Driveway dust in !!!! ....priceless ! , if this treasure was still there when Dean brought me over there I would have tried to buy it , its gone to a new home , a beauty with some potential Keep 'em coming !
I agree. That old girl didn't have any ammeter or oil pressure gauges just two idiot lights that are supposed to come on when the key is turned on and go out when started. Bulb is out on the oil light - I'd hook a temp gauge into the system before the filter.
What a beautiful car, so nice to see u guys put the love into an old girl like that. That's the kind of thing I'm all about. Really enjoy the videos, keep up the hard work.
this is one of my favorite episodes of will it run. i think i’ve watched all 3 videos over 10 times. it might be something about giving a cheap car a backyard splash paint job just like the kids in the 60s and 70s did.
Yep we even sprayed over nice cars so we could look like our buddies when there spray can spot primer and Western Auto enamel paint brushed on looked good 100 feet away.
I had a belair 4dr just like that....the color is coral and white.....the interior was a godawful bronze and pink....my first belair was a sport sedan 4dr ht....beautiful multitone blues over white....yeah ive had 2 58s....love em!
watching this again , and I cannot help but to appreciate the job you did ! . it looks fantastic . I hope you decide to do more videos Just Like this one . you will make more money this way . Ray in Pa.
An oil filter canister was an option in 58 and that Blue Flame engine was upgraded to 145 hp. I waited for my parents to go to church in our other car (58 Olds) and took that Delray for a spin out of town and got that thing to dangle at 110mph. I was 13 years old. My father years later admitted knowing I'd driven the Delray because it was still doing the cool-down "tinking" in the driveway when they got back from church. I never told him how fast I'd driven it. Good days.
Quite the transformation !! She clearly wasn't ready for a "re-incarnation" since she started up and sounded so good after spending a whole 0 dollars on new parts. Have to call this one "Fina". Short for Delfina and "fine".
Great work. You make body work and painting look so easy. I realize it is not "concours quality" but plenty good enough for a daily driver. Keep on saving that rusty old iron.
In the cold only the bold resurrect the old, despite what their told, with a nod and a quick tidy, that no budget crew, those agents of hope with their pizza and dope beer and wine.
Ah fond memories of a friend's car. His was a BelAir with no back seat. It burned more oil than gas and had no back seat. Butch the dog lived back there. Yours is much nicer.
I've been watching a lot of your videos lately, you should take one or two of these old cars and make something mad max worthy with some junk, I'm sure you have 90% of what you need laying around.
i love you guys! still wouldn´t have painted it even if it looks very pretty now but i like it if you see a cars history and this story is too good not to be told. definitely would drive it to school and carmeetings where i live just as it is. is this older or does it really snow now where you live? im going swimming and bbqing since 2 months :D
Is this the same sort of inline 6 say that wouldve come in late 1970's chevy novas? i know our boat had the inline 6 i believe 250 CI engine and it was from the early 70's..Seems to be in the same family...We had a lifter that ticked for the whole time we had it and it never got worse and we never did worry about it...reliable indeed..
+bababooey7576 No, the engine in the 58 is different family from the later sixes. It is the second generation Chevy 6 that came out in 1937 and ran to 1963. It had splash lube for the rods early on and went to full lube later. 4 main bearings. Had bypass oil filter. Third generation started in 1962 and there was some overlap the first year--Nova had 3rd gen 194 cu while full size had the 235 still. Third gen had full flow oil filter and seven main bearings. Bell housing patterns are also different between them. The later has the standard Chevy pattern. The 3rd gen was available in 194, 230 and 250--eventually grew to 292 for trucks. 2nd gen started as 216 and grew to 261 for trucks, 302cu for GMC
The body is in rough shape a lot of cancer under neath and right hand side, the old repair above the head light is really poorly done! Think the 235ci was also used in some trucks so they are built to last. could be wrong.
Another’ miraculous transformation! Scott makes it look so easy but then for us mere mortals, it’s not…
Driveway dust in !!!! ....priceless ! , if this treasure was still there when Dean brought me over there I would have tried to buy it , its gone to a new home , a beauty with some potential
Keep 'em coming !
It's amazing to see old cars like this that you don't expect to start up to actually fire up and run.
Painting a car always reminds me of hanging out with my late brother . we always enjoyed a pointy and painting cars . what great memories . Ray in Pa.
+RayinPa U.S.A. Yeah! Good times just goofing off and hanging out... My favorite thing, cheers!
My first ride was a 47 Chevy 216 6 ran like a top with a three in the tree, God you put a smile on my old ass.

The car sounds so good running THANK YOU FOR THE VIDEO

Oh my gawd!! You’re really bringing that car back. Amazing!

