All you have to do is make a new Facebook account and app share so you can keep all your games
@@Bloody-Bun how about the much simpler route and I factory reset my headset? Why the fuck would I make another Facebook account just to access games on my main account? That also doesn't help me pair my phone to my headset. Fixed the problem myself right after posting this, 3 weeks ago, if you don't know anything about tech don't chime in, you and the guy that made this video.

@@MrBanditsGhost I just factory reset my headset with the boot menu powering it off and holding down both the volume down and power Button. It will turn on and show you a menu. From there. I just factory reset my shit and have been great eber since.
This video is a perfect example of why we need a dislike counter back instead of having to grab extensions to see them.

One way to fix is to do what @Tyler commented below (read replies to comment). Factory reset the headset. This worked for me. Steps to reproduce my specific scenario:
- Switched headset on for first time and followed the steps until I needed to connect to phone app
- Downloaded app. Followed prompts. Time to connect to headset. -> Doesn't even find the headset (will admit, I was stingy with the permissions).
- Uninstalled app.
- Reinstalled app.
- Accept all permissions (unwillingly).
- Time to connect to headset -> It recognizes the headset, but doesn't accept the code provided by the headset.
- Factory reset headset (press volume-down and power simultaneously for a couple of seconds.. like 5 seconds or something).
- Plugged charger into headset.
- Followed steps until I needed to connect to phone. Gave me the same code as before, but connected successfully.
- DONE.

Agree w/ the many comments that stated ... you really said a whole lot of nothing.
Even if you factory reset, uninstall and reinstall the app, and make sure you allow facebook to know everything about you ever (allow the app to access lots of data, which is a requirement), I think the answer is that your phone just isnt cutting it. Try on somebody elses phone or connect a samsung with USB-C and connect the headsets charger to your phones charging port. Make sure bluetooth is on. If your on iPhone, try going to bluetooth settings and deleting the info for the oculus and try the code again.
Based on what I gathered for hours, these seem to be the definitive fixes, not standing near your router or learning how to type a password.
Comment if you had any other solutions that worked so other distraught owners can have a better time
edit: If you have terrible internet and terrible phone combo (like me) try going to a place with a good connection

Oculus is paired. I'm in the same room as my router. Bluetooth is turned on on both my phone and Oculus.

I had to factory reset mine before it would pair. Same wifi, tried the code 20+ times, NOTHING worked. After factory reset it auto detected the f**king code and paired instantly. I changed NO SETTINGS. If you're getting real f**king tired of all these troubleshooting guides telling you it's user error, you're right.

I figured out how to fix this issue. To do this, you'll have to factory reset your headset. You can factory reset it by holding the power button and the volume button at the same time for about 45 seconds. It will pull up a small menu and you use the volume button to control your selection and the power button to select your option. After you redo the setup process, your headset will automatically connect to the app when you're setting them both up.
The problem with this solution is it deletes all of your data. Every app and all of its data will be deleted. This isn't a huge problem because if you sign into the account you made your purchases on, you can reinstall your apps. This way, you don't have to purchase them all. However, if you don't have your accounts information and can't login, you can't recover your purchases. I hope this helps someone.

I fixed this. For me I discovered during the migration Meta had created a second account which used an old email address (idk why??) I mistakenly linked my facebook account to it. When I log into the oculus app, I used logon with facebook, which in turn logged into the synced second meta account. This was not the one I originally used to setup my quest and thus would NEVER pair as per comments here. I tried logging into the oculus app using email instead. This logged into the original oculus/meta account which I setup my headset with. I was then able to pair using the code in the settings screen. I can now cast which I couldn’t before. I then removed the duplicate (not working meta account). Hope this works for some.

My issue I’m having is I already deleted app and reinstalled logged in everything is connected wifi and all and when I choose my quest 2 then it tells me the 5 digit code and then it just dosent connect it just takes for ever just shows loading sign or sometimes it just says try again. So idk what else to do.

