For this brand new record, "The Formation Of Damnation", the band has brought their original lineup back together -- vocalist Chuck Billy, guitarists Eric Peterson & Alex Skolnick, and bassist Greg Christian -- and have added friend and former member, Paul Bostaph.
"It's come full circle. We were together, moving strong, then we broke up and had several different lineups," says Billy. "But now we got a new band, a new label, a new album, everything's positive."
The Formation of Damnation has since sold over 84,000 copies in the U.S and as of November 2011 it sold over 300,000 copies worldwide

Testament is an example of a band that has only improved over time! These guys are phenomenal.
Testament never got recognized like they deserve back in the day. Even today.

I've been a Testament fan since '87. I have nothing but respect for them. They've not at all changed the formula that made them such a killer band all those years ago.

Yeah! Unfortunately, they're a Killer Band that got overlooked, because of one thing:They were NEVER willing to Compromise! Metallica compromised, and yeah, they've sold well over 125,000,000 albums, but that's because they COMPROMISED! Testament NEVER compromised, and, as a result, they will go down in history as one of the TRUEST examples of Metal that has ever existed! I love songs like this one, as well as Native Blood, Brotherhood of the Snake, Electric Crown, Practice what you Preach, Over the Wall, and others. I'd love to meet them in person, and especially Chuck Billy. He comes across as a really cool dude, and as a sincere human being.
Actually Testament has changed their sound quite a lot along the years. They've done traditional thrash, power ballads, death metal and now they're a mix of their old self and some death thrash added to the mix. It's their versatility that makes them my favourite Thrash band

What an achievement! This song has got all the appeal and strength of what inspired rock and it is pure metal! Most metal does not have the fantastic positive energy like rock - and most rock is silly compared to the pure potency of metal - and somehow Testament achieves top shelf rock and metal - the best of both - in this song with so much appeal and energy that even some dull minded pop music fan that hates heavy music cannot resist the sheer miracle of how this song works. Congradulations for making the musical universe - better than it was before you came along. Never a dull moment in this song - and no matter how many tiimes I listen to it - it is like drinking a quart of espresso! Amazing. Mozart and Beethoven would give this band a thumbs up if they heard it!

but after alex left the band,
eric & chuck carried the band together...
at first i never realized that how great eric patterson was & is because he's only playing the god damned rhythm guitar not some cool melodic lead like alex did...
but after the gathering & formation of damnation probably the best testament albums for me....
i couldnt helped myself to proclaimed him as one of the best underrated rhythm guitarist ever...
imo he's up there with james, dave and even with jeff hanneman & dimebag...
True,Dude from Obituray is good but Skolnik is on another level,you can even compare them in the same sentence.
Debetable,I like Skolnick better but riffs on Peace are just incredible,with nice flow never dull moment, whole solo,like on Practice.i think it comes down who you like better.
Have been a big fan of TESTAMENT since I first heard them on the album The New Order. Seen them the first time in 2015 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. They are coming next year 2022. Gotta see them again, IT'S TIME!!

Saw them at the Metropolis in mtl at their "Gathering" era. While waiting for the show, it knocked at the side door (emergency kind of) it was chuck with some of the crew, he was at the wrong door. Damn, this dude is tall and huge. He thanked us, very nice and charismatic individual. Good youth memories, the weed was good too.
How are they not considered in the big four is beyond me. Vocal and guitars are best in thrash business, period!

I love pulling up to a stop light at almost 50 years old with my dad clothes, clean cut look and blasting Testament to the limits of my speakers. The looks on the faces of the other people my age are priceless! 🤣

Love that Skolnick waa rocking a traditional, LP type guitar in the Heritage H150 back in those days. That kind of guitar is pretty rare in metal, especially with companies like ESP, Ibanez etc making their own, more modern version of the Les Paul.