Cool car. Well done guys. I especially like the garbage-can-lid tire-masking tool. As always, very inspirational!
Hey, thanks, and thanks for checking it out! Cheers...
What a beautiful looking car....its got a lot of potential

Love those old cars ! Soooo easy to work on!
FYI If there's two hash marks on the block beside the starter it's a 261 ci since they used a lot of 261's in Canada
I just discovered you guys and I totally dig what you guy are all about!
Mr1979capri Hey, thanks a lot! It makes it worthwhile doing this if people like it.
that engine runs good.
Some day when I'm able to travel I'd love to come up and help you guys get something running!
I figured that you would cut out the rust and weld in replacement metal, sounds like "White Lightening" is magic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Body man in a can!
Hopping horse ship!!!!!!!!!! What a transformation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You guys are just awesome i love the new paint job looks great.
Hey, thanks; and thanks for checking it out. I think its a pretty good improvement, hey? Cheers from us here at CWMC Headquarters.
I am watching all videos from day one and challenge others to do the same!
In the cold only the bold resurrect the old, despite what their told, with a nod and a quick tidy, that no budget crew, those agents of hope with their pizza and dope beer and wine.
My neighbor son had a 58 Impala Black brand new with continental kit gorgeous car
Ah fond memories of a friend's car. His was a BelAir with no back seat. It burned more oil than gas and had no back seat. Butch the dog lived back there. Yours is much nicer.
Looks heaps better painted.
How cold was it out when you painted the old Chev?
Another fantastic three-part vid series.
Great job!
You're like Red Green with cars .
Nothing quite lasts like a carbureted Chevy
I've been watching a lot of your videos lately, you should take one or two of these old cars and make something mad max worthy with some junk, I'm sure you have 90% of what you need laying around.
Frilliant!
Coming up on 10 years!
awesome car and video :-)
+MrMicke1969 Thanks! Cheers.
add paint and voila !
Love it.
The '58 is Chevy's best design !
is that top tank brass you just soldered? damn, good old Detroit. those cragar ss make almost anything look good.
Man I would buy it in a heartbeat. Do you still have it ???
What's with the blue gas? Do you guys put oil in it for the rings?
Runner 2.0! Goes to show that the cheapest '58 heap that Chevy ever made will return from the dead with a little TLC under the hood.
Amazing!
I hope you changed the oil and filter and put some oil in the top of that engine before you cranked it.
If she runs... give her a paint job boys
i love you guys! still wouldn´t have painted it even if it looks very pretty now but i like it if you see a cars history and this story is too good not to be told. definitely would drive it to school and carmeetings where i live just as it is. is this older or does it really snow now where you live? im going swimming and bbqing since 2 months :D
Hi! It was still snowing in early May when we started this vid. Glad you liked it!

bababooey7576 I think you're right; same family. Great engines for sure. Thanks for checking out the vid!
coldwarmotors No problem. Love seeing the old stuff run, especially on the low budget deal...
+bababooey7576 NOT same engine as later Chevy 6. 235.5 "Stovebolt" used to 1962.
Hott Puppy same general family. not specific size/engine.

the six for that model year would have been the Chevy blue flame, right?
nice
Nice
That '58 sounds great! How long was it sitting in that yard?
We found a pack of smokes in the car from 1986. Player's cigs had a calendar on the inside sleeve, so that's how we know when it was last started...
close to thirty years...amazing that it ran so welll
Does this have a Blue Flame?
I think I know why Chevrolet dropped the Delray moniker. Because Ray is phonetically backward of Air.
Delray and Bel Air.
How did you get the satin look? Is it basecoat?
Hey! Thanks for the note... This is basecoat, yeah... not meant to do anything other than tidy it up enough to sit in the yard. Cheers!
Try to start the 58 Dodge Mayfair hardtop
Is it for sale ? I realy want a car like that greeting from the netherlands
That six looks tiny in that huge engine compartment.
+Kevin MacNutt >> I had a 283 in mine and it looked small too :~)
wow
This is why you can't trust any entirely resprayed rig.
👍
I'VE NEVER SEEN YOU CHECK THE OIL ON THESE CARS OR CLEAN THE GAS TANK. OR CHANGE AN OIL FILTER. OR FIX THE EXAUHST.
bom
Whatever happened to this car?
Sold many yeas ago... Cheers!
Too New to be True?
i find it funny that he wears a mask wile painting because hes a smoker
Huge difference!
The body is in rough shape a lot of cancer under neath and right hand side, the old repair above the head light is really poorly done!
Think the 235ci was also used in some trucks so they are built to last. could be wrong.
kind of an ugly car but you made it pretty.. : )
