    I have one of these and it works great. Not that you really have to adjust intonation on a floyd that often. But when doing a new setup every year or so it really helps.

    that's one of the most clever little tool I've seen in a long long time. I'm definitely getting one.

    There's a flaw in this method. When the 12th note is fretted, extra tension is placed on the string that isn't there in the open strings. The higher the action, the sharper the fretted 12th note will sound when pressed, unless you have very low action at the 12th. I prefer to use the open string and the harmonic at the 12th.

    Why would you not use a chrome floyd against the black tool and a legible tuner that was on screen?

    Yeah, each time you adjust those intonation blocks you have to torque the string saddles down pretty hard in order to get the string up to pitch and recheck all the notes, this is pretty neat and would save alot time if regularly intonate these. Unfortunately ive got a edge 3 like a mid 2000's loser.

    I have this same tool, I have floyd rose and .... tool is useless. When intonation screw loses, the tool going down and any adjustment is impossible, also pull back of string vice is very unstable.

    Hello. What if you don't have enough space for the tool on String locking screws? Do you have to move the saddle further back?

    A demonstration of a black tool on a black trem on a black guitar. You could have done it behind a curtain so it was easier to see. I know it would have been hard to find a lighter colored guitar with a chrome trem so we could actually see what was going on ....LIKE THE EVH YOU SHOW A PICTURE OF....

    I have the smooth knob version of The Key. As you can imagine, it was difficult to move because my hand wouls easily slip. This newer version with a grip would have been better.

      It had to be word of mouth. So if a guitar tech was stingy with their secrets, you'd never know the tool even existed. Same thing with auto repair tools and techniques. I wouldn't have been able to finish any of my repairs without the knowledge I acquired from seasoned vets that posted write ups on forum message boards.

    Bought "the key" from AllParts looks like the exact same gizmo works the same way... But there's a huge problem NOT shown in this video. @3:07 after you've unlocked the nut and get the open note / 12th harmonic tuned to pitch in video he shows that you can just adjust the key by tightening or loosing the back screw... This works to help you get that 12th fretted note to pitch but what happens 99% of the time is that after you make that adjustment with the key then your open note and 12th harmonic are left slightly sharp or flat... Then you end up in a never ending cycle, adjusting the key then tweaking the tuner on the headstock.... I have a 2019 Wolfgang Standard, out of the box first thing I checked was the intonation, it was perfect on pitch harmonic and 12th fretted on all 6 strings... Took the Floyd Rose apart put it back together and made adjustments, I'm near perfect intonation but even being off just a little (knowing the guitar is capable of nailing perfect in-tune 12th harmonic and 12th fretted down the neck) is infuriating and there and for the reason stated "the key" turned out to be a waste of money that could have gone to a local pro to fix.

      Intonating on any guitar is going to throw the whole string slightly out of tune every time you adjust. So you just have to check and retune the string after each adjustment.

    • @ryanpullin
      @ryanpullin 2 роки тому +1

      You’re changing the length of the string every time you change the position of the saddle to adjust intonation, so it’s going to make the whole string go sharp or flat, depending.
      I’m not sure exactly 100% what you’re trying to say, but it seems like you’re infuriated that you have to retune the string after you make a saddle adjustment for intonation?

    With the key intonation is easier on a FR than on a normal bridge where you need a screwdriver. Sadly I need to buy the copycat version because FU tone has no distributor in Europe… I wanted to buy a tremolo Stopper but the shipping is twice as much as the item + my German Customs+ extra expense for a package from a country outside of the EU… I couldn’t find a normal tremolo stopper in Europe so I made my own out of a furniture angle, drilled a hole in it and cut threads in it and used a screw with a nut like you do on your tremolo stopper and it works beautifully, but I sadly cannot build my own intonation tool so I’m forced to buy non original. Maybe consider a distribution in Europe, I would love to buy a original titan tremolo stoppet and a few other cool gadgets.

      I just saw another video that suggested using a deck of cards as a stopper for the block. Just take out however many cards you need to stop the float at the desired spot.

    Never do this when the guitar is flat. You should tune and intonationnate guitar only in playing position.
