Learn How to Paint WINTER CARDINAL with Acrylic - Paint & Sip at Home - Fun Step by Step Tutorial
Вставка
- Опубліковано 27 жов 2021
- VIDEO DESCRIPTION - This painting tutorial will take you through easy to follow, step-by-step instructions on how to draw and paint this realistic seasonal animal portrait image of "WINTER CARDINAL" with acrylic paint. You'll learn simple painting techniques that will help you to create this festive snowy landscape image with a radiant red birdie sitting on a lamppost in the middle of a snow storm as he curiously looks off into the distance. This inspirational bird sits firmly perched with his head looking over his shoulder while the snow falls on him and the wrought iron lantern. Surrounded by snow flakes of all different sizes, the light glows from inside the foggy glass of the antique style outdoor light, which adds to the ambiance of the atmosphere in this winter wonderland. You'll learn how to create dimension in the shape of the bird with a simple layering technique to create contour shadows and highlights that will define the form of the body, beak and head. You'll also learn how to create realistic looking texture in the snow with three different application processes. Use your imagination and customize this to resemble your favorite winter bird, make it an owl, grosbeak, bunting, goose or even a finch, or put a female cardinal as his mate on the pole. You could even customize the lamp structure to be wooden, or put a flame in it, or maybe turn it into a mailbox. The point is to just have fun with it! With snow falling in the sky and piling up on the decorative lamp, you'll be able to paint this image that will be a little magical and realistic at the same time, making for a beautiful painting to decorate your home for the winter holiday season. Some believe this to be a spiritual bird that symbolizes and represents devotion, loving relationships, courtship, and monogamy. Using only 3 brushes and 5 colors we'll create this conversational masterpiece with a crisp winter chill and an adorable, sweet, charming and handsome feathered animal as he is showing us just how much he loves this cold weather. So let's get painting and let's get sipping!

You have a natural ability to teach as well as talk to people in a positive way. You explain as well as provide options for deviation from your design. As a retired manager, this speaks volumes to me. I am becoming addicted to watching you paint as well as listening to your narrative You have my attention and I can easily follow your thinking.
Michelle, you always made painting fun. I have been in the hospital and wasn't able to paint I didn't think I would be able to paint again because I lose all feeling in my legs. I had fallen and landed on my tailbone. I've had two back surgeries and the doctors gave me no hope. But I'm so thankful that I can walk now. The first thing I wanted to paint was the crazy birds. You are a wonderful teacher and I love your laugh and the joy you bring with painting. So glad to see you out of the hospital. I trust you are doing well. Thank you for sharing your experience and talent with us
God bless!
I glad to hear that you have recovered and are doing better. Thank you for painting along with me and I wish you the best with your healing.
I’ve just finished this and I’m super proud of myself. You’re a great teacher. It made it easy for me to follow your instructions.
I love cardinal paintings. I will be doing this tonight. Appreciate you so much
Love it..my grandson loves wen I paint birds..

I just finished this cardinal tutorial and it was so much fun!! I love the way you teach us to draw the figures instead of tracing them, as my drawing isn’t great! Thank you so much Michelle!!
You are so welcome! And thank you for watching!
❤️😘
Michelle are an amazing teacher and your videos are fun to watch and follow along. Your tutorials are very well put together and not overly complicated. I started this tutorial with a lot of doubt in my skills but wanting to improve. OMG! I was very, very much surprised in myself and happy with the outcome! It's funny the whole time, I didn't think I was doing well and then I stepped back from the painting and it was like magic!!! It's a great feeling to be complimented on a piece of art that you have created. Thank you for showing me (and so many others) that painting doesn't have to be complicated and can be very fun and rewarding. Thank you!
Thank you so much!
Love you painting.
I did it! I just finished! I've watched several of your classes and enjoy them all. I've wanted to paint a bird for some time now, but didn't feel I had the skills, yet! I sooo enjoyed the entire process. I learned so much! I am excited to have done this, and happy with the results. Thank you very much for your tutorials, encouragement and helping us beginners gain confidence. I am looking forward to starting another. Much appreciation.
Thank you!
Thank You for sharing so many tips. Being that clear when you explain is helping a lots. I will try this wonderful painting at home. Cardinal is the bird that's reminding me of my brother who past away a few years ago at the early age of 64... I will try to paint this wonderful piece of art, in his memory. I love watching everytime you Sip and Paint, you are so easy to follow and your way to share is unbeleivable. THANK YOU, big hugs Xo
That's wonderful Rachel! I wish you the best and I'm sure you will honor your brother.

