be a ignorant fool and not admitted to himself.

He had the Shield Hero summoned specifically so that none of the other nations could do so (which was _not_ the agreement his wife worked out with their allies).
Also, his hatred of the Shield Hero stems from his hatred of demihumans, which itself stems from his parents being killed by demihumans during a war when he was a kid, and his beloved little sister being sold off into slavery. This led to a lifelong belief that demihumans were monsters that were out to get humans.
@@Thoralmir The worst part is Trash could have use the fact that he summum the shield hero in his advantage for revenge on the demi-humans.
Think about it: If Trash treated Nafumi the same way as the other heroes, he could have manipulated him to hate demi-humans as much as he does and turn him against them. That would defenetly destroy their fate in the shield hero... He would also have start another war with Sylvest but that was kinda already the case the moment he summuned the four heroes for himself so...

All of those trauma caused by demi-humans, now their god SA'ed your favorite daughter, his hate is understandable. What stops him from accepting Naofumi is actually a good guy is just his trauma, and I'd argue, his Stubborness and Pride too.
So, the Shield Hero before Naofumi... He wasn't really a bad person, but his choices and actions way back then - that he thought were the right thing to do at the time - ended up getting the King's sister killed?
@@VSaber365 No. Aultcray believed his sister was killed by a Demi, so he came to hate them, and by extension the Hero they worshipped.

I don't feel comfortable with his name change, and typically refer to people by the name they prefer to go by, when I can.
At any rate, there's no ambiguity by using his "old" name, so I don't see the problem. X3

I think it's a stupid reason but it is your reason especially because you added the part where he wants to be called that he's not a real person if you just said it was for clarity and left it at that I would have no problem.
