Lots of UA-camrs are claiming that starting a new channel will be saturated and super difficult for new creators. The reason they say that is because they do not want you to take a piece of the cake. It will never be saturated and there's always more room for new creators. However I did notice that all the influencers are just keeping the real methods to themselves. I understood that after reading an eBook. No one is talking about how to outrank competitor videos, how to bring additional traffic outside YT, how to do proper off page SEO etc etc..

Its always fascinating to learn how much time these guys have dedicated to master the art of clickbate headlines, fast paced editing and visual effects to capture peoples attention span and exploit our hardwired vulnerabilities. It would be interesting to know do they ever feel guilt or deep concern about addicting so many people into watching literally billions of hours of mindless entertainment just for the small spike of dopamine, instead any true fulfillment or real lasting satisfaction.🤔
Seems like a taboo subject in these interviews - while being the most obvious one. Jimmy clearly seems to be bothered that people only order fast food from his restaurants that will give them brain cancer, heart disease and diabetes on a global scale, instead buying the healthy options that they have. Seems a bit weird thing to celebrate, get excited about and to be proud of in our culture. Being the predator who hooks school children into gambling, mobile games or sugar just for the better ROI.💸
As entertaining and captivating as these videos may be, nowadays internet addiction is a very real problem affecting millions/billions of people everyday. These digital replacement therapies on a screen rob millions people of their real life achievements, good health, meaningful connection, true love and other priceless things in life. Is it wise to exploit kids and teenagers by making this content as addictive as possible, and turn our vulnerable youth into braindead consumers with 4 second attention span, with no social skills, poor sleep, bad health and unable to focus on their school, career and life full of laughter, love and real adventures?🏝🏝

also lets not forget what social media is atm. its hella messed up and driven by kids, kids are easy to impress and abuse. many years ago none of the big youtube guys like him wouldve had this success if any at all.

His content was always a bit different from other UA-camrs, but the dedication and effort he puts into his videos compounded over time and here he is now. It's crazy that he went from reviewing random intros on UA-cam and making cringy jokes (which I still think are hilarious) in his bedroom to where he is now, accumulating tens of millions of views per video and collaborating with some of the biggest names on the platform. I don't really watch his videos as much anymore, especially since I'm busy with schoolwork and other stuff, but I still check back once in a while to see how Jimmy's doing and to get hit with some nostalgia when I hear the Mr. Beast song. @Freeman He got famous on a similar path to what agencies used to do for celebrities in the old days... Buy up all the magazines and newspapers that mention them, which caused the media to push their content. A celebrity whose tabloids sold out was more likely to have a poster more prominently placed at the movie theater for a movie featuring them. Manipulating the media isn't all high-tech. Of course, back then, some good crosscut shredders were necessary.

A missing piece of the puzzle of his success, that he probably doesn't even know, is that UA-cam heated his videos to help them go viral. It's a practice they've done behind the scenes for creators they want to support since the beginning of the platform.

    • @RichardHarlos
      @RichardHarlos Рік тому +359

Another missing piece of the puzzle, which few people seem to realize, is that 'success' has a context. And the context in which you arrive at 'success' says much more about you as a human being than how much money you made, and how quickly you made it. Consider...
What sort of person is likely to click on one of the examples that he gave in this video: 100-million orbies in a pool?
Not generally someone who's introspective... or who's likely to care about something beyond satisfying an impulse of attention deficit... or who sees that there are real problems -- BIG problems -- in the world and that every day they go unsolved, many people die. We're talking tens of thousands of people die EVERY DAY. Meanwhile, there are people who are being lauded for their success, perspective, drive, etc.
So then, the missing piece I'm alluding to is that this kind of success reduces to little more than psychological manipulation of those who are easily manipulated by triviality. In this context, one isn't 'gaming the algorithm' As Jimmy said in the interview, 'whenever you're using the word algorithm, replace it with the word audience; the algorithm didn't like it? no, the AUDIENCE didn't like it. So, again, it's not gaming the algorithm... it's gaming the audience. And not just any audience, but very specific psychological and intellectual profiles: easily distracted, attracted to sensationalism, etc.
From thumbnail to headline, he's not appealing to people who tend to be well-educated and socially conscientious. As well, the content of his videos -- while often heartwarming, such as when he awards a huge benefit to an individual -- aren't really solving any of the world's problems. He understands via collaboration how to appeal to the lowest common denominator in human nature, and that just happens to correspond to the largest segment of the population.
I'm not hating on Jimmy. He's clearly smart and driven, and he has done some good on a small scale. But essentially he's gaming his audience and they love him for it. But when you consider the implication that relates both to his audience and to his success... it starts to get pretty sketchy pretty quickly.