Michelle, I finished this one today and then took a break and went on FB and saw the gift giving gnome. Don't think I'll ever catch up BUT it's going to be fun trying. Thank you for all your hard work and effort that goes into teaching how to paint. ❤
Thanks for painting along with me, maybe you will catch up someday! lol
Omg I love this painting 🎨😍 I did the double decker birdhouse with the 2 Cardinals that you did and now I have to do this one so I have both of them 😁. They will look so great hanging together 😊. That is exactly what I do.
As I'm following along, a question pops up in my mind, and it's like you read my mind and you automatically explain what I was questioning. You do a magnificent job of presenting, answering questions (that you don't even know I'm asking), providing alternatives and options... you're just amazing. Thank you for all your hard work.
Thank you!
Amazing drawing . Its look like real 😉😉
Beautiful
Thank you, my favorite art teacher! Chrissy and I painted this picture yesterday and my hubby says it's fantastic. It was relaxing to paint and we didn't have to remind each other to breath during the process.
Well I guess when you're able to breath without someone reminding you, than it was a successful painting adventure! Thanks for watching! ~Michelle

My daughter and I just finished the cardinal in the snow with the lantern. We enjoyed painting along with you and learned a lot.
Great job! I hope you two had fun!
Beautiful 🤩
Hello Ms Michelle! I have followed you even before I ever took a paintbrush in my hand. I became interested in art, I started with paint pouring, fluid art. Then I had rotator cuff surgery October ‘19 and could not tilt , not even lift the canvas anymore. But art was calling my name. I watched so many of your tutorials and wanted to try. But as a beginning beginning beginner( lol) I had to start with something easy. As I gained some “ experience”. I started to paint and sip with you!!! Thank you for putting in all that hard workin producing these beautiful videos. This one was my latest and I think my best. Yes, of course it still needs improvement but I’m happy and proud of it. Thank you so much. ❤️
So happy to hear that Serena! Great job and keep on painting!
Hallo liebe Michelle. Super tolles Video.
Liebe Grüße aus Deutschland
Ich danke dir sehr!
GORGEOUS!
You are so easy to understand, have been taking one step painting for a few years, had never painted prior to that but I can almost paint better doing it your way. Thank you for sharing your talent with us.
Wonderful! Thank you!
I painted this one yesterday! Everyone loves it! Thank you again for another beautiful one!
Nice! Glad to hear that!
Das Winterbild passt ja zur Jahreszeit! Gefällt mir! ❤️
So glad I found you!! Love your work and your a great teacher ❤
Thank you so much!
I just finished this painting. I've done maybe 4-5 other paintings with Michelle & she's my favorite teacher I've found! I'm okay with my finished product, but this was the absolute MOST frustrating painting I've ever done! I kept ruining it & ended up with paint on top of paint & i had to scrape it off & start over in some sections. I think a big part of the problem is that I used a tiny 5x7 canvas. I thought this might be a simple enough design that it wouldn't need that much space. IT may not need that much space, but I sure did! LOL! Thanks again Michelle. I do appreciate your tutorials & maybe one day, mine will look almost as good as yours. People love my paintings, but they haven't seen yours. Yours are so much better!
I've done the patriotic sunset (twice now on 2 different sizes - 8x10 & 18x24). They don't look the same, but they look great! I did the Autumn Dove, the Big Prize Pumpkin in the wagon with the kid pulling it, the farmhouse with matching birdhouse in a field of purple flowers (I changed them to a lighter violet color, added a loft window & a few other details) & I think I got the stairway to heaven from you, also. I have followed a few other tutorials & did really well ... eventually, I hope to be able to create my own unique pieces.
Thank you so much!
Very pretty! It is more detailed than it looks. I love how you add the special touches that makes the details pop. Much happiness, Teresa
Thank you!
Oh my gosh this is gorgeous!! Cardinals are my favorite and you have done a splendid job. I love how this looks on a gray background - or gray and brown muddled background. Thanks!!
Thank you so much!
Love to watch you paint I learn so much
Thank you!

Lovely, Michelle. Cardinal's are so regal and impressive looking. They always say a Cardinals appear when passed loved ones are near.
I have a mated pair that come back every year and nest in my Spruce tree. 😊
Good morning Gina, They are spectacular birds to see in person, especially the males. I've only seen a couple in real life. You're fortunate to have them nesting on your property... so cool! Thanks for watching and have fun painting! ~Michelle

Charming, it is like a holiday card😊
Thanks!
Well! I have just finished your video. What a great way to start my day. I started painting cardinals last year because my mom loved them so. She always had her Christmas tree full of red cardinals. So last year in her memory, I actually started painting them on...get this....chandelier crystals. These are very expensive crystals that were on my brother in laws mother's chandelier in their gorgeous home on Long Island. He brought the crystals to give to me so I painted cardinals sitting on branches in the snow for him ( my mom loved him) and my siblings. So everyone has that little piece of history from his parents home when he was growing up with the memory of our mom painted on them. I thought it was a special little something to do for everyone. Now some hang in a beautiful mansion in Georgia on up to our homes in West Virginia via Long Island. Lol.
Anyways, I love what I learned from you today about painting cardinals. I love how easy you made it. Perfect for beginners on up to someone who's been painting for more than 20 years like myself. I enjoyed your company, your instruction and your easy mannered personality. I'm definitely looking for more of your work. Thank you so much. Merry Christmas and God bless ❤️❄️☃️🎄🎨
Sorry for the loss of your mom but this is certainly a wonderful way to honor her memory. Happy to hear to enjoy painting cardinals because I've done quite a check. You could go to my playlist "Animals" and scroll through there see the several tutorials. I hope this helps and thank you for watching and sharing your story. Happy Holidays!
Absolutely love this, love the lamppost! It’s just Beautiful!!
Thanks so much! 😊
