  • In this how to drainage video I show an inexpensive and quick way to tie into your gutter drain line. On this gutter downspout system a 4" drain line was tied into the main 6" pvc pipe drain line using a 4" elbow. This is a quick process, which eliminates the use of expensive sanitary tees and the need to measure and cut the main gutter drain pipe.
    IMPORTANT: This tie in method should not be used in heavy traffic areas, nor in pressurized systems.
    This method was performed using thin wall (sch 30) pvc pipe, for both the 6" drain line and the 4" drain line along with the fittings. You will need a 4.5" hole saw, drill, elbow fitting, and waterproof silicone. Make sure the fitting inserted into your hole is the last fitting secured and silicone applied once all other fittings have been secured and connected.

    This should not be used In pressurized systems, or in areas where the drain line is subject to heavy vehicle traffic.

    I am planning to use PVC pipe as a french drain for gutter downspouts on a single wide mobile home. I must shoot the water outlet underneath the trailer due to the septic being in the front yard and a tight lot. I also planned to dig a pit, fill it with gravel for the catch basin? Will this work????

    Those tricks are great beveled end and, cutting the pvc. Have those sized fittings always been insanely priced? Every PVC fitting is insanely priced now from 1/2 inch plus.

    Good work. That’s one thing that worries me about making my system go into a single main 6” (like I plan to upgrade it to soon): the price of all the 6” equipment. The tees and wyes. Sheesh. And the price of 6” pipe is insane. But that’s what I’m going to do. So that I know the single main to the front ditch can handle the volume of all the Downspouts and the multiple catch basins too.

      I have 6 downspouts, a French drain and around 10 catch basins around the home.

    Do you only use Silicone when connecting all of your connections? I'm going to be doing a solid schedule 40 4" system next week. I was wondering if you suggested multiple 45's over just a 90. Thanks for all of your awesome videos! 🤘

      Johnson Robinson Jr yes. I like to use a street 45 and regular 45 together. A long sweep 90 is good as well.
      I don’t always use silicone. When I do I use it from the downspout connection to the main line only.

      @@Bellislawns I'm going to be doing a run of 100ft from the back of the house to the front. I'll be using 10ft sections so I'll have alot of couplers. Should I use solvent cement at all my connections that are not at my downspouts and catch basin's?

      Johnson Robinson Jr on those joints I use pvc cement.

    Thin wall pipe?

    • @Bellislawns
      @Bellislawns  6 років тому +1

      monte glenn schedule 30 pvc pipe. This is the thickness of the pipes wall (or the thickness of the pvc itself).
