A good, well thought out, in-ground test patch is "consecrated ground"🙏. Every metal detectorist should strive for such holey-ness and denounce all "small coffins with poke- holes" in as being, the death real of testing and a sacrilege , I think😉 . Two honest testers with two good in-ground testing platforms will be a 'double-score'! Cheers for this video Mike; as always a fair and interesting pleasure to tune in to your channel👍
Dug a super deep wheatie at DigStock with the Sweeper program and on test with a silver dime one inch below and between 2 square nails… swinging “down the barrel” separated AND correct ID
Awesome! That sweeper program works good. This one would as well. Its the high Disc impacting the unmasking. I like the way it sounds with the offset in my test garden, and using FT will help identify nails with the silencer at 0. Silencer at 0 in Sens FT is (if i remember correctly) -2 compared to the fast program which is helping the Ids but caused users frustration with nails when that version was released.
Hi, I am mainly a coin hunter at old home sites. Most of the places I hunt are iron laden but some have modern trash mixed in. Currently I am running a program based on the general program. But I find I have falsing on more modern rusty nails and small bits of fence wire coming in at an 85 and sounding good as well. Here are my settings what do you recommend I change? Ver 1.1, base program general, max freq 40, 5 tones, disc 6.8, bin 2 53, bin 3 65, bin 4 72, bin 5 73 and up. Running hi square audio, fe tid off, iron vol 7, silencer 2, reactivity 2.5 (adjusted based on the site, audio filter 0, audio response 5, 0 notch, 0 bottlecap. Thanks for any information. Btw, I am in Mo near the Arkansas border, are you also in Mo?
The nails drive me crazy at vdi 85/86 too. You can try silencer 3 and bottlecap 2 to see if that helps, you are going to be masking targets though. I use the D2 in 2 tone high square as a relic machine. If you try full tones in sensitive FT you might fine you are getting more info in the audio to help with those nails. I don’t have a (settings) way around that issue, i deal with the same thing here in RI. The rusty hand forged nails are a pain in the a@@.
I posted this as an issue on Facebook forums and was called a liar, newbie etc. Glad to find I am not crazy. I will try bottle cap reject to see what I can find. I may look at building my program off of Sens FT or Fast. A friend in England dumped his d2 out if frustration and went to Nokta. He claims it separates better than his d2 did.
I had doubts that the Tekkna was a magic program. Fast got them all, If the disc for Tekkna was normal it would have ID the level 3 I believe. SRA's sweeper would have got them all. Run a test with his.
Yes, normal Disc of 6.8 and Sensitive FT is the program (base) to use for unmasking. Keep the silencer below 2 if you can. 0 in Sensitive FT is lower than 0 in other programs.
@@IffySignals interesting, I have the manticore but keep going back to the deus. I did like the look of the versa results, I asked as I was thinking of selling the manticore and getting a versa, the battery life annoys me with the manticore. Thank you for the input. Looking forward to seeing how the magnet program gets on with depth, I can’t say I have noticed any difference.
So one question I have not tried this program in the field. Are you running 2.0? The reason I ask is since I went to that version I am not seeing the 08 -09 VDI. I have been running it since it came out. Thank for sharing. I do like you do switch between programs and see what happens to the signal. I can say most of the time I am in SenFT and not fast.
Just purchased the WSA 11 XL headphones. I have them paired to my Deus 2 and can hear the remote but not the coil. Must I pair these headphones to the coil? My WS6 headphones work as they should. Thanks
Hi, i use sensitive ft as a base but i change it to two tone. Audio high square, Disc of 7, An iron tone at 202 and everything else 900. Silencer 0 BC 2 (helps ignore large iron) add silencer if needed because of the nails. Once you go past silencer 2 your unmasking has been impacted quite a bit and will get those 7-9 IDs.
I saw in one of your videos when the update came out that the tid problem had been fixed or am I wrong? You showed that the problem was gone with the new update... What are the settings to resolve this issue? Why doesn't it work in the video anymore? Discrimination too high?
Yes, there were nail falsing issues with that update that many people mentioned. They have put out a new update to correct it 1.10, sensitive FT is a great base to keep the Ids just do not go over silencer 1 or 2 or it will give you the low Ids again. Its a trade off.
@@IffySignals I believe that program number 3 is the least suitable for unmasking non-ferrous targets. Why does it keep the 1.0 version silencer more aggressive than the other versions even at 0...on your 3D tests if you chose the Prog number two or the four with zero silencer and disc at 30-40 you would get the correct IDs?
@@brillero2356 disc 30-40 is tough, if you run silencer 1-2 will hinder it. Silencer 0 on sensitive FT is (i think negative 2) making it more frustrating on nails.
@@IffySignals I always use silencer on 0 in iron filled areas with prog two.. never had low id problems to me it seems to unmask perfectly... I'm on version 1.1

Yes, ear is first. I am guilty of digging ID’s 40 and up. You can see my small gold giving a 33 ish Id, so i am missing those when I’m only digging 40 and up.
I do ask question. it how you learn .. The D2 is a great machine but it does have its quirks. The first is being the 85/86 on nails (my hand forged nails here on 1600-1800 sites. The 2nd it will unmask very well but you get a 7-9 ID so you have to dig them. For me allot of nails also fall into that range. The best machine i have seen for unmasking currently while maintaining a good ID and also being able to knock out large iron and nails is the Rutus Versa with the new update 3.7. It also has Dual mode which XP and ML do not currently offer.
@@IffySignals you are digging more iron .. and the machine falsing on Iron is. a shocker .. coke coming in as the same as small silver hammered coins .. what is that all about. .. every time i take it out i have even more questions about it .. i have also found it sucks at killing emp something i never have issues with with a mineland ctx or the 800 .. i like the machine. but it still need sorting inside. .. falsing is my biggest gripe ... iron i can live with .. the Iron value is not a volume is more of a discrimination .. i could be wrong with all this. .. time will tell .. but many thanks for your videos .. steve from scotland

Currently the magic happens between 7-9 ids on the D2. Sensitive FT will be your best base program for unmasking with the most recent update but cannot disc those 7-9’s and keep it below silencer 2.
Well, it seems to work well for allot of people but its not for me. That high of a discrimination on a machine that plummets down the Id when a target is near iron cannot be used on my sites, not with a discrim in the 40 range. I do like the FT offset feature on the D2. The program works really well for coin hunters. I think that is the target audience of the Tekkna.
@@IffySignals well i hunt mainly coins but there are many types of ancient coins here with different sizes and made of different metals(bronze, copper, silver, gold etc). When they are small and deep they tend to ring at lower id numbers and that 40+ disc is messing with the way they sound. When you combine this with the iron in the soil the problem gets bigger.