@@RichardHarlos this is pretty much true for all of social media, and it’s part of the problem. Success is in most cases defined by the ability to score a cheap dopamine hit in your audience, rather than to give them real substance. There certainly are lots of videos with substance that perform well, so it’s not like it can’t be done, but there is a certain degree of manipulation in creating success on social media in many cases. It certainly takes a certain kind of intelligence to tap into the types of things that will go viral, and I appreciate Mr Beast’s combination of intellect and creativity. However, not all things can be packaged in this way even if they do have substance or good quality to them.

The most admiring thing about Mr. Beast to me is his integrity and willingness to stay true to his word. When he says he’s going to do something…NO MATTER what it is…he’ll do it. He does not care one bit what others think, their criticisms of his decisions, or their attempts of trying to persuade him otherwise.
I remember one of his earliest videos was “I’m going to watch 10 straight hours of a dance compilation!!”
He sat in his room on his webcam, started the video which consisted of rapid scene changes, crazy editing and some weird “techno” song that never changed rhythm or beat or melody…and HE SAT THERE THE ENTIRE 10 HOURS. He never got up ONCE. He never paused the video, never went to the bathroom, didn’t show signs of discomfort really, yes he became super tired and bored but he didn’t “lose his mind!” Obviously there’s no way I watched all 10 hours, but you can jump ahead or scroll to the end and you see it’s real and he really did sit there for 10 hours straight. It’s an absolute mastery display of patience, tolerance and dedication.
Jimmy, as shy and awkward as he can be at times, is an absolute BEAST of a man! Hence the name. This man is just getting started surprisingly. He’s still SO YOUNG and has this much influence and power. I see him becoming a very important person in the our future.

I appreciate his perspective on how having the right group of friends can really help you improve your content and learn from each other's mistakes.
MrBeast's approach to creating viral videos is also intriguing, and I think his advice on matching and exceeding viewer expectations is spot on. It's important to give viewers a reason to click on your video, but it's even more important to deliver on those expectations and give them something unexpected and exciting.
Overall, I think MrBeast is an incredibly talented and hard-working UA-camr who has earned his success through his dedication and willingness to learn from his mistakes. It's inspiring to hear his story and I'm excited to see what he comes up with next.

I think he's a pretty decent dude, but there's really not many of us, whether we have the desire or not, who could be working on or focused on UA-cam or content to the degree he's talking about. That takes a lot of time. He mentions being on a skype call from 7AM to 10PM. If you're someone who has to work and go to school full time, that's unrealistic and I think it's SOOOOO important to make that part of the discourse when talking about success like this. You have to already have a support system and some safety set up to be able to dedicate the kind of time being spoken about. It's awesome he's had that, but it's really got to be a bigger part of the overall conversation.

    Great information.
The first point about working and learning with friends is so true. In 2004, when I was learning to play poker, no one that I knew played or was interested. It was before the NL craze. But there were lots of groups of young male players that were learning together. They discussed everything and did also speak on Skype ( sometimes when they were playing online unfortunately) and they all learned quickly. It took me much longer working alone. Hardly any women played then and almost none my age did. It's a huge advantage to be learning with a group of likeminded people. I think it will be easier to find UA-cam friends now to learn with.

Starting a UA-cam channel nowadays is getting harder and harder with more and more strict regulations, especially for beginner UA-camrs and their super small channels. small capital, little experience, and little knowledge besides that chasing 4000 broadcast hours is also not easy for the children's content niche. What do you think is the way that motivates us to continue working? Please your advices

For what I understood by his saying, being regular and keeping your core skills in the video is the top notch stuff, even if you blow up in a single video, what is the gaurantee that you will doing the same in the next video, thank you bro for such an inspirational video!

"Anytime you hear the word algorithm just replace it with audience" so true

  • @BoundLunar

I’m fully convinced success on yt has nothing to do with algorithm and everything to do with making content people actually like, it’s harder for smaller creators to get out there because people don’t trust a small channel with low view counts but if you make a piece of content people are actually interested in they’ll watch. Trust the process