@@lynnlynn2079 yes! Customer support called me, factory reset your oculus by holding the power button and the volume down button and select factory reset. Once you’ve done that and it turned back on, don’t do anything else on the headset. Go to your meta quest mobile app and pair the headset. In the directions it tells you to make sure they are both connected to the same WiFi network, but that isn’t necessary for setup apparently. You don’t need to select the language or any of that before you pair it. It’s that simple, and it should be clearly stated somewhere in the instructions. I hope this helps!🙂
For iphone, go to Bluetooth settings, click info on the oculus, and press "forget device.". Then go back to oculus app. Should connect.

I’ve tried to pair it so many times, but when I put in the code it just says “pairing your headset” for like a bajillion hours
None of these worked. I am on the same Wi-Fi, next to the wireless router. The app on the phone is updated, the oculus is updated. It asks me for a pairing code. The pairing code is in the about settings. I type the code in. It asks me to unlock the oculus, so I do so. And nothing it never works. It also doesn’t cast to the tv or the computer no matter what I do. What the fuck is going on??

All mine does is wait for my phone to pair with it through the code. I can’t go through the quest and do anything else, including checking how its internal wifi reception is. Am I missing something other than what its own troubleshoot instructions say about checking the wifi connection?

The thing is, it says it’s pairing with my quest 2 and it’s not my first time, I recently made or added a new account to my quest 2 and pair it with that, so I did, my 5 digit code didn’t work so I went to the about and put in the pairing code and then it said “pairing with headset” and it was stuck saying that FOR 3 HOURS ARE YOU PAIRING OR NOT OCULUS LIKE WTF
EDIT: ok guys I fixed the pairing problem but... I had to do a factory reset to it, I'm not sure if there's any other way or this is just a glitch in oculus

@@alecmartin1084 sorta, it just wiped everything in the headset like it was when you first got it, nothing is there but your purchases and games are linked into your oculus account so if you sign back in it will say that some games are already purchased from oculus so it will say if you want to install those games

The issue a friend of mine is having, is that she gets a code number that she needs to input on her phone to fully connect her oculus, but nothing happens, it just wont connect with the code. Is there a way to bypass that? she tried factory reset on her phone and oculus, as well as removing the oculus from the phone app.

I currently don’t remember my unlock pattern, which means I need my pin to reset it. I had to reset my pin, and now my headset won’t connect to my oculus mobile app, therefore I can’t reset my unlock pattern, it makes me PUT IN THE UNLOCK PATTERN THAT I FORGOT, to connect. *Ahem* to those who have Samsung phones you can TAKE THE CHARGER FOR THE OCULUS PLUG IT IN YOUR OCULUS AND PLUG IT INTO YOUR PHONE
The problem for me is I got a new headset because my other broke and my old controllers are not connected to the new one, so now I can't put on wifi on it, because I can't pull the paper out of the controllers. and also the logo is the old oculus logo not the meta one, so idk if its on a old version or something, either way I can't put wifi on without controllers and pairing does nothing, but I think pairing would work if the wifi was on.
Should I return it again but with the controllers. Another entire month. ;-;
I have this exact issue, can’t pair because I’m stuck in a loop of trying to pair but then the process resets because of the “update your headset” pop up. Puts me in a endless loop of not being able to pair

my oc 2 connects to my phone sometimes. alot of times it doesn't. i reset it, uninstalled the app and reset the wifi and both are on the same wifi. i'm returning it to amazon for a new one. i also can't connect my oc2 to my smart tv. i can connect the app on my phone to my smart tv by smart view.

Really... the only "not completely obvious problems" he stated was making sure the phone and headset are on the same network connection. So only 3 seconds of this video was slightly helpful. The other 99% was just garbage.
Ok I’ve found a way so when u get your oculus pull the little black things under the controllers that should make the controllers work. Now it’s gonna show a blue button like a continue symbol press the trigger on any of the controllers to continue. Then what it’s gonna ask you to do is show you a introduction video watch it then it’ll want you to connect your Wi-Fi. Once you do that it will probably update. After the update it’s gonna show the pairing code. This will most likely 99% work after doing all the steps I just told you to get on your phone and pair it and you should be all set! Reply for more help.
I finally got the quest 2 but for some reason when i put in the code for my quest 2 it wont pair it finds the headset but just stays on the pairing quest 2 for a hour.

You install the Oculus app on your phone not the actual Oculus device. Telling you this may not matter because it doesn’t seem to pair anyway.
